ObjectiveTo determine thallium in whole blood by atomic absorption detection method, and to investigate the eliminating effect of hemoperfusion (HP) for thallium in blood. Methods The blood of Beagle dogs which had not exposed to thallium before were obtained for preparation of thallium nitrate (TlNO3)-containing solution in three concentrations according to the conversion formula based on animal weight and volume of blood. HP was performed in the simulated in vivo environment. The content of TlNO3 in blood of the next group was determined on the amount of TlNO3 for the last HP of the former dose group. Thallium quantity in different samples was measured with atomic absorption spectrometer blood samples before and after HP. Finally, the thallium concentration in blood was analyzed statistically. Results Thallium concentrations showed a good linear relationship in the range of 0-200μg/L (r = 0.998 4). The intra-day precision (RSD) was lower than 4.913%, the intra-day recovery rate was 96.2%-111.9%; the inter-day precision (RSD) was lower than 7.502%, the inter-day recovery rate was 89.6%-105.2%. The concentration of thallium in blood was significantly reduced after HP per time in high, middle, and low dose groups [(453.43±27.80) mg/L to (56.09±14.44) mg/L in high dose group,F = 8.820,P = 0.003;(64.51±13.60) mg/L to (3.19±0.23) mg/L in middle dose group,F = 36.312,P = 0.000; (5.40±0.98) mg/L to (0.38±0.25) mg/L in low dose group,F = 46.240,P = 0.000]. The adsorption rate of four times of HP in high, middle and low dose group were (87.63±2.48)%, (95.06±1.54)% and (92.76±4.87)%, respectively, without significant difference (F = 4.231,P = 0.070 ).Conclusions The method for measuring thallium was established, and it shows a very stable, simple, sensitive for determination of thallium. HP can effectively remove thallium from blood. Thallium concentration can be reduced by 90% after four times of HP. HP is also effective even when thallium concentration is not high.

Objective:
To establish a method for the determination of furans in tea by headspace-gas chromatographic mass spectrometry.
Methods:
The 20% sodium chloride solution and isotope internal standards were added to the crushed and weighed tea sample. Furan, 2-methylfuran, 3-methylfuran, 2,5-dimethylfuran were separated by HP-PLOT Q capillary column and then determined by gas chromatography mass spectrometry with electron impact ionization mode.
Results:
In the range of 5-400 ng, good linear relationships were observed in the four furan compounds, with the correlation coefficients ranging from 0.999 2 to 0.999 6. The detection limits ranged from 0.2 to 1.9 μg/kg, the quantification limit ranged from 0.4 to 3.1 μg/kg. The recovery rates of furans ranged from 95.4% to 128.2% when spiked at 5.0, 20.0 and 100.0 μg/kg, and the relative standard deviations ranged from 0.8% to 11.3%. Eighty-one tea samples were determined, the concentration of four furan compounds was highest in black tea, followed by dark tea, oolong tea, green tea and scented tea.
Conclusion
Headspace-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry can reduce the matrix interference of tea, and meet the requirements in the linear range, recovery and precision, which is suitable for simultaneous determination of four furan compounds in tea.

An enantioselective method was developed for the separation and determination of three chiral hexabromocyclododecanes ( HBCDs ) including α-HBCD, β-HBCD, γ-HBCD in soil and earthworm by HPLC-ID-MS/MS. d18-HBCDs used as internal standards were added to the samples before extraction. HBCDs enantiomers were extracted from soil by accelerated solvent extraction ( ASE ) with n-hexane/DCM (1:1,V/V) at 100℃ and 10 MPa for 5 min, and further cleaned up using silica column. HBCDs enantiomers were extracted from earthworm by vortex turbulence with ethyl acetate. The extracts were orderly sulphonated by sulfuric acid, and purified by silica column. For all HBCDs enantiomers, good linearities were obtained in the concentration range of 0. 25-50 ng/mL. Limits of detection ( LOD) and limits of quantification ( LOQ) were 0. 00544-0. 00766 ng/g and 0. 0173-0. 0244 ng/g, respectively in soil. The recoveries of spiked samples at 0. 05 and 2. 5 ng/g levels were 80. 0%-95. 9% with relative standard deviations ( RSD, %) of 5. 7%-11. 9% in soil. Limits of detection (LOD) and limits of quantification (LOQ) were 0. 0103-0. 0148 ng/g and 0. 0328-0. 0471 ng/g, respectively in earthworm. The recoveries of spiked samples at 0. 1 and 5 ng/g levels were 78. 0% -94. 4% with relative standard deviations ( RSD, %) of 6. 1% -12. 2% in earthworm. This method can meet the requirements of determination of trace HBCDs in soil and earthworm.

