Medical teaching for foreign students has been carried out in our university recently.Combining the teaching experience of dermatology and venereology,analyzing relative teaching problems and proposing corresponding countermeasures,this paper tries to explore more efficient English teaching methods for foreign students.

BACKGROUND: Theoretically, a novel single-sided groove target release biodegradable stent can avoid drug-induced inflammation of the local vessel wall, reduce drug dose, decrease the likelihood of thrombosis, and relieve stenosis.OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the influence of the novel single-sided groove target release biodegradable stent on intimal hyperplasia in a healthy porcine coronary artery model.METHODS: Eighteen healthy pigs were randomly divided into three groups, bare metal stent group, Firebird metal stent group and Firehawk stent group, which were implanted with L605 cobalt chromium alloy bare metal stents and L605 cobalt chromium alloy non-biodegradable rapamycin-eluting stent and L605 cobalt chromium alloy biodegradable rapamycin-eluting stent, respectively. Two same stents were implanted into the left anterior descending artery and the right coronary artery of each pig, respectively. After 1 and 3 months of follow-up, coronary angiography was performed,and the pigs were killed to take coronary artery samples for detection of intima hyperplasia.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: At 1 and 3 months after stent implantation, no stenosis, thrombosis and aneurysm occurred in the three groups shown by the coronary angiography; the lumen loss was significantly lower in the Firebird metal stent group and Firehawk stent group than the bare metal stent group (P < 0.05), while there was no difference between the Firebird metal stent group and Firehawk stent group. Histopatologically, there was no coronary arterial tissue necrosis or luminal thrombosis in the three groups. Compared with the bare metal stent group, at 1 and 3 months after stent implantation, the neointimal area and the percentage of stenosis were significantly lower in the Firebird metal stent group and Firehawk stent group (P < 0.05), while the residual lumen area and internal elastic lamina area were significantly higher (P < 0.05). Additionally, there was no significant difference between the Firebird metal stent group and Firehawk stent group. Overall, the Firehawk stent that achieves the same clinical efficacy as the non-biodegradable rapamycin-eluting stent effectively inhibits intimal hyperplasia, and prevents stent restenosis after stent implantation.However, future investigations on the long-term effect are warranted.

ObjectiveTo investigate the influence of nateglinide treatment of newly diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes on the state of inflammatory response. MethodsThe clinical data of 74 newly diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes were retrospectively reviewed,and treated with nateglinide,before and after treatment,the fasting blood glucose (FBG), postprandial blood glucose 0.5h ( 0.5 hPG), 1 h postprandial blood glucose ( 1 hPG) ,2h postprandial blood glucose(2hPG) ,fasting insulin(FINS) ,0.5h postprandial insulin(0. 5hINS) ,postprandial 1h insulin( 1 bINS),2h postprandial insulin(2hINS),interleulin-2(IL-2) and C-reactive protein(CRP) levels were observed. ConclusionNateglinide treatment of newly diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes could significantly improve the patient's inflammatory response state,and there was no serious adverse events in treatment process.

Objective To establish the determination method of baicalin in the children's YifeiPingchuan mixture by RP-HPLC.Methods A Kromasil C18 column was used with methanol-(0.4％)phosphoric acid-triethylamine (45 ∶ 55 ∶ 2 drops) as mobile phase with a column temperature of 28 ℃.The flow rate was 1.0 ml/min.The detection wavelength was set at 277 nm.Results The linear range of baicalin was 0.040～1.000 μg (r=0.9999) with a average recovery of 99.82 and RSD of 1.01％.Conclusion The method for quantification of baicalin was sensitive,accurate,and convenient,which can also be used as one of basis of quality standard for Yifei-Pingchuan mixture.

Objective To investigate the action of inorganic arsenic in the induction of DNA strand breaks in primary cultured human skin fibroblasts. Methods Sodium arsenate and sodium arsenite were used as test inorganic arsenics. DNA strand breaks were assessed by single cell gel electrophoresis assay (SCGE). Results Arsenate at 1～10 ?mol/L dose_dependently induced DNA strand breaks in cells. Arsenate at lower concentrations induced mainly degree I DNA strand breaks, while the proportion of cells with degree Ⅱ DNA strand breaks increased to 50% when treated with 10?mol/L arsenate,but no cells with degree ⅢDNA strand breaks were observed.Cells treated with 1?mol/L arsenite showed no significant increase in DNA strand breaks. At the concentration of 10?mol/L, however, arsenite induced DNA strand breaks with different degrees, and the apoptotic type DNA strand breaks were the major type. Conclusion Sodium arsenate mainly induced general type DNA strand breaks and sodium arsenite induced apoptotic type,beside general type of DNA strand breaks in primary cultured human skin fibroblasts. This could be explained by their different reaction modes with DNA, and further studies were needed.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the use of psychotropic substances for outpatients in our hospital.METHODS: The psychiatric substances used in the outpatients between June and December in 2006 were analyzed statistically in respect of the defined daily dose,DDDs and average daily expense etc.RESULTS: Of the total 7 286 prescriptions analyzed,the psychotropic substances prescribed totaled 12 kinds,of which,2 were typeⅠ,and 10 type Ⅱ.Estazolam,Alprazolam and Diazepam ranked at the first three places in terms of numbers of prescriptions;Estazolam,Alprazolam and Clonazepam ranked at the first three places in terms of DDDs;Zolpidem,Midazolam and Alprazolam ranked at the first three places in terms of consumption sum;Nitrazepam,Estazolam and Phenobarbital ranked at the lowest places in terms of average daily expense.CONCLUSION: Of the total psychiatric substances consumed in the outpatients of our hospital,benzodiazepines were used predominantly for their merits of low cost but proved efficacy.

Histological characters of stems of Cirsium japonicum Fisch. ex DC. and C.chinense Gardn. et Champ. were described, compared and illustrated with line drawings. It was found that the following characters are important for disting uishing the two plants;(1) the type of stomata, vessels or fibres; (2) the presence or absence of secretory canal or tracheids.
