Objective: To investigate the association between the left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) and blood pressure load (BPL) and circadian rhythm in hypertensive patients. Objective To determine the prevalence of renal artery stenosis (RAS) and the efficacy of percutaneous transluminal renal angioplasty (PTRA) and stenting in patients with documented coronary artery disease.Methods Selective renal artery angiography or abdominal digital subtraction angiography was performed immediately after coronary angiography to detect and quantify RAS in 200 consecutive patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease. Eight severe stenotic renal arteries in 7 patients were treated with PTRA and stenting. All the lesions are considered to be atherosclerotic. Results RAS (defined as ≥50% diameter stenosis) was detected in 21 of 200 patients (10.5%) and 19 of 99 patients with coronary artery disease (19.2%) who had at least one coronary artery of ≥50% diameter stenosis. Procedure success rate was 100% in the 7 patients received PTRA and stenting. Blood pressure control improved in 74.1% patients with hypertension. Angiographic follow up was done in 3 patients in 3 to 9 months and no restenosis was found in the vessels.Conclusions It is necessary to routinely perform RAS for the patients with coronary artery discase undergoing coronary angiography to identify RAS, especially in those associated with hypertension, so as to diagnose and treat RAS in early stage. PTRA and stenting carries high success rate and appears to be an effective and safe treatment for RAS.

OBJECTIVETo explore therapeutic effects of Modified pinning combined with external tension band for the treatment of Gartland type III humeral supracondylar fractures in children.

METHODSFrom February 2009 to November 2010, 79 children with Gartland type III humeral supracondylar fractures were treated by modified pinning (pinning cross internal and external condyle assisted with lateral condyle) combined with external tension band (crossing needle end and hooking around) through lateral approach of elbow. There were 47 males and 32 females, with an average age of 8.7 years (ranging from 2.5 to 14 years). The time from injury to operation was 2 h to 8 d. The elbow joint function and Carrying angle were observed before and after treatment. The Flynn criteria were used to evaluate therapeutic effects.

RESULTSSixty-one patients were followed up (18 patients' data were lost) for 6-30 months (mean 13.5 months). According to Flynn criteria, 53 patients got excellent result, 7 good and 1 fair.

CONCLUSIONTreatment of child Gartland type III humeral supracondylar fractures with modified pinning combined with external tension band through lateral approach of elbow is believed to be an ideal method, which has advantages of reliable fixation, rapid recovery and less complications.

Objective:To reveal the primary mechanism of changing permeability in DENV-2 infected pHDMECs. Methods:pHDMECs was incubated by DENV-2 on the concentration of 103 TCID50 ,and the penetrability of the cell was detected by Transwell at 4,8,12,24,48 h,respectively. Then,the partial sequence of DENV-2 NS1 was analyzed by Real time-PCR,and NS1 protein was detected by immunofluorescence and flow cytometer (FCM). The apoptosis rate of pHDMECs was assayed by FCM. Finally,IL-6 and IL-8 secreted by pHDMECs were analyzed by Real time-PCR and double antibody sandwich ELISA. Results:The relative expression of NS1 gene was elevated but NS1 protein was not detected;the permeability of DENV-2 infected pHDMECs had dramatically increased both at 24,48 h,but the apoptosis rate has little changed even been influenced by DENV-2 at 72 h. However,the relative expression of IL-6/IL-8 mRNA was boosted at 8,24 h[(2. 49±0. 50) and (6. 82±1. 69) fold,respectively,P<0. 05]. Objective To investigate the effects of dengue type 2 virus(DENV-2)on the apopto-sis and autophagy of primary human hepatic sinusoidal endothelial cells(HHSECs)and the expression of ICAM-1 and Beclin-1 at mRNA level and to analyze the possible pathogenic mechanism of DENV-2. Meth-ods Immunohistochemistry(IHC)and flow cytometry analysis(FCM)were performed to identify HHSECs by detecting factor Ⅷ and CD31. The DENV-2 strain was identified by using PCR and HindⅢ. The 50%tissue culture infective dose(TCID50 )of DENV-2 was calculated after infecting C6 / 36 cells with DENV-2. Dynamic changes of DENV-2 NS1 were measured by real-time PCR after infecting HHSECs with DENV-2. CCK-8 was used to dynamically detect the cytotoxicity of DENV-2 to HHSECs. The transcriptional levers of Beclin-1 and ICAM-1 in DENV-2-infected HHSECs were detected by real-time PCR. FCM was performed to analyze the apoptosis of HHSECs and the expression of LC3B and ICAM-1. Results The cells in the exper-imental group were stained brown by DAB and the positive expression rate of CD31 reached 87. 1% . The TICD50 of DENV-2 to C6 / 36 cells was 10-6. 845 / 0. 1 ml. Compared with the uninfected cells,partial se-quences of NS1 gene were expressed in DENV-2-infected HHSECs. DENV-2 suppressed the cell activities of HHSECs. Objective: To investigate the relationship between serum HGF levels and clinical severity of essential hypertension (EH). Methods: The serum HGF concentrations of 44 patients with EH were measur ed by ELISA. Results: The serum HGF levels in patients with EH w ere higher than that in control. Furthermore, the serum HGF levels of EH patient s with coronary atherosclerosis (CAS) were significantly higher than those of EH patients without CAS ［(920.8±250.0） pg/ml vs （747.9±132.1） pg/ml, P <0.01］ or control ［（643.8±98.2） pg/ml, P<0.01)］.The changes of HGF l evel were correlated with the clinical courses (r=0.63, P<0.01) and stag es (r=0.69, P<0.01) of hypertension. Conclusion: HGF may be considered as a new index for the severity of hypertension and an useful bio chemical parameter for estimating the development of atherosclerosis.

