1.The in vitro effects of methamidophos on oxygen uptake, carbonic production
Journal of Medical Research 1999;9(1):19-23
(MAP) on O2 uptake, CO2 production and rate of methemoglobin of human erythrocytes. The in vitro effects of methamidophos (MAP) on O2 uptake, CO2 production and rate of methemoglolin of human erythrocytes were studied: (1) after exposure of human erythrocytes to MAP at the concentrations from 1 to 10mM, only at concentration higher than 100mM of MAP in 37oC for 3 hours, the hemolysis was significantly induced. (2) at MAP concentrations between 1 and 10 mM, the significant increase of oxygen uptake and carbonic productions in human erythrocytes was seen. (3) At MAP concentrations between 1 and 10 mM, rate of methemoglobin in erythrocytes was increased significantly. These findings suggest that MAP act as oxidative chemical

2.Advising IVF: assessing indications and treatment delays
Philippine Journal of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility 2005;2(2):85-
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is an established treatment approach for infertility based on the developments the past quarter century. However, there are still a number of reasons which prevent both doctors and patients from embarking on this available treatment option. The current indication for IVF (including endometriosis, tubal pathology, anovulation, male factor infertility-and unexplained infertility) are reviewed considering prognosis for pregnancy using IVF as compared to no/more conventional treatment. Evidence-based data are presented. Also, maternal age as a factor for success in IVF treatment is reviewed. Local setting situations which contribute to delays in treatment are also tackled.

4.Protective effect of HHKV extract on lymphocytes in persons with and without cancer bearing oxygenated stress in vitro
Journal of Practical Medicine 2003;445(3):26-28
The study on blood samples of 20 cancer patients in Hanoi Cancer Hospital and 10 healthy subjects showed that peripheral blood lymphocytes of cancer patients and healthy subjects contacting with low concentration H2O2 (10-8 mol) were damaged dramatically. At the present of HHKV extract 30 mcg/ml in same condition of oxygenated stress lymphocytes were protected partly. There was a higher statistically significant difference of imfulse number in these samples in comparing with no HHKV samples. Apart from antioxidant effect, HHKV had also a stimulant effect in the transformation of lymphocytes. The responses of lymphocyte samples with PHA in healthy persons were 8894.60701.49 and in cancer patients 1890.86459.30

5.Chromosome aberrations induce in human lymphocytes by in vitro acute gamma radiation
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2002;12(5):32-35
In vitro dose-response curve is presented for chromosome aberrations (dic.) in human lymphocytes exposed to acute cobalt-60 gamma radiation at different doses at dose rate of 0.3 Gy/min. The data showed that the relation between frequency of chromosome aberration and radiation dose, fitted to the linear quadric model: y = (4.88 +/- 0.57)x2 + (3.42 +/- 0.97)x + (0.06 +/- 0.08). This serves as basis of biological dosimetry

6.A new activation of lymphocytes T in vitro and in vivo in the hot water extract from leaves of Crinum latifolium L.
Pharmaceutical Journal 1999;274(2):8-10
In this study, we reported the possibility to enhance the "in vitro" and "in vivo" generation and cell (nuclear, nucleolar) activation of human and mouse T-lymphocytes by using Crinum latifolium (L.) (Vietnam) hot aqueous extracts (1-8mg/ml). For this purpose human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from healthy donors were obtained and cultured in supplemented RPMI 1640 containing (1:3) a hot aqueous extract from Cirnum latifolium (L.) (Vietnam). Adherent and non adherent cells that represent stimulated/effectors T - cells were examined cytochemically and by the immunocyto chemical methods - for CD4+ and CD8+T - cell verification. The result obtained showed that this plant extract can efficiently stimulate human CD4+T cells in vitro. The same extract applied in vivo, using healthy Balb/c mice, has the capacity to induce lymphocytosis and a strong T - cell activation in the peripheral blood of experimental animals. Since some alkaloids like lycorine have been previously showed as active molecules in the hot aqueous extract of Crinum asisticum, we presume their and other biologically active substances capacity to induce in vitro and in vivo T-lymphocytes generation and T-cell blast transformation. The possible cellular - mechanisms of Crinum latifolium (L.) (Vietnam) hot aqueous extract simulative effects are discussed in relationships to T - cell immune mechanism in normal and pathological cases as neoplasias and leukaenmias.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of three types of intraoral scanners and the accuracy of the single abutment and bridge abutment model. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this study, a single abutment, and a bridge abutment with missing first molar was fabricated and set as the reference model. The reference model was scanned with an industrial three-dimensional scanner and set as reference scan data. The reference model was scanned five times using the three intraoral scanners (CS3600, CS3500, and EZIS PO). This was set as the evaluation scan data. In the three-dimensional analysis (Geomagic control X), the divided abutment region was selected and analyzed to verify the scan accuracy of the abutment. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software (α = .05). The accuracy of intraoral scanners was compared using the Kruskal-Wallis test and post-test was performed using the Pairwise test. The accuracy difference between the single abutment model and the bridge abutment model was analyzed by the Mann-Whitney U test. RESULTS: The accuracy according to the intraoral scanner was significantly different (P < .05). The trueness of the single abutment model and the bridge abutment model showed a statistically significant difference and showed better trueness in the single abutment (P < .05). There was no significant difference in the precision (P = .616). CONCLUSION: As a result of comparing the accuracy of single and bridge abutments, the error of abutment scan increased with increasing scan area, and the accuracy of bridge abutment model was clinically acceptable in three types of intraoral scanners.
