BACKGROUND: Balance disorder of the two neurotransmitters-dopamine and glutamic acid in striatum, participates in the pathogenic process of Parkinson disease. Whether or not electroacupuncutre can regulate the content of glutamic acid in striatum in the treatment of Parkinson disease so as to recover the balance of the two neurotransmitters is needed further investigation.OBJECTIVE: To observe the changes of content of excitatory amino acid (glutamic acid) in striatum of rat with Parkinson disease and the effects of electroacupuncture intervention on these changes.DESIGN: Randomized controlled trial.SETTING: Teaching and Research Section of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Hubei University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.MATERIALS: The experiment was completed in Laboratory for Important Subject (Acupuncture and Moxibustion) of Hubei University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from February to August 2002. A total of 40 healthy SD rats were selected and randomly divided into 4 groups, namely, normal group, model group, sham operation group and electroacupuncutre group with 10 in each group.METHODS: Model group: Rotation model of rat with Parkinson disease was established by method of chemical damage on right substantia nigra.Sham operation group: Method of sham operation was the same as model group, and 3.4 μL physiological saline was injected. Electroacupuncture group: Electroacupuncture treatment was given after model establishment;took Atlas of Experimental Animal Acupoints as reference, selected the acupoints of Taichong and Fengfu, pierced with needles which were connected with G6805 electroacupuncture therapeutic apparatus under the condition of continuous waves and frequency of 2 Hz for 30 minutes, once a day for consecutive 7 days, then detected the content of glutamic acid.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Content of glutamic acid in bilateral striatum of rat in normal group, sham operation group, model group and electroacupuncture group, which was detected by automatic amino acid analyzer.RESULTS: The content of glutamic acid in right striatum of rat in model group was significantly higher than that in contralateral striatum, normal group and sham operation group [the contents of glutamic acid in model group, contralateral striatum, normal group and sham operation group were (101.6±7.49), (71.4±5.65), (61.8±4.38), (62.6±5.21) μg/g respectively,P < 0.01]. The content of glutamic acid in right striatum in electroacupuncture group was significantly lower than that in model group [the contents of glutamic acid in electroacupuncture group and model group were (83.7±5.68), (101.6±7.49) μg/g respectively, P < 0.05], but still higher than that in normal group and sham operation group (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference between the contents of glutamic acid in left striatum in each group (P > 0.05).CONCLUSION: Excitatory amino acid participates in the pathogenic process of Parkinson disease. Therefore, one of the approaches of electroacupuncture treatnent for Parkinsonism is reducing the release of excitatory amino acid.

Geriatrics develops relatively late in medical education, but geriatric medical education is rapidly rising for aggravation of the aging of population. And geriatric medical education is desired of the properties medical sciences, and is also the need of the development itself. Therefore, geriatric medical education should be internationalized, to eventually form distinctive education.
6.Animal models of alcohol liver diseases
Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 2016;32(4):468-472
Chronic alcohol consumption is a leading cause of chronic liver diseases worldwide, resulting in cirrhosis and hepa-tocellular carcinoma. Almost all heavy drinkers develop fatty liv-er, but only 20% ~40% of them develop more severe forms of alcoholic liver diseases such as alcoholic hepatitis and alcoholic fibrosis, and the underlying mechanisms that contribute to the disease progression remain largely unknown. The animal models which can mimic human alcoholic liver diseases are very neces-sary tools for better understanding and exploring the therapy strat-egy of the disease. Currently, the most widely used models for alcoholic liver injury are Lieber-DeCarli model, Tsukamoto-French model, Gao-binge model and others. Here we summarize the recent advances in animal models recapitulating different fea-tures and etiologies of human alcoholic liver diseases. These ani-mal models will be very useful for the mechanism study of alco-holic liver diseases and further new therapeutic drug screening.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2015;32(4):773-778
The successful suppression of clutter arising from stationary or slowly moving tissue is one of the key issues in medical ultrasound color blood imaging. Remaining clutter may cause bias in the mean blood frequency estimation and results in a potentially misleading description of blood-flow. In this paper, based on the principle of general wall-filter, the design process of three classes of filters, infinitely impulse response with projection initialization (Prj-IIR), polynomials regression (Pol-Reg), and eigen-based filters are previewed and analyzed. The performance of the filters was assessed by calculating the bias and variance of a mean blood velocity using a standard autocorrelation estimator. Simulation results show that the performance of Pol-Reg filter is similar to Prj-IIR filters. Both of them can offer accurate estimation of mean blood flow speed under steady clutter conditions, and the clutter rejection ability can be enhanced by increasing the ensemble size of Doppler vector. Eigen-based filters can effectively remove the non-stationary clutter component, and further improve the estimation accuracy for low speed blood flow signals. There is also no significant increase in computation complexity for eigen-based filters when the ensemble size is less than 10.

Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2011;29(5):464-467
Background Proliferative vitreo-retinal diseases include all the overly proliferative diseases of eyes. Many kinds of cytokines play important roles in their pathogenesis.Hypoxia-inducible factor 1α(HIF-1α)participates in the pathogenesis of a lot of ischemic diseases.HIF-1α may play an important role in the pathogenesis of proliferative vitreo-retinal diseases. Objective Present study was to observe the expression of HIF-1α in vitreous body in the eyes with proliferative vitreo-retinal diseases. The vitreous samples were collected during the vitrectomy from 71 eyes of 69 patients(experimental group)including 39 eyes with proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR)and 32 eyes with proliferative Vitreoretinopathy(PVR).Sixteen eyes of 16 patients as the cases control group, including 14 eyes with macular hole(MH)and 2 eyes with epiretinal macular membrane(ERM).What is more, there were 8 vitreous fluid samples of the normal control group. The concentrations of HIF-1α in vitreous body were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The written informed consent was obtained from each patient before any medical procedure. Results The concentrations of HIF-1α in vitreous body in the eyes of experimental group, the cases control group and the normal control group were(294.08±2.97)、(260.41±8.29)、(16.38±3.56)mg/L respectively, showing a significant difference among the three groups(F=248.77,P=0.00).The concentrations of HIF-1α in vitreous body were obviously increased in the eyes of experimental group in comparison with the normal control group and the cases control group respectively(t=22.25,P=0.00;t=2.70,P=0.00 respectively). The concentrations of HIF-1α in vitreous body were increased in the eyes of the cases control group in comparison with the normal control group eyes(t=14.21,P=0.00).There was inferior correlation between the concentrations of HIF-1α in vitreous body in the eyes of experimental group and the course of ophthalmopathy. Conclusion Intravitreous HIF-1α level regulates in the eyes with proliferative vitreo-retinal diseases. Expression of HIF-1α in vitreous had inferior correlation with the course of ophthalmopathy. HIF-1α may play an important role in the pathogenesis of proliferative vitreo-retinal diseases.
