Objective:To determine the effectiveness and validity of morphometric analysis made from dental panoramic tomograms(DPTs) for predicting mandibular bone mineral density(BMD) while taking the result of dual energy X-ray absorptiometry(DXA) as gold standard. Methods: Twenty healthy subjects(8 male,12 female) with intact dentition, aged from 1126 years old, were included in the present study. The BMD of each patient was measured at the lumbar spine(L1-L4) by DXA;the results were obtained based on the density of surface(g/cm2).Dental panoramic radiography was carried out using dental panoramic tomography(RTG230/ENR,made in Italy).Mandibular cortical thickness(MCT) and panoramic mandibular index(PMI) values were calculated and their relationship with DXA measurements were subjected to correlation analysis. The validity of MCT and PMI measurements were assessed by sensitivity and specificity. Results: We found mandibular BMD was positively correlated with MCT(r=0.268,P

Purpose:To investigate the effects and side- ef fects of thalidomide in the treatment of relapsed and refractory multiple myelom a (MM).Methods:There were thirteen men and two women aged 33~7 6 (median 58) years in thalidomide alone group. Two cases were newly diagnosed my eloma; twelve of them were refractory myeloma, including three relapsed cases wh o had experienced autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation (AutoPBS CT); another one is primary plasma cell leukemia. The starting dose was 100mg/d, escalating up to a maximum of 800mg/d. The combination group included twenty me n and seven women aged 40~81 (median 56) years of which case was newly diagnose d myeloma; twenty-five cases were refractory myeloma, two of whom relapsed after AutoPBSCT; another one was primary plasma cell leukemia. Dexamethasone 40mg/d w as used at d 1-4 , d 9-12 , d 17-20 when the dose of thalidomide increased to 400mg/d. Each cycle lasted for one month. Results: The total response rate was 42.9% and 57.7% in thalidomide alone group and in co mbination group, respectively. The response rate in refractory patients was 33.3 % and 44.0% in thalidomide alone group and in combination group, respectively. T here was no difference between the two groups in response rates. Both of the two groups had side effects of constipation and skin rash, etc. in different degree s but usually tolerable. Conclusions:Both thalidomide alone and thalidomide combined with dexamethasone was effective in the treatment of relap sed and refractory MM.

The dialysis for three species of poplar stems apoplast was obtained by microdialysis method, and then the concentration of Na+, K+, Ca2+ in the dialysis sample was directly measured by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry ( GF-AAS) . The flow rate of perfusate was 1μL/min and the cut-off molecular weight of probe was 30 kDa. The real-time and non-destructive test technique established for the detection of ion concentration could be applied in research of poplar biochemical physiology. The recovery of the proposed method was 95. 8%-103. 1%. The contents of sodium ion in Populus wutunensis, Populus simonii and Salix matsudana were 1034-1156 μg/L, 1493-1611 μg/L and 1586-1703 μg/L; potassium ion were 1012-1237 μg/L, 941-964 μg/L and 1095-1201 μg/L; calcium ion were 4976-5237 μg/L, 4786-5042 μg/L and 5893-6142 μg/L. The method could provide reliable data for the study of ion concentration changes of plant response to adapt to all kinds of external environment.

Objective To study the different effects between intermittent eliminating white blood cells and immunosuppressive agents pulse therapy in children′s anaphylatoid purpura nephritis on the base of hormone′s treatment. Methods Twelve cases of anaphylatoid purpura nephritis were enrolled in the study and divided into 2 groups. After failure in the hormone′s treatment, the observation group was applied with intermittent eliminating white blood cells(5 mL/kg,1-2 times/week),and the control group was treated with immunosuppressive agents[cyclophosphamide(CTX) 0.8-1.0 g/m~2,or methotrexate(MTX) 8-10 g/m~2].Results There were no significant differences between the 2 groups. The observation group had no obvious side effects, but the control group all had different side effects. Conclusion The treatment of intermittent eliminating white blood cells can have better effects without the side effect resulting from immunosuppressive agents.

Objective To investigate the influence of coxsackie B virus (CVB) and mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) superinfection on immunological manifestation of recurrent respiratory tract inflammations(RRI) in children. Methods One hundred and thirty-two hospitalized children with RRI between Jan.to Dec.2005 were divided into negative control group,MP infection group,CVB infection group and superintection group by determining anti-MP IgM and anti-CVB IgM.Blood sedimentation,C-reactive protein,IgG,IgA,IgM and T lymphocyte subpopulation etc.were determined in four groups. The anti-MP IgM was determined by specificity immune agglutination test.Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay was used to detect anti-CVB IgM.The IgG,IgA,IgM were determined by simple agar diffusion method.T lymphocyte subpopulation was tested by flow cytometry. Results The percentage of CVB infection was 32.1%,mainly expressed in the 1-3 years old children;the percentage of MP infection was 22.7%,mainly expressed in children over 3 years old.In both CVB and MP infection group, the ten-dency of IgG increased and that of IgA decreased.IgM in the CVB and MP superinfection group was obviously higher than that in negative control group and MP infection group (Pa

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the preparation technic of pantoprazole sodium freeze-dried injection.METHO_ DS:The kinds of auxiliary were screened based on the color and luster, external appearance,pH value, clarity and the compatible stability of pantoprazole sodium lyphilization injection with other infusion solutions;the content and other associated material of freeze-dried injection were determined by HPLC method.RESULTS:With Mannitol being freeze-dried powder supporting agent and disodium edetate being metal ion chelation agent and pH value at9.5~11.5adjusted by NaOH,the calibration curves of the prepared freeze-dried injection was linear within12.0~60.0?g/ml in concentration(r=0.9998),the average recovery rate of which at100.26%,RSD=1.14%(n=9),the labeled amount at98.6%.CONCLUSION:The preparation technics is appropriate and the quality control method is simple and feasible. And the prepared freeze-dried injection is able to meet both the pharmaceutical and clinical requirements.

Objective To observe the tolerance of contemporaneous multiplane operations in obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS). Methods Twenty-three patients were enrolled. According to the different obstructive level, the different operations were chosen to complete upper airway reconstruction in contemporaneous operation group (group A, 13 patients). In the simple palatopharynx level obstructive group (group B, 10 patients), bilateral tonsillectomy and H-UPPP was chosen. Results The operation time in group A was significantly longer than that in group B:(121.0 ± 35.4) min vs.(80.7 ± 25.3) min, P<0.01. The hospital days and adverse events in two groups had no significantly difference (P>0.05). Conclusions Individual therapeutic schedule for OSAHS patients should be formulated. Operating the different obstructive levels simutaneously, which would solve upper airway occlusion and complete the upper airway reconstruction at the same time. No more adverse events happen, compared with the simple palatopharynx level obstructive group, though the operation time may be longer.
