OBJECTIVE To clarify the long-term toxicity to the respiratory system in a rat model of acute lung injury (ALI) induced by a single low-dose of perfluoroisobutylene(PFIB) inhalation expo?sure, and observe the possible beneficial effect of early intervention via Qingkailing(QKL) injection. METHODS Totally 224 male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 4 groups:normal control group in which air exposure was followed by a saline 10 mL · kg-1(ip),QKL control group in which QKL 10 mL · kg-1 was ip given after air exposure,PFIB exposure group in which rats were exposed to PFIB 280 mg·m-3 for 5 min only, and QKL treatment group in which QKL 10 mL·kg-1 was given ip at 1 h after PFIB exposure. Lung functions of rats were measured at 24 h,3,6,12,24,36 and 48 weeks after exposure. The arterial blood gas, lung coefficient, protein content in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF),hydroxy?proline(HYP) content in lung tissue and plasma, and other indicators were detected or analyzed. RESULTS Within 24 h after PFIB exposure, the lung coefficient and protein content in BALF were increased significantly(P<0.01),whereas the PaO2(P<0.01) and SaO2(P<0.05) indices in arterial blood decreased significantly in PFIB group compared with normal control. The inhalation time , exhalation time, tidal volume(TV),expired volume(EV)and relaxed time were reduced significantly (P<0.01). However, all the above indicators returned to normal in 3 weeks, but TV,EV and peak expiratory flow were significantly lower than in normal group at 48 weeks(P<0.05). HYP contents in lung tissues, compared with normal control(P<0.05),were reduced significantly within 24 h after PFIB exposure, increased significantly in 6 weeks(P<0.05),then returned to normal in 12 weeks. HYP contents in plasma increased significantly compared with normal control(P<0.05) within 24 h after PFIB exposure but returned to normal in 3 weeks. The protein contents in BALF of QKL treatment group were significantly lower than those in PFIB group(P<0.01) within 24 h after PFIB exposure. From 24 h to 24 weeks after PFIB exposure, changes of pulmonary functions were similar to those in PFIB group. At 48 weeks,TV and EV in QKL treatment group were more significantly increased than those in PFIB group(P<0.05). CONCLUSION Rats with ALI induced by a single low dose of PFIB exposure undergo compensatory repair except for pulmonary capacity and pulmonary ventilation functions. Early treatment with QKL reduces protein content of BALF and alleviates pulmonary edema, and has some beneficial effect on lung function recovery later.

Objective:To study the difference in anti-hepatic fiborsis components between pre-and post-processed Trionyx Sinensis Carapace to guide the clinical application of Trionyx Sinensis Carapace. Methods:SDS-PAGE gel electrophoresis was used to compare the constituents in pre-and post-processed Trionyx Sinensis Carapace, and the inhibitory effect on the proliferation of HSC-T6 was deter-mined by MTT. Results:The processed Trionyx Sinensis Carapace had much more components than the crude Trionyx Sinensis Cara-pace,and the relative molecular mass in the first-level band decreased resulting in the generation of micromolecular polypeptides. Both pre-and post-processed Trionyx Sinensis Carapace had anti-hepatic fibrosis, while the vinegar-processed Trionyx Sinensis was more ef-fective. Conclusion:The difference in the active components in pre- and post-processed Trionyx Sinensis Carapace is obvious, which provides foundation for the clinical application and further researches.

Fluorescent image of human mucous can display a special color to demonstrate a cancer at its early stage. This will provide a novel method for early diagnose of the Pathological Changes. This research firstly extracted the color characteristics of the clinic images and then calculated all RGB components in different local areas. Finally, a stability analysis was performed. On the above basis we showed a conclusion that G/R can be used as a judge index for pathologic changes.

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2012;37(6):824-828
OBJECTIVETo establish a new method and validate its feasibilities for quality evaluation of Salvia miltiorrhiza.
METHODFour main effective components, dihydrotanshinone I, cryptotanshinone, tanshinone I and tanshinone II(A), were selected as analytes to evaluate the quality of S. miltiorrhiza. The relative correction factors (RCF) of tanshinone II(A) to the other three tanshinones were calculated. The method was evaluated by comparison of the quantitative results between external standard method and QAMS method.
RESULTNo significant differences were found in the quantitative results of four tanshinones by external standard method and QAMS method.
CONCLUSIONIt is a convenient and accurate method to determine multi-components when some authentic standard substances were unavailable. It can be used to control the quality of S. miltiorrhiza.

OBJECTIVE:To inv estigate the tonifying blood effects of different extract parts of Embelia parviflora on blood deficiency model mice ,and to explore its mechanism. METHOD S:Totally 70 mice were randomly divided into blank control group(water),model control group (water),positive control group (Danggui buxue oral liquid ,324 g/kg),petroleum ether , ethyl acetate ,n-butanol and water parts of E. parviflora groups(4.2,10.64,22.07,5.0 g/kg respectively ,calculated by the extractum),with 10 mice in each group. The mice were given medicine intragastrically ,once a day ,for consecutive 14 d. Except for blank control group ,other groups were given intraperitoneal injection of cyclophosphamide (80 mg/kg)on 12th and 13th day of starting administration to induce blood deficiency model. 30 min after last administration ,automatic hematology analyzer was used to detect the levels of peripheral hemogram indexes (WBC,RBC,HCT,PLT,HGB);the levels of IL- 2,IL-3,IL-6,EPO, G-CSF,M-CSF and VCAM- 1 were determined by ELISA ;thymus and spleen indexes were calculated. RESULTS :Compared with blank control group ,peripheral hemogram indexes levels ,serum levels of IL- 2,IL-3,IL-6,EPO,G-CSF,M-CSF,VCAM-1 and thymus index were decreased significantly ,while spleen index was increased significantly (P<0.01). Compared with model control group, there was no statistical significance in above indexes of mice in petroleum ether part of E. parviflora group(P>0.05). The levels of RBC ,HGB,PLT,the serum levels of IL- 2,IL-6,G-CSF,M-CSF,VCAM-1 and thymus index in ethyl acetate part of E. parviflora group were significantly increased (P<0.05 or P<0.01),while there was no statistical significance in other indexes (P>0.05). Except for no significant increase of WBC in water part of E. parviflora group, above peripheral hemogram indexes , serum indexes and thymus index of n-butanol group and water part of E. parviflora group were increased significantly while spleen index was decreased significantly (P<0.05 or P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS:The ethyl acetate ,n-butanol and water parts of E. parviflora can improve immunological function and the expression of hematopoietic factors in blood deficiency model mice ,and shows certain blood tonifying effects.
