BACKGROUND:It remains controversial about the clinical outcomes of bone fil ing mesh containers (BFMCs) and percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) in pain relief, kyphosis correction, vertebral height restoration and reduction of cement leakage. OBJECTIVE:To compare the clinical outcomes of BFMCs and PKP for osteoporotic vertebral compressive fracture. METHODS:A total of 90 patients with osteoporotic vertebral compressive fracture were equivalently randomized into two groups, fol owed by treated with BFMCs or PKP, respectively. During a more than 3-month fol ow-up, pain relief, kyphotic angle, the vertebral height and cement leakage were observed in the two groups to assess the therapeutic effects. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Pain in al patients was relieved at 24 hours after operation. There was no significant difference in pain relief between two groups (P>0.05). PKP was more effective to restore the vertebral height (P<0.05), while BMCFs significantly reduced the leakage rate of bone cement (P<0.05). These results suggest that BFMCs and PKP have their own advantages in the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compressive fracture, but both exert analgesic effects.

In this study the treatment effect of combined implantation of autologous skin on pig dermis in injured rats was observed. Twenty-one Wistar rats were used, and the wounds were formed by excising a piece of full thickness skin on the back. After the pig dermis was implanted, the autologous skin was grafted on the dermis at 0.7 and 10 days. In the group with perforated pig dermis, the autograft skin was implanted on the day when the pig dermis was implanted. The healing effect was evaluated by measuring wound area, and by observing the growth of the autograft skin. Two weeks after the autograft skin was implanted, the skin securely adhered to the dermis, and the edge of autograft skin expanded clearly. The wound of the autograft skin implanted in the perforation of the dermis healed completely after 3 weeks, but the other 3 groups had remnant small wound. The autograft skin merged with the dermis and its surrounding tissue, but a clear dividing line still existed between autograft skin and dermis after implantation. The area of the implanted dermis and autograft skin varied from 51.8% to 65.9% compared to its original size. The results suggested that the time and the way of autologous skin grafting on xenogenous dermis may influence wound contraction and healing time.

Chinese Journal of Medical Genetics 2003;20(1):39-42
OBJECTIVETo study the distribution of coagulation factor V(FV), VII(FVII) gene polymorphisms in Chinese Han population and the association of the polymorphisms with coronary heart disease(CHD).
METHODSGenotypes of FV FVII were typed in 234 CHD patients and 210 controls by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism. Selected coronary angiography was performed in 234 CHD patients.
RESULTSFVII allelic frequencies of R,Q and H7,H6 were 94.6%, 5.6%, 70.3%, 29.7% and 91.9%, 8.1%, 60.9%, 39.1% in CHD group and control group respectively. Genotype distribution was in accordance with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. There was no significant difference in frequencies of allele and genotype in R353Q or HVR4 polymorphisms between CHD group and control group. The distribution of allele and genotype in R353Q was of significant difference between non-myocardial infarction subgroup and myocardial infarction subgroup (chi2 = 4.711, P<0.05, OR=0.37,95% CI: 0.15-0.94). However, HVR4 polymorphism was not found to be of significant difference within two group (chi2 = 0.142, P>0.05). There was no FV Leiden mutation in all the CHD patients and normal controls.
CONCLUSIONThe Q allele of the R353Q polymorphism of the FVII gene may be a protective factor against myocardial infarction.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of long-term administration of fluvastatin on improvement of ventricular remodeling of rats after myocardial infarction and its mechanism.
METHODSSprague-Dawley rats were subjected to ligation in anterior descending branch of coronary artery and treated with fluvastatin (20 mg.kg(-1) d(-1)) or distilled water for 8 weeks. Doppler echocardiography, hemodynamic study and cardiac histomorphometry were used to estimate the ventricular remodeling and cardiac function. Laser scanning confocal microscope was used to definite the distribution of superoxide anion (O(2)(*-)) and nitrogen monoxide. RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry were used to detect the expression of NOS2 and p22phox in mRNA and protein level. The level of lipid peroxidation, glutathione peroxidase, nitrogen monoxide and total cholesterol were detected too.
RESULTSAdministration of fluvastatin ameliorated left ventricular remodeling without affecting the infarct size [(40 +/- 6 vs 42 +/-5)%, P>0.05]. The level of left ventricular end-diastolic pressure [(18.24 +/-6.58 vs 10.74 +/-4.71) mmHg, P<0.05], right ventricular ameliorated relative weight [(0.92 +/-0.19 vs 0.71 +/-0.13) g/kg, P<0.05], the thickness of left ventricular posterior wall [(3.04 +/-0.28 vs 2.60 +/-0.36) mm, P<0.05] decreased after fluvastatin treatment. The left ventricular ejection fraction was not influenced, the relative lung weight and the left atrium diameter reduced [(5.79 +/-2.92 vs 3.69 +/-0.68) g/kg, (0.55 +/-0.12 vs 0.45 +/-0.04) mm, P<0.05]; the expressions of LPO in the plasma and myocardium [(8.64 +/-0.59 vs 7.71 +/-0.66) U/dl, P<0.05; (3.12 +/-0.38 vs 1.93 +/-0.40) ng/microg.pro, P<0.01] were reduced, and the overexpressed NO was inhibited [(436.87 +/-47.22 vs 313.78 +/-34.35) mg/dl, P<0.01], but the expression of GPx increased [(66.13 +/-8.31 vs 79.78 +/-2.38) mg/dl, P<0.01]. The expression of O(2)(*-) and the activity of NADPH oxidase subunit p22phox increased; NOS2 and its products NO were over-expressed too.
CONCLUSIONVentricular remodeling and hemodynamics are improved profoundly in MI rats treated with fluvastatin. The effect of antioxidative stress of fluvastatin might be involved in the mechanism.

