Chinese Journal of Radiology 2001;0(08):-
Objective To investigate the specific CT findings of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST).Methods The CT imaging of 12 cases of GISTs confirmed operatively and pathologically were reviewed and analyzed. The gross pathologic findings of the tumors were compared with the manifestations of CT study. Results Two of the GIST were from the stomach,2 from the duodenum,4 from jejunum, and 1 from the junction of jejunum and ileum, ileum, rectum and mesenterium respectively.5 of 8 cases with GIST from intestine had history of hemafecia or positive of fecal occult blood test.9 of the 12 GISTs were malignant,1 of them was potentially malignant,1 was not sure to be malignant or benign.CT studies of 11 of the 12 tumors showed as exogenous mass of 3-20 cm,only 1 with less than 5 cm and 8 of them with over 5 cm.in the max diameter the tumors were cystic-solid with inhomogenous attenuation. The solid potion of tumors enhanced moderately to markedly after the contrast media administered.Ulcer was seen in the tumors of 2 cases, and the diameter of both of them were over 12 cm.Punctate calcification was seen in 1 GIST.Conclusion CT findings of GIST were specific to a certainty.CT study is helpful for locating the tumor and observation of the relationship of the tumor and surrounding structures.

Objective To report the clinical effects of repairing skin defects in hand by reversed neu- ro-veno-fasciocutaneous flaps based on the superficial branches of radial nerve. Methods Eleven cases with soft tissue defects around the wrist and the dorsum of the hand were treated with superficial branches of radial nerve-cephalic vein neuro-veno-fasciocutaneous flaps. Results The flaps totally survived in the 9 cases, the others were small distal necrosis.Follow-up survey in the(6-48)months after the oporation showed the appear- ante and function were satisfactory. Conclusion Superficial branches of radial nerve neurofasciocutaneous flap is well supplied with blood and easy to perform. It is the ideal flap to repair the skin defects of the first finger web, radial palm and dorsum of hand.

Objective To investigate the effects of p-cresol on human umbilical vein endothelial cells. Methods The effects of p-cresol on endothelial cell growth, cell cycle, cell morphological change and p21 protein were detected by the CCK-8 assay, flow cytometry assay, inverted microscope and Western blotting. Results P-cresol could inhibit the growth of human umbilical vein endothelial cells in dose-and time-dependent manners (all P < 0.05).The human umbilical vein endothelial cells treated with p-cresol became elongated processes, cloudy cytoplasm, and irregular shapes. The p-cresol stopped human umbilical vein endothelial cells at cell cycle G1 and had no effect on cell apoptosis. The p-cresol could increase protein expression of p21 in a dose dependent manner (P < 0.05).Conclusion P-cresol can increase protein expression of p21,induce cell cycle arrest at G1 stage and inhibit the proliferation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells.

Objective To investigate the synergistic effects of 9-cis-retinoic acid(9-cis-RA) and 8-cl-cAMP on growth inhibition and apoptosis induction in H460 and H292 cell lines of non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC). Methods Experimental groups included 9-cis-RA groups(1,5,10 and 20 ?mol/L),8-cl-cAMP groups(5,10,20 and 50 ?mol/L),9-cis-RA(5 and 10 ?mol/L) combined with 8-cl-cAMP(10 ?mol/L) groups and blank control group. The cell growth inhibition rates were detected by trypan blue staining, and the apoptosis of H460 and H292 cells were observed by Hoechst33258 fluorescence microscope,DNA gel electrophoresis and flow cytometer(FCM). Results 9-cis-RA inhibited the growth of H460 cells in a time-and dose-dependent manner, and induced the apoptosis of H460 cells(P

Objective To study the relationship between renal morphology and renal function, and to assess the value of CT as a criterion to grade renal function. Methods Enhancement CT were performed in 89 patients with no local renal disease whose split renal glomerular filtration rates(GFR)were measured by renal dynamic imaging with ~(99)Tc~m-DTPA.The 178 kidneys were divided into normal renal function, mild and severe renal impairment groups according to renal function.Differences between three groups respect to the mean thickness of renal cortex and parenchyma were assessed by ANOVA.Using Pearson's correlation test, the correlation between the renal cortex, parenchyma thicknesses and renal GFR were examined. The value of CT in predicting renal function was assessed by using ROC analysis. Results The renal cortex thicknesses of normal renal function, mild and severe renal impairment groups were(5.9?1.1),(4.6? 1.1),and(3.3?1.0)mm respectively, and the renal parenchyma thicknesses were(26.3?4.2), (21.3?4.6),(16.2?4.6)mm.There were significant differences of renal cortex, parenchyma thicknesses between 3 groups(cortex F=54.78,P

Objective:To analyze the related risk factors for esophageal variceal bleeding(EVB)in patients with hepatocirrhosis and portal hypertension,so as to provide clinical evidences for establishing preventive measures for EVB. Methods:Using"*esophag*","varice*","bleeding","hemorrhage",and"risk factor*"as the key words,we searched the clinical studies(1986-2006)about the risk factors of EVB in hepatocirrhosis patients in PubMed,Medline,Chinese Biomedical Database,Elsevier Database,OVID Database, etc.for Meta-analysis.The odds ratio(OR)of each risk factor was estimated and the 95% confidence interval[95% CI]was calculated. Results:Totally 19 papers met our criteria and were included in this Meta-analysis.The 19 papers involved 995 EVB patients and 1854 controls.Meta-analysis revealed that a hepatic function of Child C,decreased prothrombin activity, hypoalbuminemia, severe esophageal varices, positive red-color sign, extended portal vein width and splenic vein width, thrombopenia, leucopenia and anemia were the risk factors of EVB;a hepatic function of Child A and mild esophageal varices were the protective factors of EVB.The gender, age, hepatic function of Child B,ascites, hepatic encephalopathy, hyperbilirubinemia and midrange esophageal varices were not significantly associated with EVB. Conclusion:Improvement of poor hepatic function, blood coagulation status, hypoalbuminemia and treatment & prevention of severe esophageal varices(by endoscopic variceal ligation, devascularization and shunt)can help to reduce the incidence of EVB.
