Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1997;38(5):762-768
It is important to detect binocular suppression of pediatric strabismic patients, especially in accommodative esotropes and intermittent exotropes. However, it may take a long time and false results may be obtained in young children. In order to examine binocular suppression, we selected 103 accommodative esotropes with binocular suppression. Vectograph test, Worth 4 dot test, and 4 prism base-out test were performed at distance, and Worth 4 dot test, TNO test, and Bagolini test at near. Titmus fly test and Randot stereotest were administerd to know the relationship between stereoacuity and suppression. In detecting binocular suppression, the true rate of vectogram was 95%, which was the highest result of all tests and 4 prism base-out test was the next with 88% of the true rate. The stereoacuity was increased in proportional to the absence of suppression. The vectographic porject test was the easiest and the most accurate test to identify normal fusion or binocular suppression at distance in young strabismic children. The accuracy will be increased in the combination with 4 prism base-out test. Therefore the vectograph also can be used in the screening of small amount of deviation, monocular amblyopia and low vision in kindergarten and elementary school.

Healthcare Informatics Research 2021;27(1):3-10
Objectives:
The objective of this study was to introduce the Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine Clinical Terms (SNOMED CT), to describe use cases of SNOMED CT with the barriers and facilitators, and finally, to propose strategies for adopting and implementing SNOMED CT in Korea as a member of SNOMED International.
Methods:
We reviewed a collection of SNOMED CT documents, such as introductory materials, practical guides, technical specifications, and reference materials provided by SNOMED International and the literature on SNOMED CT published by researchers to identify use cases of SNOMED CT with barriers and facilitators. We also surveyed the attendees of SNOMED CT education and training series offered by the Korea Human Resource Development Institute for Health and Welfare to identify perceived barriers to adopting SNOMED CT in Korea.
Results:
We identified the barriers and facilitators to adopt SNOMED CT experienced by international terminology experts and prospective Korean users. They were related to governance and infrastructure, support services for use, education and training programs, use cases, and vendor capability to implement SNOMED CT. Based on these findings, we identified strategies for adopting and implementing SNOMED CT in Korea. They included the establishment of SNOMED CT management infrastructure, the development of SNOMED CT education and training programs for various user groups, the provision of support services for SNOMED CT use, and the development of SNOMED CT use cases.
Conclusions
These strategies for the adoption and implementation of SNOMED CT need to be executed step by step.

Pseudomyxoma peritonei is a poorly understood condition characterized by mucinous ascites and multifocal peritoneal mucinous tumors. Pseudomyxoma peritonei is most commonly associated with mucinous tumors of the ovary and appendix. When two lesions are morphologically similar, it is difficult to determine whether one reflects a metastasis or whether the tumors are independent. Many studies concluded that most cases in which both the appendix and ovary were involved were primary appendiceal tumor with secondary involvement of the ovary, but we have experienced one case of pseudomyxoma peritonei originated from independent primary borderline mucinous tumors of the ovary and appendix. So we report this case with the brief review of literatures

Journal of the Korean Pediatric Society 2000;43(5):605-610
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine the utility of serum prealbumin as a biochemical marker for nutritional adequacy in neonates. METHODS: From March 1998 to May 1999, 71 fullterm (54 AGA, 9 LGA, 8 SGA) and 46 preterm neonates were enrolled. The correlations among prealbumin, albumin, birth weight and gestational age were obtained. Serum concentrations of albumin and prealbumin according to calory and protein intake were also serially measured in 30 fullterm and 29 preterm neonates on days 0, 3 and 7 of life. RESULTS: Serum prealbumin concentrations at birth were 10.2+/-2.6mg/dL in fullterm AGA, 12.1+/-3.3mg/dL in fullterm LGA, 8.3+/-1.2mg/dL in fullterm SGA and 8.8+/-2.4mg/dL in preterm neonates. Serum prealbumin concentration was significantly correlated with birth weight, gestational age and serum albumin level (P<0.01). In the neonates, prealbumin concentrations on day 3 of life were significantly lower than initial concentrations, and then they rised on the day 7 of life (P< 0.05). Serial serum prealbumin level was significantly correlated with body weight, calory intake and protein intake (P<0.01). When caloric and protein intakes were higher than 100kcal/kg/d and 2g/kg/d, respectively, there were significant differences in the changes of prealbumin concentrations on days 0, 3, and 7 of life, compared with those in neonates with lower intake. CONCLUSION: Serum prealbumin concentration could be used in the early recognition of changes in nutritional state in neonates.

Korean Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine 1997;9(1):40-48
The effects of NMDA-receptor antagonist (MK-801) were assessed for the oxygen free radical mediated brain (hippocampus) injury with eighty rats which were exposed to carbon monoxide (CO) followed by hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) treatment. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and malondialdehyde (MDA) were used as parameters of the oxygen free radical reaction. Experimental groups consisted of (1) control group (=breathing with air), (2) CO group (=exposed to CO after air breath), (3) CO-air group(exposed to CO after air breath followed by air breath), and (4) CO-HBO group (=exposed to CO after air breath followed by 3 ATA HBO). Each group was divided two subgroup according to the pretreatment (normal saline or MK-801). CO, CO-air and HBO groups increased in SOD activity as compared with control group. And CO-air and HBO groups increased in MDA as compared with control and CO group. Pretreatment of MK-801 decreased SOD activities significantly (p-value<.05) , but MDA amount not significantly (p-value=.107). These results suggest a useful protective effect of NMDA-receptor antagonist (MK-801) in CO induced hippocampal injury mediated by oxygen free radicals.

Supernumerary tooth, named mesodens, occur between the maxillary central incisors are generally found in pairs, although it is sometimes found singly. An inverted mesiodens may move toward the nasal cavity and erupt in the floor of the nose. Approximately 90% of all supernumerary tooth usually appear in the area of the maxilla, where they disrupt the position and eruption of normal teeth. A supernumerary tooth may closely resemble the teeth of the group to which it belongs, i.e., molars, premolars or anterior teeth.

Journal of Dental Hygiene Science 2021;21(3):158-167
Background:
To identify work–family balance and level of happiness among married women dental hygienists in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The goal of this study is to use the outcome as basic data to determine the compatibility of dental hygienists with work and family, systems, and improvement of happiness levels.
Methods:
From July 3 to August 10, 2020, 250 dental hygienists in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province were targeted. The questionnaire comprised 65 questions, including general characteristics (perception of work–family balance, perception of work–family balance system, job satisfaction, parenting type, happiness level) whether or not they were implemented. The results were obtained through a self-control questionnaire.
Results:
The perception of work–family balance was significantly different in job rank and average income, while that of the work– family balance system had significant differences in workplace type, total work experience, current job work experience, childcare system status, and parental leave period. Happiness level and job satisfaction were significantly different in job rank, average income, and childcare system status. Additionally, the perception of work–family balance and that of the work–family balance system showed a positive correlation with job satisfaction and happiness level. Finally, the perception of married women dental hygienists toward work–family compatibility was determined, where the higher the satisfaction with the job, the higher the level of happiness.
Conclusion
To improve the work–family balance and job satisfaction of dental hygienists and their levels of happiness, changes in social perception and improvement of the working environment such as proper staffing, flexible work systems, and incentive systems should be considered.