Objective To enhance the diagnosis of cerebral infarction of the hematopathy patient by analyzing its causes and MRI manifestations. Methods Totally 36 hematopathy patients with cerebral infarction from April 2010 to November 2015 had their data discussed retrospectively on involved vessel, anatomic distribution and MRI manifestations. Results Of the 36 patients,12 ones had only an artery involved in and 24 ones had multi arteries affected,31 ones had multi cerebral infarction foci and 5 ones had single focus. The foci had high or slighdy high signals in T2WI and very high signals in DWI,and there were no enhancement or only gyrus-like enhancement around the foci found by enhanced scan.Conchusion MRI gains advantages over CT when used to diagnose and find the hematopaty patient with cerebral infarction, when it has to be differentiated with cerebral early infection and parenchymal infiltration. It's suggested that the hematopathy patient has to undergo MRI examination in case central nervous system symptoms especially cerebral infarction occur.

Journal of Zhejiang University. Medical sciences 2006;35(3):287-291
OBJECTIVETo explore the polymorphism angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) in Han populations and its relevance to the severity of coronary atherosclerosis.
METHODSThe ACE genotype distribution was detected in 169 patients [aged (62.0 +/-9.9) years] with coronary artery disease (CAD) confirmed with angiography and in 168 normal controls [aged (61.0 +/-7.7) years]. The severity of coronary lesions in the patients was assessed by the number of major coronary arteries with more than 50% luminal obstructions and by the Gensini coronary score. Associations of the severity of coronary artery lesions with the ACE I/D polymorphism in the patients were analyzed.
RESULTThe frequencies of the ACE genotype in the CAD patients were 0.296 for DD, 0.391 for ID, and 0.314 for II genotypes, while in the normal controls the genotype distribution was in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (DD, 0.161; ID, 0.512; II, 0.327); a significantly excess of the DD genotype in CAD patients was found (P<0.01). No associations were observed between the ACE polymorphism and the number of significantly stenosed coronary arteries.
CONCLUSIONThe ACE gene polymorphism is a significant predictor for CAD in the Han population but is not a marker for the severity of coronary atherosclerosis.
