2.Application of the cervical back muscle trainer in the cervical back muscle exercise
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2006;12(5):445-446
ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of a cervical back muscle trainer. MethodsA cervical back muscle trainer designed by ourself was used in 128 patients with different kinds of cervical spondylosis. The situation of pain and activity of daily life of the patients before and 1 month after treatment were recorded and compared. ResultsThe neck pain of all of the patients nearly completely disappeared in a month and their activity of daily life improved significantly(P<0.01). ConclusionThe cervical back muscle trainer can improve the stability of cervical vertebrae through increasing the strength of the cervical back muscle, which can be used as an assistant rehabilitation approach of all kinds of cervical spondylosis.

Chinese Journal of General Surgery 2000;0(12):-
Objective To investigate the value of ultrasound examination in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis. Methods Emergency abdominal ultrasound examination was performed on 152 children who had clinically suspected acute appendicitis. Results Sixty-three children were diagnosed as acute appendicitis by ultrasound . Among them, fifty-nine children had emergency appendectomy; the other 4 had delayed appendectomy six months after conservative therapy for appendiceal mass. All of the diagnoses were confirmed to be correct by pathologis examination . Among the other 89 children, the diagnosis was luteinic rupture in 4, choledochal cyst in 2, omental cyst in 1, hydronephrosis in 1, and nephrolithiasis in 1. Eighty of them were diagnosed as mesenteric lymphadenitis and treated conservatively. Seventy-six of these eighty children recovered , and appendectomy was performed on four patients. In two of them the diagnosis was suppurative appendicitis, and in two, the diagnosis was simple appendicitis. Conclusions Combined with consideration of the symptoms and signs, ultrasound is valuable in the diagnosis of appendicitis.

Hypertension is one of main risk factors for the occurrence and death of stroke and coronary heart disease. Its prevalence rate is rising year by year. It severely threatens the health of the human beings. The acupuncture method of "activating blood and dispersing wind, harmonizing Gan-Pi" for treating hypertension launched by Academician SHI Xue-min has aroused great attention due to good cur- ative effect and less adverse reactions. In this paper principles of the circular motion covered by the acupuncture method of "activating blood and dispersing wind, harmonizing Gan-Pi" were clarified.

Objective To assess the feasibility of double phase subtraction angiography with second generation (128-slice )dual-source CT in low dose Flash spiral scan mode for the evaluation of cerebral vessel, compared with dual-energy subtraction angiogra-phy.Methods 60 patients underwent double phrase CT angiography were divided into group A (n = 30,with Flash spiral scan mode),group B(n=30,with dual-energy scan mode). The signal-to-noise ratio(SNR),the contrast-to-noise ratio(CNR)and the av-erage radiation of double phrase subtraction images were measured in two groups, respectively. The double phase subtraction images quality were graded by 2 independent readers on a 5-point scale(5=excellent)in double-blind,according to various degrees of the re-sidual bones, the vessel displayed and luminal integrity, respectively.Differences between two groups were analyzed by Mann-whit-ney test and t test. Results The double phrase image SNR showed no difference to both two groups(P >0.05).The image CNR of arterial and venous phase in group A were higher than that of group B(40.89±8.89 and 40.27 ±9.90 in group A vs 35.28 ±8.43 and 34.89±8.66 in group B;P <0.05)respectively.There were no singnificant difference in the bone removal image scores of doub-le phase and in the vessel image scores of venous phase to both two groups respectively(P >0.05).The vessel image scores of arterial phase were higher in group A than that of group B(4.93±0.25 vs 3.87±0.97;P <0.05).Some internal carotid in the base of skull has not good luminal integrity in group B.The mean dose length product (DLP)in group A was lower than that of group B,with a 39 percent reduction[(226±5.69 )mGy/cm vs (368 ± 21.35 )mGy/cm,P < 0.05 ].Conclusion With the roughly similar image quality to dual-energy double phase subtraction angiography, the cerebral vessels can be assessed using dual-source CT subtraction angiography in Flash spiral scan mode and a lower radiation dose.

Objective To investigate the clinical features and prognostic factors of Epstein-Barr virus-associated hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (EBV-HLH) in adults. Methods Clinical data of 40 adult patients with EBV-HLH admitted in the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University during January 2010 and September 2013 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into fatal group or survival group based on the results of 1-month follow-up.Logistic regression analysis was performed to identify risk factors of early death. Results EBV-HLH in clinic were characterized by fever, hepatosplenomegaly and lymphadenopathy. The incidences of peripheral blood cytopenias in 2 or 3 lines, hepatic dysfunction and hyperferritinemia in EBV-HLH patients were 60.0% (24/40),95.0% (38/40) and 94.9% (37/39),respectively.Hemophagocytic phenomenon in bone marrow was observed in 83.8% patients (31/37).Soluble CD25 (sCD25) was detected in 12 patients, and all were higher than 2 400 pg/mL.Nineteen patients died 1 month after fiual diagnosis with a fatality rate of 47.5%.Univariate logistic regression analysis indicated that EBV-DNA > 105 copies/mL (OR =4.85,95% CI:1.14-25.83,P < 0.05),PLT < 50 × 1012/L (OR =6.81,95 % CI:1.41-32.83,P < 0.05),total bilirubin > 50 μmol/L (OR =6.91,95% CI:1.24-38.52,P <0.05),albumin < 30 g/L (OR =7.50,95% CI:1.80-31.28,P < 0.01),serum ferritin >5 000 μg/L (OR =8.75,95% CI:2.03-37.67,P <0.01) and polyserositis (OR =5.40,95% CI:1.18-24.64,P <0.05) were risk factors of death within 1 month after final diagnosis, while chemotherapy was a protective factor of early death (OR =0.15,95% CI:0.03-0.81,P < 0.05).Conclusions EBV-HLH in adult has a poor prognosis.Significant elevated EBV-DNA,total bilirubin or serum ferritin, and notable decrease of peripheral blood platelet count or albumin level may indicate a poor prognosis, while chemotherapy may reduce the risk of early death.

The present study aimed to investigate the effect and the mechanisms of Bu-zhong-yi-qi-tang (BZYQ) on Spleen-Qi deficiency rat's model using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) metabolomics and multivariate statistical analysis methods. The rat Spleen-Qi deficiency model was established as follows: oral administration of Radix Rhei extract, loaded swimming and starvation for 24 h. The body weight and motor behavior of the rats were measured and recorded once a week. BZYQ could significantly improve body weight and behavioral of Spleen-Qi deficiency model rats compared with the model group (P < 0.05, 0.01). After drug administration, the changes in the levels of endogenous metabolites in the spleen including decreasing lactate, taurine and hypoxanthine, increasing glutamate and scyllo-inositol compared with the model group. The metabolomics approach is an effective tool for the investigation of the pharmacologic mechanism of BZYQ and it is helpful to further research.
