Objective To compare the effects of rib internal fixation and thoracic external fixation in treatment of traumatic flail chest. Methods Eighty six cases of traumatic flail chest with multiple injuries,admitted to hospital from January 2006 to June 2009 ,were recruited into the study and divided into rib internal fixation and thoracic external fixation groups randomly. The clinical data were analyzed retrospectively. Rib internal fixations with Ti-Ni shape memory alloy embracing connector were performed in internal-fixation group(n = 45) and thoracic external fixations were performed in external-fixation group(n = 41). The outcomes were compared between the two groups. Results No patient in internal-fixation group developed chest wall deformity,while 19 patients in external-fixation group had chest wall deformity left. Conclusion Rib internal fixation for traumatic flail chest can quickly correct chest wall deformity, stabilize thoracis and eliminate paradoxical chest wall movement. Patients accepted this treatment have a shorter therapy process during the intensive care unit and hospital stay, less pulmonary complications. They also show less long-term restrictive pulmonary functions impairment, when compared to the patients in the thoracic external fixation group. Rib internal fixation with Ti-Ni shape memory alloy embracing connector is a simple and effective therapy.

Objective To explore the changes of plasma brain natriuretic peptide(BNP) and N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP)of sepsis combined with myocardial injury in newborns.Methods According to neonatal sepsis treatment program,45 cases of sepsis newborns in NICU of the Second Hospital in Lanzhou University from Jul.2007 to Jun.2008 were collected.According to the myocardial injury diagnostic criteria,45 cases neonatal sepsis were divided into myocardial injury group(n=22) and non-myocardial injury group(n=23).Myocardial injury group was also divided into congenital heart disease group and non-congenital heart disease group accor-ding to echocardiography.At the same time,30 healthy newborns were collected as healthy control group.Every newborns were tested the level of plasma BNP,NT-proBNP,creatine kinase-MB(CK-MB) and cardiac-troponin I (cTnI).Results There were significant difference between myocardial injury group,non-myocardial injury group and healthy control group in the levels of plasma BNP,NT-proBNP,CK-MB and cTnI,those in congenital heart disease group were higher than those in non-myocardial injury group and the healthy control group(Pa0.05).Conclusions BNP and NT-proBNP can be early used to diagnose myocardial injury and heart failure of neonatal sepsis associated with CK-MB and cTnI.In NICU,infants with sepsis should normally test BNP and NT-proBNP in order to early diagnose myocardial injury of neonatal sepsis.

Objective: To analyse the nutritional components and flavorous substance of the white yak,s milk. Method: In collecting the raw milk of eighteen white yaks,dry substance,protein,fat and ash were detected by routine methods;mineral elements by ICPV-1000S inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy,amino acids by 835-Shimadzu amino acid analyzer,volatile substances by GC-MS. Results: The milk of white yak contained dried substance (18.38%),protein (6.53%),fat (5.64%),minerals (0.87%), TAA(6.36%), EAA(2.56%),two limiting amino acids (Met and Trp), EAA / TAA (40.25%), EAA/ NEAA (67.37%); seven flavorous substances: esters, alcohols,ketones and aldehydes,etc. Conclusion: The milk of white yak has distinct propertis: high protein,high fat,high energy,abundant minerals,agreeable flavor,abundant amino acid. So the milk of white yak is an excellent nutritional resource.

Objective To evaluate the effect of adenovirus-mediated siRNA targeting Survivin on tumor growth and metastasis of mouse melanoma.Methods A replication-defective recombinant adenovirus AdH1-siRNA-Survivin targeting mouse Survivin was constructed using the homologous recombination technique.The expression of Survivin protein in B16BL6 cells after infection was detected by Western blotting.Mouse melanoma models were established by subcutaneous injection of B16BL6 cells.AdH1-siRNA-Survivin of 2?109 pfu every week by multi-spot intratumoral or peritumoral injection was performed to every mouse(totally three times).The tumor volume was measured every five days after tumor cell implantation,and the microvessel density(MVD) of tumor was counted by immunohistochemistry under the microscope.For the experimental metastasis assay,B16BL6 cells infected with AdH1-siRNA-Survivin were injected into the tail veins of mice,then the visible black nodules on the lung surface were counted macroscopically at 21th day after tumor cell injection.Results AdH1-siRNA-Survivin could obviously decrease the expression of Survivin protein in B16BL6 cells.When compared with the blank control and AdH1-empty control,the tumor growth was inhibited and MVD was less in the mice injected with AdH1-siRNA-Survivin(P

Objective To understand the characteristics of molecular epidemiology of enterovirus 71(EV71) in children with hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) in Shanghai area during the first half year of 2009. Methods Seventy-three throat swabs and 38 stool samples were collected from 95 hospitalized children with clinical diagnosis of HFMD in Children's Hospital of Fudan University during April to May 2009. TaqMan real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and nest RT-PCR were used to detect EV71 VP1, followed by gene sequencing analysis. Results Six of the 73 throat swabs were EV71 positive with the detection rate of 8.2%. In the 38 stool samples, 24 were EV71 positive with the detection rate of 63.2%. Twenty-eight nested RT-PCR positive samples were sequenced and the genetic analysis showed that 27 were C4 subtype,which were absolute dominant strain and the other one was C2 subtype. The isolated strain from a fatal case was C4 subtype and there was no obvious mutation found in VP1 region. Conclusions EV71 is an important pathogen in HFMD children in Shanghai area during April to May 2009. C4 subtype strains are absolutely dominant, and accompanied by epidemic strains of subtype C2.

