Objective To investigate the expressions of tyrosine kinase receptor (Trk)B and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) protein in human gastric careinoma and compare them with those in epithelial cells of normal mucous, in order to evaluate their clinicopathological significance. Method The expressions of TrkB and BDNF protein in tumor tissues, matched with para-tumor mueosal tissues from 64 cases with gastric carcinoma and normal mucous of 20 cases were observed immunohistochemically and related to some of the clinicopathological parameters. Results The positive rates of TrkB and BDNF protein in tumor tissues were 60.9% and 59.4% respectively, but there was negative in matched para-tumor mueosal tissues and normal mucosal tissues. TrkB and BDNF protein expressions were related to invasive depth,lymph node metastasis and TNM stage of cancer, but not to sex, age and degrees of cancerous differentiation.The positive rates of TrkB and BDNF protein in cases with serosal infiltration, lymph node metastasis and TNM stage Ⅲ - Ⅳ were significantly higher than those in cases without serosal infiltration, lymph node metas-tasis, and TNM stage Ⅰ - Ⅱ (P< 0.01 ). In group with metastasis the positive rates of TrkB and BDNF protein were lower in metastatic foci (76.5%, 26/34, 70.6%, 24134) than those in primary tumor (85.3%, 29134,82.4%, 28/34 ), but statistically there was no significant difference between them (P > 0.05 ). Conclusions The expressions of TrkB and BDNF protein are closely relatedto tumorigenesis and progression of gastric carcinoma. The increased expression of TrkB and BDNF may promote the occurrance of local invasion and metastasis of gastric carcinoma.

Enzymatic hydrolysis of nitrile was performed under mild conditions and afford high efficiency and selectivity,thus being highly potential for the synthesis of optically active carboxylic acids and their derivatives.The type of nitrile-hydrolyzing enzymes and hydrolysis reactions,reaction characteristics,factors influencing the hydrolysis and the prospect for its application to industrial production were reviewed in this paper.

Objective To evaluate systematically whether or not the treatment of herbs invigorating spleen and removing dampness,blood stasis and toxin with chemotherapy is better than chemotherapy alone for advanced colorectal cancer.Methods The randomized controlled trails (RCT) involving combined treatment of herbs with chemotherapy,published from January 2000 to October 2015,were searched in CBM,CNKI,Wanfang Data,VIP,PubMed,Embase databases.Stata 14.0 software was used to analyze the data.Results 19 RCT containing 941 patients were included in this reta-analysis.Compared with chemotherapy alone,the combined treatment of Chinese herbal medicine and chemotherapy was obviously better in 1-year survival rate (RR =1.28,95 ％ CI 1.14-1.45),2-year survival rate (RR =1.52,95 ％ CI 1.05-2.18),3-year survival rate (RR =2.76,95 ％ CI 1.56-4.88),objective response (RR =1.11,95 ％ CI 1.04-1.19),Karnofsky score (RR =1.46,95 ％ CI 1.27-1.68) and traditional chinese medicine (TCM) symptom score (RR =1.58,95 ％ CI 1.33-1.75).The adverse effect rate was statistically reduced in the combined treatment group:leukopenia (RR =0.59,95 ％ CI 0.40-0.8),nausea and vomiting (RR =0.68,95 ％ CI 0.59-0.79),diarrhea (RR =0.67,95 ％ CI 0.53-0.85),neurotoxicity (RR =0.79,95 ％ CI 0.65-0.96).Conclusion Compared with chemotherapy alone,the treatment of herbs invigorating spleen and removing dampness,blood stasis and toxin combined with chemotherapy for advanced colorectal cancer can significantly increase survival rate and objective response rate,improve the quality of life,and meanwhile decrease the adverse effect rate.

OBJECTIVETo explore the technique and clinical results of close reduction by manipulation and minimally invasive percutaneous osteosynthesis with intramedullary nail for the treatment of femur shaft fractures. methods: A retrospective study was conducted to analyze 96 patients with the femur shaft fractures who had been treated with close reduction by manipulation and minimally invasive percutaneous osteosynthesis with intramedullary nail. There were 67 males and 29 females. The average age of patients was 39 years old (ranging from 16 to 88). According to AO fracture classification for the femur shaft fractures,there were 29 cases of type A,46 type B,21 type C.

RESULTSAll the patients were followed up and the duration ranged from 12 to 24 months (averaged, 15 months). All the fractures showed union. The time required for the bony union ranged from 3 to 10 months (averaged,4 months). The clinical results were evaluated by Thorsen classification system. At the latest follow-up, 87 patients obtained excellent results, 7 good, 2 fair.

CONCLUSIONThis treatment method combines advantages of intramedullary nail with close manipulative reduction, so can get satisfactory clinical results for the treatment of femoral shaft fracture with minimal trauma.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of MTS1 gene beta promoter transcriptional activation in T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) cell lines and identify the fragment with transcriptional activation.

METHODSSeven pGL3 recombinant plasmids with the same 3'-end transcriptional start site but the different 5'sequences were constructed by gene recombinant technique and transfected into Jurkat cell line which is biallelic deletion of MTS1 gene by transient transfection. Luciferase report gene was detected to observe beta promoter transcriptional activation.

