2.Study on "Hegu (LI 4) regulates face and mouth" based on palmomental reflex.

OBJECTIVETo explore the correlation between hand and face-mouth, so as to provide nerve reflex basis for the theory "Hegu (LI 4) regulates face and mouth".
METHODSSeven hundred and sixty-three participants who met the inclusive criteria were divided into different age groups. The skin around participants' thenar eminence was gently scraped to be observed whether there was an involuntary movement around the face or mouth, which was palmomental reflex. The results of palmomental reflex were recorded.
RESULTSThe total occurrence rate of palmomental reflex was 46.26%. For those who were 0 to 1 years old, the palmomental reflex was all positive; for those who were 21 to 36 years old, the positive rate was 20.45%, which was the lowest; for those who were 65 to 85 years old, more than half of them were positive. The majority of those who were 0 to 2 years old were bilateral positive palmomental reflex, while the majority of those who were 65 to 85 years old were unilateral positive palmomental reflex.
CONCLUSIONThere is a certain connection between hand and face-mouth. The occurrence rate of palmomental reflex changes from high to low over age increasing, and then changes from low to high with the aging, presenting a "high-low-high" U-shaped curve, which is possible related to the growth and recession of nervous system.

3.Protective effect of bFGF gene modified mesenchymal stem cells on cerebral ischemia in rats

Objective To investigate the protective effect of basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF) gene modified mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs-bFGF)on cerebral isehemia in rats.Methods MSCs or MSCs-bFGF were transplanted into rat models of focal cerebral ischemia by intravenous injection.The neurological deficits and infarction volumes were evaluated,and the survival rate and differentiation of grafted MSCs were observed by double immunofiuoreseent labeling.Results In the rat cerebral ischemic model, both MSCs and MSCs-bFGF showed protective effect on the rats in comparison with control group.However, the protective effect was more significant in MSCs-bFGF group.Double immunofluorescent staining showed the number of BrdU-labeled and NeuN co-expression cells in MSCs-bFGF treated animals(127.40?7.43 and 11.20?3.09)were much more than in those of MSCs treated animals.While there was no significant difference between MSCs-bFGF and MSCs group in the number of GFAP co-expression cells.Conclusion MSCs transplantation has protective effect on cerebral ischemia in rats.Basic fibroblast growth factor gene modified MSCs is more effective than MSCs in neuroproteetion.
4.The clinical analysis of 51 taxi drivers with peptic ulcer.

OBJECTIVETo explore the main pathogenic factor causing the peptic ulcer of taxi drivers, which provide the basis for its prevention.
METHODS98 taxi drivers were inspected by electronic endoscopy, according to the inspection all cases were divided into ulcers group and normal group. Then various factors were statuses by the logistic regression analysis according to the results of questionnaire.
RESULTSThe prevalence of peptic ulcer of taxi drivers was 52.0%, and logistic regression analysis showed that dining time, taste spicy, meals temperature, smoking,alcohol, mental stress, HP infection and stomach health knowledge were statistically significant (P < 0.05), which would be the risk factors for peptic ulcer of taxi drivers.
CONCLUSIONBy emphasis on diet and lifestyle adjustments, stress regulation on the basis of eradication of HP infection will help the prevention and treatment of peptic ulcer of the taxi driver.

5.Comparison of surgical outcomes after different surgical approach for middle or lower thoracic esophageal squamous cancer.

OBJECTIVETo compare outcomes of left and right thoracic incision for middle and lower thoracic esophageal squamous cancer, and to determine reasonable surgical approach for thoracic esophageal squamous carcinoma.
METHODSOne hundred and twenty patients with middle or lower thoracic esophageal squamous cancer who received esophagectomy plus lymphadenectomy between January 2004 and December 2007 were divided into two groups including left(n=60) and right thoracic(n=60) approach. Clinical data were analyzed including the results of surgical resection, lymphadenectomy, postoperative complication, recurrence, and survival.
RESULTSThe rate of surgical resection was 91.7%(55/60) in the left approach group and 95%(57/60) in the right approach group. There was no significant difference(P>0.05). But the average number of lymph nodes resected (4.60 vs. 8.32) and metastatic lymph nodes(0.57 vs. 1.33) were both significantly higher in the right approach group(P<0.01). There was no statistical difference in postoperative complications[26.7%(16/60) vs. 31.7%(19/60), P>0.05] between the two groups. However, the incidence of local recurrence was lower[43.3%(26/60) vs. 23.3%(14/60), P<0.05] in the right approach group than that in left-approach group. There was no significant difference in distant metastasis(P>0.05).
CONCLUSIONSThe resection rate is comparable between left and right approach for thoracic esophageal cancer. However, it is easier to perform systemic lymphadenectomy via right thoracic approach and therefore the local recurrence is reduced and long-term survival improved.