Objective To investigate the serum levels of soluble CD23 ( sCD23 ) and thrombopeietin (TPO) in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and their correlation with other prognostic factors. Methods The serum levels of sCD23 and TPO of 25 CLL patients were detected with enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. Flow cytometry was employed to determine the expression of CD38 and ZAP-70 protein. Results TPO level in CLL patients was significantly higher than that in normal controls 67.22 - 1881.77 ng/L and 70. 29 - 147. 98 ng/L respectively, P =0. 003. sCD23 level in CLL patients was significantly higher than that in normal controls 129. 80-405. 31 U/ml and 0. 65 -32. 99 U/ml respectively, P =0. 000. TPO level was significantly correlated with Binet stage and CD38 expression. Objective To analyze the clinical and MRI manifestations of neurosyphilis in order to improve the recognition and di‐agnosis of the disease .Methods The MRI and clinical data of 11 patients with neurosyphilis confirmed in clinic were collected .The patients were categorized into different phenotypic types according to the clinical manifestations ,and the MRI manifestations were al‐so analyzed .Results 5 patients with parenchymal types showed cerebral atrophy .3 patients with meningovascular types showed cer‐ebral infarction .1 patient with encephalitis showed brain signal changes and meningeal enhancement .1 patient without symptom showed signal changes in brain parenchyma and mild enhancement .1 patient of myelopathic type showed signal changes of thoracic spinal cord without enhancement .Conclusion There is an overlap of the MRI findings of neurosyphilis in different clinical pheno‐types ,exhibiting no specifity .Neurosyphilis can be diagnosed when the young patient is manifested as cerebral atrophy ,infarction , MR signal intensity abnormality of cerebral parenchyma and spinal cord ,as well as meningeal enhancement .

Cartilage antuumor component (CATC) was isolated from a 1 mol/L guanidine hydrochloride extract of bovine cartilage by acetone fractioned precipitation and superfiltration. Using human skin fibroblasts as a normal control, it was demonstrated that CATC inhibited the DNA synthesis of Hela, QGY7703 tumor cell lines and bovine artery endothelial cells, but accelerated the normal cells, when the concentration was below 1250 ?g/ml. At the concentration of 5 000 ?g/ml, CATC inhibited the two cell lines. With human tumor stem cell assay, CATC inhibited the stem cell growth of Hela and QGY7703 cell lines. These suggest that CATC has the effects of inhibiting angiogenesis and tumor cells.

Objective:To investigate the relationship between serum homocysteine (HCY), folate (FOL) and methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) C677T, A1298C gene polymorphism in patients with type 2 diabetic nephropathy (DN).Methods:A total of 161 patients with type 2 diabetes diagnosed in Jiangsu Shengze Hospital between January 2017 and December 2018, including 81 DN (41 males, 40 females; age: (61.5±14.2) years), 80 diabetic mellitus without nephropathy (DM; 42 males, 38 females, age: (57.7±10.8) years), and 77 normal controls (NC; 39 males, 38 females, age: (58.2±16.3) years) were retrospectively analyzed. The serum levels of HCY and FOL were detected by enzyme circulation and electrochemiluminescence respectively. TaqMan genotyping technique was used to detect MTHFR 677T&A1298 gene polymorphism. The serum levels of HCY and FOL were compared with one-way analysis of variance (the least significant difference t test), and the distribution differences of MTHFR gene were analyzed by χ2 test. Results:The difference of HCY level among DN, DM and NC groups was significantly different ((19.76±7.81), (15.62±5.01) and (8.09±3.74) μmol/L; F=81.738, P<0.001). The FOL level among the 3 groups was also significantly different ((12.18±3.01), (13.50±2.71) and (15.43±2.95) μg/L; F=26.978, P<0.001). The frequencies of 677T allele (51.2%, 83/162), 677TT/1298AA genotype (25.9%, 21/81) in DN group were significantly higher than those in DM (33.1%, 53/160; 11.2%, 9/80) and NC (33.8%, 52/154; 10.4%, 8/77) groups ( χ2 values: 10.821, 9.099, both P<0.05), but the 1298C allele frequency was not significantly different among the 3 groups (21.6%(35/162, DN) vs 16.9%(27/160, DM) vs 18.2%(28/154, NC); χ2=1.269, P>0.05). The levels of HCY and FOL in individuals with 677TT/1298AA genotype were significantly higher than those in individuals with other genotypes ( F values: 12.955, 15.504, all P<0.05). Conclusion:The abnormal metabolism of HCY and FOL caused by MTHFR C677T&A1298C gene polymorphism may be the genetic risk factor of DN.