RESULTSSeven pGL3 recombinant plasmids containing different fragments of beta promoter were obtained, all of them showed transcriptional activation in Jurkat cell line. Among them, the 0.38 kb fragment cut by SacII-SacI is fundamental in transcription.

CONCLUSIONMTS1 gene beta promoter can be activated in Jurkat cell line.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the efficacy and adverse effects of irinotecan combined with cisplatin in the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

METHODSFifteen patients (10 males and 5 females) aged from 32 to 58 years (median age of 47 years) with KPS>70 and the diagnosis of advanced NSCLC by pathology or cytology were treated with cisplatin 80 mg/m(2) plus irinotecan 60 mg/m(2) by intravenous infusion on 1, 8, 15 days, and the treatment was repeated every 4 weeks. After treatment for at least 2 cycles, the therapeutic effects and adverse drug reactions were evaluated.

RESULTSOf all the cases, PR was achieved in 4 (26.7%), SD in 9 (60%), and PD in 2 (13.3%), with an overall response rate of 26.7%. The median survival time was 11 months and 1-year survival rate was 46.7% (7/15). The main toxicities were delayed diarrhea and granulocytopenia.

CONCLUSIONIrinotecan plus cisplatin is an effective and tolerable treatment for advanced NSCLC with low incidence of adverse effects.

According to published nucleotide sequences, ORF4 gene of barley yellow dwarf virus GAV (BYDV-GAV) was synthesized by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The BYDV-GAV ORF4 gene was expressed in baculovirus -insect cell expression system efficiently, and western bolt analysis confirmed its expression product. Confocal laser scanning microscopy showed that GFP: ORF4 fusion protein was associated with the nuclear envelope of insect cells. By expressing the N- and C-terminal regions of ORF4-encoding product (P4) in insect cells combined with structure prediction, it was found that the N-terminal region of P4 containing four a-helices is required for targeting P4 to the nuclear envelope. These results provide a base for biological function of ORF4 gene during systemic infection of BYDV-GAV in host plants further.

OBJECTIVETo explore the diagnostic value of pulse transit time (PTT) in children with sleep disordered breathing(SDB).

METHODSForty eight randomly selected snorers (2 - 13 years) with SDB were examined by PSG and PTT in the same time. Data obtained were analyzed by different technicians respectively. Statistics and analysis of the data were performed.

RESULTSApnea hypopnea index (AHI), obstructive apnea index (OAI), the lowest oxygen and micro-arousal index were obtained by PSG and PTT. The results was described as M [25 percentile; 75 percentile]: 4.9[1.3;10.1], 4.6[1.5;11.8]; 1.2[0.7;4.9], 1.3[0.6;5.0]; 0.93[0.85;0.95], 0.93[0.84;0.95]; 14.5[12.6;16.4], 26.0[17.4;30.6]. The difference of AHI, OAI, and the lowest oxygen were not significant (P > 0.05), while the PTT arousal index detection rate was higher than PSG (Z = -5.19, P < 0.01). There was no significant difference in the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) and determination of degree of patient's condition (P > 0.05). PTT could identify upper airway resistance syndrome in children without OASHS.

CONCLUSIONSBoth methods can be used to diagnose SDB. However, PTT is easy to use and suitable for the diagnosis of SDB in children, especially for UARS.

OBJECTIVETo analyze the similarities and differences of the clinical manifestations between the children with upper airway resistance syndrome (UARS) and obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS), and to explore the clinical features and characteristics of sleep respiratory parameters.

METHODSUsing the double-blind method, all children were diagnosed as UARS or OSAHS through the polysomnography test and the results of all children were analyzed by a sleep technician and an otolaryngologist. Another ENT doctor recorded their clinical and physical examination in detail.

RESULTSPolysomnography showed that the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) and the lowest oxygen in 253 children with OSAHS were 3.60[2.00;7.55] times/h and 0.90[0.85;0.91], and were 0.90[0.50;1.10] times/h and 0.95[0.92;0.96] in 102 children with UARS, the difference of the two groups by rank test was statistically significant. The proportion of UARS and OSAHS was more common during preschool period than during school-age period. The chief complaint in two groups was sleep snoring, and the main symptoms were sleep restless, attention deficit/hyperactivity and breath with mouth open. The incidence rate of above symptoms were as follows, 94.1%, 72.5%, 62.7% and 37.3% in children with UARS, 92.9%, 78.7%, 57.7% and 45.5% in children with OSAHS. The difference was not significant by chi-square test (P>0.05). Tonsil and adenoid hypertrophy were also observed in the two groups, the difference was not significant (chi2 = 0.27, P= 0.87). However, the children with OSAHS were more apt to have the sleep apnea than with UARS, the difference was statistically significant (chi2 = 34.07, P<0.001).

CONCLUSIONSThe clinical manifestations of two groups are similar, the difference between UARS and OSAHS can not be determined by the patient's clinical performance. Sleep apnea can be more easily observed in children with OSAHS than that in UARS, the final diagnosis is based on polysomnography.
