Objective To explore the effects of peripheral stem cell transplantation on extremely severe bone marrow form of acute radiation sickness. Methods One patient was radiated aecidently with the radiation dosage of 9~15 Gy and diagnosed as extremely severe bone marrow form of acute radiation sickness.Pretreatment was performed at 4th day after the accident and 3 days later,HLA- matched allogeneic stem cell transplantation on the patient was performed.Graft versus host disease (GVHD) was prevented with cyclosporin A (CsA) and mycophenolate mofetil (MMF).Results The haematopoiesis was recovered at 9th day after transplantation. At 11th day after transplantation, WBCs were increased to 14.74?10~9/L and returned to the normal levels subsequently, number of platelets risen to 51?10~9/L and hemaglobin was over 80 g/L.TRS-PCR and blood type dynamic detection testified that the donor's cells were stably implanted, the chromosome aberration and micro- nuclei disappeared after transplantation, and the patient's blood type changed into the donor's at 27th day after transplantation. But the radiation injury were still getting worse complicated with multiple infections,At 68th day after transplantation (75 days after the accident),the patient was died of mul- tiple organs failure. Conclusion Extremely severe bone marrow form of ARS can achieve hematopoie- sis recovery by allogeneic stem cell transplantation, but only hematopoiesis recovery can not cure the immunodefficiency and the radiation injury of the whole body.

Objective To study the clinical result of the surgical treatment of upper cervical vertebra disease from high anterior cervical retropharyngeal approach. Methods Among 14 patients, there were 7 C_(2.3)disc hernia- rions combined with C_(2.3)dislocations,3 Hangman fractures,2 odontoid process fractures and 2 C_3 tumors. All patients underwent the high anterior cervical retropharyngeal approach.10 cases were given discectomy of C_(2.3)or focus clear- ance of C_3,iliac bone autograft or titanium cage filled and internal fixation with titanium plate.2 cases of odontoid process fractures were given anterior screw fixation. Results 14 cases got successful exposure. The decompression, reduction, lesion clearance and fusion with internal fixation were done in all patients. There were no important vascu- lar or nerve injuries. The surgical treatment could improve the spinal cord nerve function to a certain degree for the cases with compression of spinal cord. Conclusion Good exposure of upper cervical spine and effective surgical oper- ation could be achieved from high anterior cervical retropharyngeal approach, with minimal trauma and complication, and it was a favorable approach.

Objective To observe the effectiveness of comprehensive rehabilitation on the recovery of motor function of patients with severe cerebral injury in recovery phase. Methods 72 cases with severe cerebral injury in recovery phase were randomly divided into rehabilitation group (n=38) and control group (n=34). Patients in control group were treated with routine method, and those in rehabilitation group with comprehensive rehabilitation treatment in addition. Results Motor function, activities of daily living (ADL) and complication of patients were evaluated at the first day and two months later after be in hospital. The effect of comprehensive rehabilitation treatment were better than that of control group(P<0.05,P<0.01). Conclusion Comprehensive rehabilitation is important to the patients with severe cerebral injury of recovering, not only in recovery of motor function but also in reducing the complication.

National Journal of Andrology 2008;14(8):743-748
With the approaching of the aged society, the number of patients with BPH and those with prostate cancer is increasing, particularly the latter. As the gold standard for the treatment of the two diseases, prostate surgery falls into various types, each with its own characteristics in postoperative recovery of sexual function. In the past few years, the traditional laparotomy procedure has been gradually replaced by the laparoscopic technique. Doctors and patients are not merely satisfied with the improvement of micturition function any longer; they are beginning to pay more attention to the pre- and post-operative sexual function. This paper gives an overview of the influence of various types of prostatectomy on male sexual function.

Objective To investigate the changes of protein kinase C(PKC)activity in peripheral blood T lymphocytes in children with chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura(CITP)and the relationship between PKC activity,T lymphocytes activation and thrombocytes decrease. Methods Collecting sterile peripheral blood from CITP children(n=30)and healthy children(n=30),T lymphocytes were isolated and purified by the T cell segregation enrichment column, the PKC activity was detected by non-radioactive assay.Soluble interleukin-2 receptor(sIL-2R),which was T cell activated marker, was determined by enzyme-linked immunoabsorbent assay(ELISA),platelet was counted by cell counting meter. Results Compared with healthy children,PKC activity was significantly enhanced in CITP children[(0.94?0.23)mmol/(min?L)vs(0.50?0.17)mmol/(min?L),t= 8.42 P

OBJECTIVEThe aim of this investigation was to examine the changes of the color stability, surface microstructure and chemical constitution of light-curing composite resin after accelerated aging, and the relations between them.
METHODSFour light-curing composite resin were aged in an accelerated aging instrument. The color was measured by CIE L*a*b* with a spectrophotometer after treatment for 24 h and 96 h. And the color differences were calculated. Environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) spectrometer were used to examine the microstructure and chemical composition of the specimens before and after accelerated aging. The color differences were analyzed statistically by repeated-measures two-way analysis of variance and t-test after aging for 24 h and 96 h. The level of significance was defined as alpha=0.05.
RESULTSThe materials demonstrated statistically significant differences in color after aging between the 24 h and 96 h (P<0.05). There were significant influences on the microstructure and the chemical composition after aging. The matrix appeared some concaves and pores, the filler particles exposed after aging. The energy of chemical bonds were weaken or broken under the aging, and the unsaturated polymer reacted again.
CONCLUSIONThe color differences of the composite resin increase with the aging time and irradiation dose. The hybrid filled composites have the best color stability.

A sensitive liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometric (LC-MS/MS) method was applied for the quantification of each component: tetrahydropalmatine (THP), dehydrocorydaline (DHC), salvianolic acid B (SAB), ginsenoside Rg1, Re, Rb1 and Rd in the Chinese herbal component SSTG (Shuangshentongguan) with different combinations. The pharmacokinetic data were analyzed with WinNonlin 5.2 software. The results showed that combination can increase the THP AUC value while the AUC values of SAB, ginsenoside Rg1, Re, Rb1 and Rd were reduced. These results showed significant differences. The AUC value of ginsenoside Rb1 was increased when combined with Danshen or Yanhusuo, but reduced when combined with Danshen and Yanhusuo. The DHC concentration in serum was too low to be determined.
