Tumor 2011;31(3):264-268
Objective: To evaluate the short-term effect and the survival of patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) after receiving recombinant human vascular endostatin (Endostar) therapy in combination with standard platinum-based regimen. Methods: Forty eligible patients were recruited from May 2007 to April 2009, and they received Endostar (15 mg/d, d 1 to d 14, per 3 weeks a cycle) plus platinum-based regimen (per 3 weeks a cycle) for 4-6 cycles. The objective response rate (ORR), disease control rate (DCR), progression-free survival (PFS) and the overall survival (OS) were evaluated. Subgroup analysis was based on the clinicopathological features. Results: Of 40 patients, 37 could be evaluated for short-term response. The ORR was 29.7%, and the DCR was 81.8%; the median PFS was 11.1 months, and the median OS was 23.0 months. Subgroup analysis showed that PFS was associated with histology (hazard ratio = 0.366; 95% confidence interval: 0.160-0.840; P = 0.018) and the clinical stage (hazard ratio = 0.405; 95% confidence interval: 0.174-0.942; P = 0.036). The gender, age, histology and the clinical stage were not associated with OS. Conclusion: Treatment of Endostar in combination with standard platinum-based regimen may prolong the PFS and OS of patients with advanced NSCLC. Copyright© 2011 by the Editorial Board of Tumor.

Aim To investigate effects of cinnamic acid (CINN) on the differentiation of MGC-803 cells. Methods MGC-803 cells were treated by CINN (1, 2 and 3 mmol?L-1), and the rate of growth suppression was evaluated by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazole-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Plate clone formation assay was carried out to detect the phenotypes of colony formation. FACS analysis was used to analyze the cell cycle. The activity of telomerase was examined by telomeric repeat amplification protocol (TRAP) PCR-silver staining. Results CINN showed significant inhibitory effect on growth of these gastric carcinoma cells at 24, 48, 72 and 96 h. Treated with CINN for 48 h, cell cycle showed G0/G1 phase arrest, and the activity of telomerase was inhibited significantly. The colony-forming rate was reduced drastically (P

Objective To Study the effect of thyroid peroxidase-Ab (TPO-Ab) on in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF-ET) ending. Methods From March 2011 to October 2013, a total of 378 assisted reproduction cycles in Reproductive Medical Center of Qinghai Provincial People ’s Hospital were retrospectively analyzed in. Experiment group included 69 cycles from patients with positive thyroid peroxidase antibody and normal thyroid function and control group 309 cycles from those with negative thyroid peroxidase antibody and normal thyroid function. Results IVF fertility rate (79.76%) and high quality embryo rate (46.59%) in experiment group were significantly lower than those in control group (84.08%, 54.49% respectively) and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05); abortion rate (33.33%) in experiment group was obviously higher than that in control group (16.11%), which was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Positive thyroid peroxidase antibody exerts adverse effects on IVF-ET ending since TPO-Ab reduces IVF fertilization rate and high quality embryo rate and increases the rate of abortion.

Objective To explore the distribution and correlation of gross motor function and manual ability in 4~12 year old children with cerebral palsy of different types. Methods 143 children with cerebral palsy (CP) were recruited according to the inclusion and exclusion criterions. They were assessed with Chinese version of Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) and Manual Ability Classification System (MACS). Results The classification of GMFCS and MACS was Ⅰ~Ⅱ in 33 (60.0%) children with spastic diplegia; Ⅲ~Ⅴ in 28 (75.7%) children with spastic quadriplegia; Ⅰ in 21 (55.3%) children with spastic hemiplegia, and GMFCS Ⅱ in 2 children, MACS Ⅱ in 14 children. There was moderate correlation between GMFCS and MACS (r=0.67,P<0.05). Conclusion GMFCS and MACS can be used to determine the gross motor function and manual ability in CP children of different types.

Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2014;(7):710-712
Objective Evaluation of left ventricular ( LV) function has great clinical significance in patients with early chro-nic kidney disease (CKD).The study was to evaluate whether two-dimensional speckle tracking imaging (2D-STI) technique can offer additional information of cardiac dysfunction in early CKD patients . Methods Conventional echocardiography and 2D-STI echocar-diography were performed in CKD group of 20 patients at stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ and control group of 20 healthy volunteers .LV structure and function were evaluated by conventional echocardiography .Multidirectional strain , strain rate and LV twist parameters were analyzed by 2D-STI technique. Results There was no statistical difference in conventional echocardiographic parameters such as left atrial diam -eter, end-diastolic LV diameter and ejection fraction between CKD group and control group .By applying 2D-STI technique, CKD group had significantly decreased value of global longitudinal strain (-19.8 ±2.4)%and strain rate(-1.1 ±0.3)S-1 in comparison to control group(-22.6 ±2.1)%、( -1.8 ±0.2)S-1, along with significant increase in the values of maximum LV rotation (11.6 ± 4.4)°and LV twist(19.6 ±3.8)°in comparison to control group(8.2 ±3.7)°、(13.5 ±3.6)°(P<0.05).There was no differences in both global circumferential and radial deformation parameters as well as maximum rotation value of LV assist device between two groups(P>0.05). Conclusion 2D-STI can detect subclinical LV dysfunction sensitively in early CKD patients .