Objective To investigate the relationship between cow's milk protein allergy(CMPA)and gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD)and the prognosis of GERD combined with CMPA.Methods Fifty patients(24 boys and 26 girls)with GERD were enrolled in this study from January 2015 to June 2016 at Department of Pediatrics,Tangdu Hospital of the Fourth Military Medical University. All children were treated with serum milk protein soluble IgE(sIgE)and milk protein avoidance test, and those with positive results of children's milk protein by provocation test and those with milk serum protein sIgE negative by milk protein provocation tests were diagnosed as CMPA children with GERD according to the CMPA diagnostic criteria and received diet therapy for 1 month and then their blood eosinophil ratio and 24-hour esophageal pH were monitored. Results Twenty-three cases(46%)of 50 children with GERD were diagnosed as CMPA.There was significant difference in clinical symptoms between GERD group and GERD combined with CMPA group(x2=22.78,P<0.05),but there existed cross-symptoms among individual patients,so clinical accurate diagnosis turned out to be difficult. There was no significant difference in family history of allergy between GERD group and GERD combined with CMPA group(x2=3.19,P>0.05).For children with GERD combined with CMPA,the patients received dietary treatment for 1 month. There was significant improvement in vomiting, runny nose/wheezing/cough and diarrhea(P<0.05).However,because the treatment of eczema was long and it could relapse easily, there was no significant change after 1 month of therapy(P>0.05).The proportions of blood eosinophils were decreased after treatment compared with those before treatment [(2.7±1.8)%vs.(8.2±2.7)%,t=10.006,P<0.01].The results of 5 children's 24-hour esophageal pH monitoring showed that the reflux index and the number of acid GERD episodes were lower than before, and the difference was all statistically significant before and after(all P<0.05).Conclusions The occurrence of GERD in infants is partly related to CMPA,and the treatment of CMPA can relieve the clinical symptoms of GERD.

Chinese Journal of Preventive Medicine 2017;51(2):188-192
Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), a kind of important Brominated Flame Retardant (BFR), are widely used in electronic products, construction materials and textiles. PBDEs have been detected in many environmental media (including air, water, dust, sediment and food), many animal and human tissues. For their environmental persistence, high bioaccumulative and multiple biotoxicitiies, PBDEs have been viewed as one of the most concerned environmental Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs) at present. Although detailed mechanisms are not clear, studies have found that PBDEs can induce toxicity to liver, endocrine system, nervous system, reproduction and immune system. What's more, lots of experiments indicate that PBDEs exposure can alter the levels of thyroid hormones. Recently, studies on the impact of PBDEs exposure on thyroid hormones have been quite a few and have not reached an agreement, especially on the alternation of thyroid hormones caused by PBDEs exposure, which has also been a hot issue. This paper reviews from the basic properties, usage, exposure and biotoxicity of PBDEs. We mainly introduce the impact PBDEs have on the thyroid and thyroid hormones in terms of biotoxicity, and attach importance to the endocrine disruption and neurodeveloptoxicity. We also give a preliminary introduction to hydroxylated and methoxylated polybrominated diphenyl ethers, structural analogs of PBDEs, which researchers start late to study. This paper can be a reference for the further research on PBDEs exposure and biotoxicity.
