Objective To evaluate intra- and interatrial asynchrony and its determinants in aged patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) by using tissue Doppler imaging. Methods Ninty-one patients without PAF (control group, including 40 elder patients and 51 non-elder patients) and 52 aged patients with PAF were included. As to assessment of intra- and interatrial synchronicity, the atrioventricular plane were selected on the right atrial (RA) free wall, interatrial septum (IAS), and left atrial (LA) free wall. The time differences from the onset of the P wave to the onset of the A wave at the left atrium (P-LA), the IAS (P-IAS), and the right atrium (P-RA) were measured. Intra-atrial asynchrony was defined as the differences between P-IAS and P-RA (RA asynchrony) and between P-LA and P-IAS (LA asynchrony). Interatrial asynchrony was defined as the difference between P-LA and P-RA. Stepwise regression was made to determine the influencing factors for atrial asynchrony in aged patients with PAF. Results Compared with the control group, aged patients with PAF had significant LA and interatrial asynchrony (P＜0.01). Multivariate stepwise regression demonstrated that systolic blood pressure (x2), age (x1) and left ventricular mass index (LVMI x5) entered the regression equation in aged patients with PAF (Y=-57.241+0.481 x1+0.223 x2+0.294 x5). Conclusions Aged patients with PAF have LA and interatrial asynchrony. LVH, aged and SBP are important factors leading to these asynchronies in the aged patients with PAF.

Differences in gene expressions were compared by cDNA microarray in skeletal muscle of type 2 diabetic rats and normal rats.In diabetic rats,157 genes were down-regulated and 100 genes up-regulated. Some of these genes were related to insulin resistance,glucose and lipid metabolism.

BACKGROUND: Osteosarcoma is the most common type of bone tumor and generally occurs between the age of 10 to 25; moreover, in clinical practice osteosarcoma is found to occur more often in minority nationalities in Xinjiang Autonomous Region. Do its incidence and prognosis vary between nationalities at gene levelOBJECTIVE: To observe the different expressions of p53, bcl-2 and proliferative cell nucleus antigen (PCNA) gene during the development of osteosarcoma between various Xinjiang nationalities.DESIGN: Non-randomized comparative experiment taking clinical pathological specimens as subjects.SETTING: Immunohistochemical Laboratory, the Pathological Center of Xinjiang Medical University.PARTICIPANTS: Totally 52 pieces of specimen were obtained from excised osteosarcoma tissues in the Pathological Department, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University, and the Pathological Department, the First Affiliated Hospital of Shihezi University, between January 1,1984 and December 31, 2001. The 52 cases of osteosarcoma included 29cases derived from male patients and 23 from female patients; among them there were 12 cases of Kazak minority, 17 cases of Uygur minority and 23cases of Han nationality. Other 32 specimens were obtained from 32 patients with tumor-like lesions (such as osteofibrous dysplasia or fibrous dysplasia), including 7 cases of Kazak minority, 11 cases of Uygur minority,and 14 cases of Han nationality. The informed consent was obtained from the patients.METHODS: This experiment was carried out at the Immunohistochemical Laboratory, the Pathological Center of Xinjiang Medical University. LSAB method was used to detect p53, bcl-2 and PCNA expression in the two groups. The first antibody was re placed by PBS as blank control, and the available positive expression was taken as positive control. Objective To improve the safety of surgery,the application of indocyanine green fluorescein(ICG)angiography in intracranial aneurysm surgery was investigated.Methods Fifty cases of intracranial aneurysms were retrospectively analyzed.All the patients were received ICG angiography before and after intracranial aneurysm clipping.The efficiency of the surgery was evalu-ated with CT angiography(CTA)and(or)digital subtraction angiography(DSA).The postoperative follow-up was conducted using Glasow outcomes score(GOS).Results Of the 50 patients,3 cases of aneurysmal neck remnant,one case of parent arteries steno-sis,one case of nearby branch stenosis and two cases of “false-negative”were observed after ICG angiography.The clips were adjus-ted until the satisfactory blood flew was restored.Postoperative CTA and(or)DSA confirmed the results of intraoperative ICG an-giography.Of the 40 patients underwent follow-up,GOS score was 5 in 30 cases,4 in 7 case,3 in 2 case and 2 in 1 case.Conclusion ICG angiography is a useful way to assess the clipping of aneurysms,blood flew of parent arteries and nearby branches during the aneurysm surgery.It could raise the safety of surgery and further improve the clinical outcomes of intracranial aneurysms.

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture plus hyperbaric oxygen in treating depression after cerebral stroke.Method A total of 120 patients with depression after cerebral stroke were randomized into a treatment group of 60 cases and a control group of 60 cases. The treatment group was intervened by acupuncture plus hyperbaric oxygen, while the control group was intervened by Fluoxetine. Before the treatment, and respectively after 14-d and 28-d treatments, the patients were evaluated by Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and the therapeutic efficacies were compared between the two groups. Result The treatment group was significantly superior to the control group in comparing therapeutic efficacy (P<0.01). After 1 course of treatment, the HAMD and NIHSS scores dropped significantly in the treatment group (P<0.01); the scores in the control group showed a declining tendency but without statistical significances (P>0.05). After 2 treatment courses, the HAMD and NIHSS scores were significantly different from those before the treatment in both groups (P<0.01), and the differences were more significant in the treatment group (P<0.01).Conclusion Acupuncture plus hyperbaric oxygen is effective in treating depression after cerebral stroke, and it can obviously improve the neural function.

Objective To explore the value of plasma Tau protein and resistin in early prediction of brain injury in premature infants caused by intrauterine infection. Method A total of 47 premature infants in NICU with early-onset sepsis were selected as infection group from January 2017 to October. According to the cranial MRI, the infection group was further divided into brain injury group (22 cases) and non-brain injury group (25 cases). In addition, 12 normal preterm infants were selected as the control group. Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect plasma Tau protein and resistin levels on the first, third and seventh day after birth in three groups. Results The Tau protein in the brain injury group increased significantly on the first day, and then gradually decreased, while it was higher than that in the non-brain injury group and the control group at all time points, and there were statistical differences (P<0.05). At different time points, there was no difference in the level of Tau protein between the non-brain injury group and the control group (P>0.05). The level of resistin in the brain injury group increased significantly on the first day until the third day, and significantly decreased in the seventh day, and it was higher than that in the non-brain injury group and the control group at all time points, and there were statistical differences (P<0.05). Resistin increased on the first day, then gradually decreased, and returned to normal on the seventh day in the non-brain injury group. Conclusion Detection of plasma Tau protein and resistin levels within 3 days after birth may be helpful for early prediction of brain damage in premature infants with intrauterine infection.