Objective: To investigate the effects of pravastatin o n atherosclerotic plaque and cardiovascular events. Methods: Fifty- seven patients with coronary artery disease (44 male and 13 female, 58.4±11.3 y ears) were randommized into pravastatin and control groups. The patients in prav astatin group were administered 10 mg of pravastatin from the night of coronary angiography day. After 7.3 months (mean) of follow-up, plasma lipid parameters and coronary angiograph were repeated. Results: (1) A favorable effect on plasma lipid parameters was found. After administration, total choles terol(TC), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and triglyceride(TG) red uced by 15.0% (P<0.01), 18.0% (P<0.01) and 6.0%, respectively. High den s ity lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C) increased by 10.6%. However, in control grou p, TC and LDL-C showed a tendency to reduce, but no significant difference was found between those of pre- and post-administration. (2)There was no significa nt difference in luminal diameter between pre- and post-administration in both groups. (3) Cardiovascular events in pravastatin group was significantly lower than those in control (P<0.05). (4) Pravastatin had no significant effect on HR, BP and left ventricular ejection fraction in both groups. Conclusio n: Pravastatin can stabilize coronary atherosclerostic plaque and reduce the incidence of cardiovascular events by improving plasma lipid parameters.

Objective: To investigate the electroencephalogram (EEG) characteristics, cerebral blood fl ow, glucose metabolism, and pathological characteristics in cats kindled by pentylenetetrazol (PTZ). Methods: Ten adult male cats received intramuscular injections of PTZ at a sub-convulsive dose of 25 mg/kg once daily. Cats were considered to be kindled when a class V or above seizure was observed. Subsequently, scalp EEG, 99mTc-ECD-single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), 18FDG-positron emission tomography (PET), and Cresyl violet staining were employed to evaluate brain activity, cerebral blood fl ow, glucose metabolism, and pathological characteristics representing epileptic foci during interictal stages. Results: The EEG data revealed bilateral dissymmetry paroxysmal activity in the form of δ and θ waves, as well as paroxysmal spikes and sharp waves instead of symmetric highamplitude rhythm of 8-12 Hz in cats kindled by PTZ compared to controls. In addition, low blood perfusion and low glucose metabolism unilaterally in the temporal lobe were observed in PTZ-kindled cats, in contrast to the bilateral symmetrical blood perfusion and high glucose metabolism observed in control cats. Pathological examinations showed a thickening of white matter in the ipsilateral temporal region and a thinning of gray matter in PTZ-kindled cats. Microscopically, we observed a structure disturbance of hippocampal CA3 area in PTZ-kindled cats. Conclusion: Epileptic foci of PTZ-kindled cats were localized to the unilateral temporal lobe, in a manner highly similar to the pathophysiology of human temporal lobe epilepsy.
