OBJECTIVETo compare therapeutic effects of locking plates for the treatment of Neer 3-and 4-part proximal humerus fractures.
METHODSFrom January 2009 to June 2011, 64 patients with Neer 3-and 4-part proximal humerus fractures were treated with locked plate fixation. There were 39 patients in the 3-part group including 16 males and 23 females, with an average age of (55.12 +/- 12.52) years old; and 25 patients in the 4-part fractures group including 9 males and 16 females, with an average age of (57.92 +/- 13.14) years old. The American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons score (ASES), visual analogue scale (VAS) and complications were documented for analysis before and after treatment.
RESULTSAll the patients had incision healing at the first stage. All the patients were followed up, and the duration ranged from 12 to 30 months, with a mean of 16.5 months. Comparably better shoulder function recovery was achieved in the 3-part fractures group with regard to the ASES (76.14 +/- 14.10 in the 3-part fractures group vs. 65.93 +/- 11.82 in the 4-part fractures group, P < 0.05). Moreover,a statistical difference (P < 0.05) was observed regarding the VAS pain score (2.12 +/- 1.63 in the 3-part fractures group vs. 3.90 +/- 2.21 in the 4-part fractures group). For the complications rate,no statistical difference was noted between 3-part fractures group and 4-part fractures group (20.51% vs. 36.00%).
CONCLUSIONThe clinical outcomes of the 3-part proximal humerus fractures is better than the 4-part fractures proximal humerus fractures treated with locking plate. Complex proximal humeral fractures treated with locking plates can be achieved a satisfactory outcome when attention is paid to anatomic reduction, stable fixation, proper screws and plate placement, and reasonable functional exercise postoperative.

Microbiology 1992;0(03):-
A nest RT-PCR/restriction test has been developed in order to distinguish the lapinised vaccine strain from field isolates of classical swine fever virus. The restriction enzyme cut sites mapping of the major coding sequence of E2 gene lapinised vaccine strain and ShiMen strain of classical swine fever virus have been compared. Ten and sixteen unique restriction markers have been found in the lapinised vaccine strain and ShiMen strain. The restriction enzyme cut sites mapping of the twenty six unique restriction marker in the major coding sequence of E2 gene of 17 classical swine fever field isolates have been analyzed. Only 3 sites (HgaI、Hin8I及Hsp92I) are present in the lapinised vaccine strain sequence. Two pans of nested primers and a criteria of analysis have been designed for HgaI restriction marker site. The tests have been conducted first on the lapinised vaccine strain and ShiMen strain of classical swine fever virus resulting in predicted restrection patterns. Finally, the tests have been applied to 5 field isolates of different gene group analyzed by phylogenetic study. The result showed that only HCLV strain gene can be cut to 2 fragment by Hgal , and ShiMen strain and 5 field isolates cant be cut At the same time the sensitivity and specificity of nest RT-PCR have been tested. The sensitivity is 0. 2MLD. The specific fragment of BDV and BVDV were not obtained by the nest RT-PCR. These results showed that the development of the nest RT-PCR/restriction tests is very important for the control and perish of classical swine fever in china.
4.Effect of Tripterygium Polyglucoside on T-lymphocyte Subsets and Serum Interleukin-5 Level in Asthma Patients
Chinese journal of integrative medicine 2001;7(1):61-61
Objective: To investigate the therapeutic mechanism of Tripterygium polyglucoside (TⅡ) in treating asthma patients. Methods: Thirty asthma patients of middle or sever leoel were selected and randomly divided into three groups, Group A treated with TⅡ, Group B treated with prednisone and Group C, the control group. Their peripheral CD4+, CD8+ T-lymphocytes were counted by flow cytometer and serum interleukin-5 (IL-5) level determined by ELISA before and after 4 weeks′ treatment. Results: In Group A, after treatment, CD4+ T-lgmphocytes reduced from 0.462±0.035 to 0.426±0.039 (P<0.01), CD8+ increased from 0.201±0.045 to 0.253±0.043 (P<0.01), and serum IL-5 median concentration reduced from 65.3 ng/L to 10.9 ng/L (P<0.01). Similar results was revealed in Group B, while there was insignificant change of the parameters in Group C. The serum concentration of IL-5 was positively correlated with the peripheral CD4+ count (r=0.61, P<0.01). Conclusion: TⅡ is highly effective in treating asthma through regulating T-lymphocyte subset disorder and inhibiting production of IL-5.

Introduction:Neonatal tetanus is a major cause of neonatal mortality in many developing countries and remains a major public health problem. This study aimed to determine risk factors associated with neonatal tetanus in Wenzhou, China.Methodology:Medical records of neonatal tetanus cases from 17 hospitals over a 13-year period (2000–2012) were reviewed for potential risk factors. Controls were selected from neonates with diseases other than tetanus who were admitted to the same facility during the same period. The potential risk factors of the neonatal tetanus group were compared with the control group using univariate analysis and an unconditional logistic regression model. Results:A total of 246 neonates with tetanus and 257 controls were included in this study. Univariate analysis showed that having untrained birth attendants, home delivery, an unsterile method of delivery and being a migrant to Wenzhou were significantly different between the two groups (

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the benefits of biofeedback therapy in children with functional constipation caused by pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD).
METHODAnorectal manometry (PC Polygraf HR, Medtronic) was performed in children with functional constipation according to the diagnostic criteria of Rome III. Among them, 47 cases with PFD were trained with biofeedback therapy (PC Polygraf HR, Medtronic) according to the degree of cooperation. They received the treatment twice every week, and those in whom the therapy was performed at least three times were enrolled to evaluate the efficacy in this study.
RESULTA total of 27 cases (20 male and 7 female) in whom the procedure was performed at least three times were eligible for inclusion into this study. The mean age of them was (6.7 + or - 2.2) years (range 4 to 12 years), and the mean duration of symptoms was (3.0 + or - 2.3) years with a range of 6 months to 8 years. Among them, 16 cases received the biofeedback training more than 5 times, while 8 cases more than 7 times. The rectal maximum contraction pressure during defecation was increased significantly with the number of biofeedback training before treatment and after 3, 5, and 7 times of treatment was (36.2 + or - 10.4), (45.1 + or - 9.5), (47.6 + or - 9.1), and (47.8 + or - 8.8) mm Hg (1 mm Hg = 0.133 kPa) respectively (P < 0.01). The potential of electromyography of external anal sphincter decreased progressively, but had not reached significance. Follow-up continued for 3 to 12 months by telephone, the clinical response to biofeedback treatment was evaluated as excellent (complete resolution of constipation), good (improvement of constipation), partial or poor (no improvement of constipation). The response was excellent in 13 cases (48.1%), good in 8 (29.6%), partial in 3 (11.1%), and 2 (7.5%) cases had no improvement, and 1 case was lost to follow-up, and the rate of success was 88.9% (24/27).
CONCLUSIONBiofeedback therapy is a safe and effective treatment option for functional constipation due to PFD in children probably by increasing the rectal maximum contraction pressure during defecation.
