2.Analysis of Prognosis of Children with Non-Hodgkin′s Lymphoma
Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 1993;0(03):-
Objective To analyze the factors affecting prognosis of children with non-Hodgkin′s lymphomas(NHL).Methods Thirty patients of childhood NHL histologically proven in Shanghai children′s medical center from Jan.1996 to Dec.2000 were analyzed. The patients were divided into groups according to some clinical factors that may have predictive significance including age, gender, immunologic phenotype, general system symptom, the size of tumor bulk, bone marrow involvement, mediastinal involvement, hepatomegaly or liver involvement, splenomegaly or spleen involvement and early response to chemotherapy, then the difference of survival rate were compared between groups.Survival analysis was performed by the Kaplan-Meier method, and difference between groups were campared using the Log-rank test. Results The 3-year survival rate was better in patients without giant tumor bulk than that with giant tumor bulk(P0.05).Conclusions Bone marrow involvement and the size of tumor bulk have very significant influence on prognosis of childhood NHL,and splenomegaly or spleen involvement have significant influence on disease-free survival. It can′t be proven in childhood NHL in this study.

Objective To observe effects of electro-acupuncture (EA) on the expression of apoptosis related protein B-cell lymphoma/leukemia gene 2 (Bcl-2) and Bcl-associated protein X (Bax) in the hippoeampal CA1 region of rats with cerebral infarction, and on their behavior. MethodsAn animal model of cerebral ischemia was established by right side middle cerebral artery occlusion using thread in 48 male, adult Wistar rats, who were then randomly divided equally into an EA group and a control group. Both groups were sub-divided into 1 week,2 weeks and 3 weeks subgroups. The EA group began receiving EA 24h after the occlusion, applied at the Baihui (DU20) and Dazhui (BU14) points, once daily, for one,two or three weeks. The control group was reared conventionally and was not given any special treatment. The rats'learning and memory, motion and neural function were evaluated. The expression of Bcl-2 and Bax in the CA1 region of the hippocampus on the infarcted side and changes of apoptosis indexes were detected using immunohistochemical techniques.ResultsThe learning, memory, motion and neural function of the EA group rats were better on average than those of the control group at all observation time points. The expression of Bcl-2 protein increased along with reduced expression of Bax protein in the EA group significantly more than among the controls.TUNEL positive cells in the CA1 region of the hippocampus were reduced significantly in the EA group compared with the control group.ConclusionsBehavioral ability after cerebral infarction can be improved by EA at the Baihui (DU20) and Dazhui (BU14) points.EA can up-regulate the expression of Bcl-2 and down-regulate the expression of Bax and reduce TUNEL positive cells in the CA1 region of the hippocampus after cerebral infarction, which might be the mechanism of its neuroprotection.

Objective To evaluate the functional changes in the isometric, concentric and eccentric muscle strength of the knee extensors and flexors in patients with knee osteoarthritis, and to explore the relationship among these contractions. Methods A Biodex System-3 isokinetic test system was used to assess the isometric, concentric and eccentric strength of the knee extensors and flexors of the involved and uninvolved limbs of 54 patients suffering from osteoarthritis. Results The strength of the knee extensors and flexors of the involved limbs was significantly less than that of the uninvolved legs in the different contraction modes(P<0.05).The difference was especially marked in concentric and eccentric contraction at low angular velocity. The hamstrings/quadriceps ratio and the dy- namic control ratio showed abnormalities in the muscle balance of the hamstrings and quadriceps. Conclusion Iso- kinetic testing should be applied and the hamstrings/quadriceps ratio and the dynamic control ratio should be analyzed in evaluating patients with knee osteoarthritis.

The aim of this paper is to apply near infrared spectroscopy techniques to construct a rapid identification method for 8 kinds of mineral Chinese Medicines containing carbonates. The qualitative model using clustering analysis method in OPUS software can identify accurately 8 kinds of carbonate-containing mineral Chinese medicines. The near-infrared quantitative model was established by using partial least squares method (PLS) for 7 mineral Chinese Medicines in which main component is calcium carbonate. Compared with the results by EDTA titration, the established quantitative analysis model for calcium carbonate content showed a good prediction result that when the content is between 47.61% -99.17%, the average relative deviation of the prediction result is 0.24% and the average recovery rate was 100.3%. The results also showed that the model using near infrared spectroscopy can get not only a rapid identification of the 8 mineral Chinese medicines containing carbonates, but also an accurate and reliabe content determination of calcium carbonate for the 7 mineral Chinese medicines which contain the component.

To enhance the immunogenicity of DNA and adenoviral vector vaccines expressing HIV-1 subtype B gp160, human interleukin 15 (hIL15) DNA adjuvant (pVR-hIL15) was constructed. BALB/c mice received DNA prime/protein boost immunization with pVR-HIVgp160/Ad5-HIVgp160 alone or combined with pVR-hIL15. Cellular and humoral immune responses were evaluated by IFN-gamma enzyme-linked immunosorbent spot assay and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, respectively. Compared with those immunized with vaccines alone, the mice immunized with vaccines combined with pVR-hIL15 had significantly increased specific cellular response and antibody titer (P < 0.05). It suggests that the IL15 DNA adjuvant can enhance the immune responses induced by prime-boost regimen using DNA and adenoviral vector encoding HIV-1 subtype B gp160.

0.05)and the TNM staging (P=0.55).A mild elevated compared other pathological classification was found in small cell lung cancer (0.191?0.275).Conclusions The results showed that RFQ-PCR was suitable for measurement of the mRNA level of PLKI in bronchoscopic bioptic specimens. This study suggest elevated expression of PLK1 might play a important role in development of lung cancer,so that PLK1 might be a potential tumor marker for Lung cancers.Advanced studies will be needed to clarify that PLKI mRNA level do not relate to TNM staging and pathological classification.

Microbiology 1992;0(01):-
Succinic acid is regarded as C4 platform chemical, which has a huge potential market with wide applications in biopolymer, food, medicine, and so on. Production of succinic acid by microorganism fer-mentation has attracted much attention in recent times. By fermentation, succinic acid could be produced from renewable resources in place of petroleum with low cost and low pollution; especially CO2 could be fixed by microorganism to form the product, which is a promising way to deal with the green gas. Some E. coli have been chosen as good succinic acid producing strains because of their clear genetic backgrounds, convenience to be modified and controlled, and good growth properties with low nutrients requirements. The progress of genetic engineering strategy and metabolic engineering technology for construction of succinic aicd producing recombinant E. coli has been introduced in this paper with the discussion of the future re-search in this area.

Microbiology 2008;0(10):-
In order to meet the requirements of cultivating the practical abilities and creativities of students who receive higher education, we initiated the reformation of education in the microbiology experiment teaching methods, implementing a system for module-based education, carefully monitoring every link in teaching, combining the encouragement and strict requirements together, adopting a proper way of assessment. It is proven that the implementation of the educational reformation mobilizes the interests of students and enhances the comprehensive qualities of students, which accomplishes the purposes of teaching.
