Objective To study the relationships among resilience, self-awareness, personality, stress level and mental health in the warship soldiers. Methods Resilience Scale for Adults ( RSA), Eysenck Personality Questionnaire ( EPQ), Self Acceptance Questionnaire( SAQ), General Self-Efficacy Scale( GSES), Wallance Self Concept Scale (WSCS), Psychological Stress Self-evaluation Test (PSET) and Symptom Checklist (SCL-90)were used to survey 1451 warship soldiers. Results ① 2.5％ of the warship soldiers reported obvious psychological stress. Mental health of warship soldiers was worse than the norm of China population, except for obsessivecompulsive and interpersonal sensitivity factor. While the scores of other factors were significantly higher than the norm of Chinese soldiers(P＜0.01). ②The total scores of SCL-90, psychological stress and resilience, internal/external had negative correlation with self-awareness, and positive correlation with neuroticism. Compared to the SCL-90-negative group,SCL-90-positive soldiers (SCL-90 total score ＞ 160) had higher scores of nervousness and PSET and lower scores of RSA, internal/external and self-awareness (P ＜ 0.01 ). ③Regression analysis showed that stress levels, emotional stability,self-awareness and resilience were able to predict 35.1％ of mental health in warship soldiers. Mental health, emotional stability, internal/external and resilience were able to predict 33.2％of individual's stress level. Conclusion To some extent, warship soldiers have psychological stress and mental health problems. Resilience, personality, self-awareness are important factors affecting psychological stress and mental health.

Objective To investigate the role of P2Y1 purinergic receptors in the spinal cord in a rat model of bone cancer pain. Methods Ninety female SD rats weighing 150-180 g were randomly divided into 5 groups (n = 18 each): Ⅰ group sham operation; Ⅱ group bone cancer pain; Ⅲ group sham operation + MRS2179 (a specific P2Y1 purinergic receptor antagonist); Ⅳ group BCP + vehicle (group NS); Ⅴ group BCP+ MRS2179.Bone cancer pain was induced by inoculating Walker 256 mammary gland carcinoma cells into medullary cavity of tibia. In group Ⅲ, Ⅳ, Ⅴ MRS2179 100 pmol/10 μl or NS 10 μl was injected intrathecally once a day for 3 days starting from the 7th day after operation. Mechanical pain threshold to von Frey stimuli was measured before and every other day after operation. The anirnals were sacrificed on the 9th day after operation. The L4-6 segment of the spinal cord was removed for detection of expression of P2Y1 receptor and phosphorylated extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase 1/2 (p-ERK1/2) in the spinal dorsal horn. Results P2Y1 receptors and p-ERK1/2 coexisted in spinal dorsal horn. Inoculation of cancer cells into tibia significantly decreased mechanical pain threshold at postoperative day 6-18 and increased the expression of P2Y1 receptor and p-ERK1/2 on the 9th day after operation in group Ⅱ and Ⅳ as compared with group Ⅰ . Intrathecal MRS 2179 significantly increased pain threshold and decreased expression of P2Y1 receptor and p-ERK1/2 in group Ⅴ compared with group Ⅱ and Ⅳ. Conclusion P2Y1 receptors in the spinal cord are involved in the development of bone cancer pain, which may be related to the activation of ERK1/2.

Objective To provide supportive evidences for the diagnosis of primary major depres-sive disorder (MDD) by analyzing the alterations of proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-1α, IL-6, IL-18, TNF-αas well as the total complement activity (CH50) in serum samples.Methods Hamilton Depression Rating Scale ( HAMD) was used to rate the severity of depression with the patients who were diagnosed as primary MDD.Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect the levels of IL-1α, IL-6, IL-18 and TNF-αand the CH50 in serum samples from 49 patients and 40 healthy subjects .Results Pa-tients with MDD showed significantly different levels of IL-6, IL-18, TNF-αand CH50 in serum samples as compared with that in healthy subjects (P<0.05).No significant difference with the level of IL-1αwas ob-served between the patients with MDD and healthy subjects (P>0.05).There were significant gender differ-ences with levels of IL-1αamong the patients with MDD (P<0.05).However, no significant differences with the levels of IL-6, IL-18, TNF-αand CH50 were found between male and female patients (P>0.05). Conclusion The changes of CH50 and certain proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-6, IL-18 and TNF-αmight be involved in the progression of MDD , suggesting the possibility of using them as indicators for the di-agnosis of MDD.

ObjectiveTo explore the feasibility,efficacy and cosmetic effect of three-dimensional conformal external beam partial breast irradiation (EB-PBI) after breast-conserving surgery for the selected Chinese early stage breast cancer patients.MethodsFrom June 2003 to December 2010,Forty-four early stage breast cancer patients underwent EB-PBI after breast-conserving surgery.Twenty patients had CT simulation scan in moderate deep inspiration breathing hold,and twenty-four patients in free breathing.EB-PBI was planned and delivered by three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT)with four noncoplanar beams.The prescribed dose was 3.40 Gy per fraction in thirty-nine patients and 3.85 Gy per fraction in five patients,twice per day at an interval of at least six hours,in five consecutive days.Results The number of patients with follow up time of 2,3 and 5 years were 39,31 and 16.Grade 1 acute radiationinduced dermatitis was observed in 17 patients (39％) at three months.Cosmesis was good or excellent in all cases at six months after radiotherapy and in 95％ cases at two years after radiotherapy.The 2-,3-and 5-year local control rates were 100％,99％ and 94％,respectively.The 2-,3-,and 5-year survival rates were all 100％ and no metastases occurred.Conclusions EB-PBI delivered by 3DCRT is feasible for selected Chinese early stage breast cancer patients after breast-conserving surgery.The cosmetic effect,local control rate and long-term survival rate are satisfactory,and acute radiation toxicity is very low.

OBJECTIVETo compare the advantages and disadvantages of the Foley catheter draining method versus the urethral stent plus gastric tube draining method for urine drainage following urethroplasty for hypospadias.

METHODSWe retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 361 cases of hypospadias treated by urethroplasty. After operation, 91 of the cases received urine drainage with the Foley catheter (group A) and 270 with a urethral stent plus a gastric tube (group B). We compared the incidence rates of bladder irritation, fistula, urethral stricture, and urethral diverticulum between the two groups of patients.

RESULTSNo statistically significant differences were found between groups A and B in the incidences of bladder irritation (9.89% vs 10.70%, P > 0.05) and urethral diverticulum (1.09% vs 2.22%, P > 0.05). The incidence rate of fistula was markedly higher in group A than in B (20.80% vs 13.30%, P < 0.05), and so was that of urethral stricture (10.90% vs 5.55%, P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONThe urethral stent plus gastric tube draining method is more effective than the Foley catheter draining method for urine drainage following urethroplasty.