6.In vitro evaluation of low-temperature aging effects of Y2O3 stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystals dental ceramics.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the influence of in vitro low-temperature degradation (LTD) treatment on the structural stability of 5 kinds of Y2O3 stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystals (Y-TZP) dental ceramics.
METHODSTZ-3YS powder was compacted at 200 MPa using cold isostatic pressure and pre-sintered at 1050 degrees C for 2 h forming presintered blocks. Specimens were sectioned into 15 mm x 15 mm x 1.5 mm slices from blocks of TZ-3YS, Vita In-Ceram YZ, Ivoclar, Cercon Smart, and Kavo Y-TZP presintered blocks, 18 slices for each brand, and then densely sintered. Specimens were divided into 6 groups and subjected to an accelerated aging test carried out in an autoclave in steam at 134 degrees C, 0.2 MPa, for 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 h. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to identify crystal phases and relative content of monoclinic phase was calculated. Specimens for three-point bending test were fabricated using TZ-3YS ceramics according to the ISO 6872 standard and bending strength was tested before and after aging. The polished and aging specimens of TZ-3YS and Cercon Smart zirconia ceramics were observed by atomic force microscopy (AFM) to evaluate surface microstructure.
RESULTSTetragonal-to-monoclinic phase transformation was detected for specimens of TZ-3YS, Vita In-Ceram YZ, Ivoclar, and Kavo zirconia ceramics except for Cercon Smart ceramics after aging, and the relative content of monoclinic phase was increasing with the prolonged aging time. TZ-3YS was the most affected material, Kavo took the second, and Vita and Ivoclar were similar. Aging had no significant negative effects on flexural strength of TZ-3YS with average bending strength being over 1100 MPa. The nucleation and growth of monoclinic phase were detected by AFM in surface of Cercon Smart zirconia in which monoclinic phase was not detected by XRD.
CONCLUSIONSThe results suggest that LTD of dental Y-TZP is time dependent, but the aging test does not reduce the flexural strength of TZ-3YS. The long-term clinical serviceability of dental Y-TZP needs further observation.

This research use "3414" fertilizer effect experiments to handle zinc, boron and molybdenum trace element fertilizer, determined the dry matter accumulation and content of saikosaponion a and d, to investigate the different ratio of zinc, boron and molybdenum on yield and saikosaponin a, saikosaponin d contents of Bupleurum chinense. Found The suitable ratio of zinc, boron and molybdenum play an active role on dry matter accumulation and distribution, the treatment Zn2B2Mo3 is the best one to promote the dry matter accumulation and transfer to the underground part; in a certain range, only use zinc or molybdenum can promote the yield of B. chinense, the yield of treatment Zn2B2Mo1 is the highest one. According to the results of regression analysis: in accordance with Zn 48.45 g x hm(-2), B 355.05 g x hm(-2), Mo 86.40 g x hm(-2), can obtain the yield with 3313.05 kg x hm(-2); the treatment Zn2BMo2 is most effective to promote the total saikosaponin a and d accumulated, according to the results of regression analysis: in accordance with Zn 36.15 g x hm(-2), B 343.05 g x hm(-2), Mo 106.35 g x hm(-2), the content of total saikosaponin a and d can reach 1.23%. This research first discovered the suitable ratio of zinc, boron and molybdenum can promote the yield and saikosaponin a, saikosaponin d contents on B. chinense.

8.Evaluation of Bupleuri Radix resources in Qingchuan based on DTOPSIS and grey related degree.

In order to select high quality and suitable Bupleuri Radix varieties in Qingchuan, and establish a new comprehensive method to evaluation the quality of Bupleuri Radix, 12 characters of 14 samples were evaluated by DTOPSIS and grey related degree. The results showed that varieties No. 8 and No. 10 had high quality. DTOPSIS and grey related degree gave the uniformity result, and the biggest difference of value of Ci in DTOPSIS method was 46. 33% , but the biggest difference of the weighting correlation number( r (i)) in grey related degree was only 13.10%. The DTOPSIS combined with grey related degree can evaluate the quality of Bupleuri Radix comprehensively and objectively.

9.Effect of folate and vitamin B_(12) on tau phosphorylation in hippocampus of elderly rats

Objective To investigate the relationship of folates,vitamin B_(12) with tan phosphorylation and the possible mechanism in Alzhcimer's disease (AD).Method Tau protein phosphorylation was examined in hippocampns of rats of two months old and forty months old treated or untreated by folates and vitamin B_(12) using Western blot and immunohistochemistry with phosphorylation dependent and independent tau antibodies.Results We found that tau phosphorylation in aged rat brain showed a significant higher level than that in the two-month olds.Folates combined with vitamin.B_(12) could decrease tau phosphorylation by 27% at the site of Ser396/404 of hippoeampus in aged rats.Conclusion It suggests folates and vitamin B_(12) may play an important role in preventing the neurodegenerative change via effeeting tau phosphorylation in AD brain.
10.Residual undifferentiated embryonic stem cells in embryoid bodies

Objective To explore the residual undifferentiated mouse embryonic stem cells (ESCs) in embryoid bodies. Methods Mouse R1 and Oct-4-GFP transgenic ESCs were firstly cultured in suspension to form embryoid bodies (EBs). Twenty days later, EBs were digested into single cells and then re-plated in standard ESC culture condition. The morphology of residual undifferentiated cells in EBs was observed, and surface makers and in vitro redifferentiation potency of residual cells were examined by flow cytometry and immunofluoreseent staining. The residual cells were expanded and subcutaneously injected into nude mice, and the specimens were harvested from the injection site for histological analysis 6 weeks after injection. Results There were residual undifferentiated ESCs in EBs differentiated for 20 days, which displayed clonal morphology and expressed undifferentiated cell markers of ESCs, including SSEA1, CD31, CD9 and Oct-4. The cells could be differentiated to form EBs again, and could be re-expanded from secondary EBs. The residual cells were able to form teratoma at the injection site, and mature endoderm, mesoderm and ectoderm tissues could be found in teratoma tissues. Conclusion There are residual undifferentiated ESCs after differentiation of ESCs into EBs. The residual ESCs can differentiate again in vitro and in vivo, and can residue again in the in vitro differentiation.
