1.Contamination and dietary exposure assessment of zearalenone in cereals and their products
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2024;36(11):958-960
Abstract
Zearalenone (ZEN), a nonsteroidal mycotoxin produced by fusarium with estrogen-like effects, and it contaminates various types of cereals and their products to varying degrees. Wheat and rice are the staple foods of Chinese residents, and understanding the contamination status and dietary exposure risk of ZEN in grains and their products is of great significance for maintaining food safety and promoting population health. This article reviewed the publications between 2012 and 2023 on ZEN contamination and dietary exposure assessment in cereals and their products, and found that the dietary exposure risk of ZEN contamination in cereals and their products was low. Continued efforts are needed to strengthen food safety monitoring and regulatory oversight to ensure food safety.

Objective: To investigate the antitumor activities and apoptosis mechanisms of 3,7-dinitrodibenzobromonium salt (cBr) on human chronic myelogenous leukemia K562 cell line in vitro. Methods: The antitumor activities of cbr were tested by Trypanblau exclusion test, MTF coloretric assay and clonal forming test, and the mechanisms were studied by morphological analysis (microscopy, fluoreseencemicroscopy, electron microscopy) and flow cytometry analysis. Resuits: cBr could inhibit of the proliferation K562 cells and kill them significantly. The effects varied with different time and doses, and IC50 of cell colony forming rate was 0. 497 mmoL/L. Apoptosis rate tested by flow cytometry was 70.34%,and apoptotic characteristics could be found by microscopy and electron microscopy. Conclusion: cBr could inhibit K562 cell proliferation greatly, and could induce K562 cells into apoptosis.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the diagnosis and treatment of incidental prostate cancer (IPC) following transurethral plasma kinetic vaporization prostatectomy (TUPVP).
METHODSPathological examinations were conducted on 134 benign prostate hyperplasia specimens by means of series microtomy after TUPVP.
RESULTSFifteen cases of IPC were detected from the total number of TUPVP specimens, with a pick-up rate of 11.2%. Dual testicle resection with endocrine therapy was performed in 4 cases of Stage A2 patients, and endocrine therapy alone was conducted in 9 cases of Stage A1 patients. Thirteen patients were followed up for 7 to 15 months and all lived without cancer (PSA 0.15 - 4.0 microg/L).
CONCLUSIONTUPVP and series microtomy may be helpful to the diagnosis of IPC. Patients at Stage A1 need mere endocrine therapy, while those at Stage A2 warrant dual testicle resection.

Objective To analyze the current literatures on perineum nursing with traditional Chinese medicine for preventing catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI).Methods The literatures were retrieved with free words and key words from the Chinese biomedical literature database (CBM), China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang database, VIP database (VIP) before November 2016. The retrieval results were evaluated by 2 reviewers independently. Data was extracted using modified JADAD scale. Results Nine literatures were included in the study, with low quality (0-3 points). No high quality literatures (4-7 points) were involved. Conclusions The studies on preventing CAUTI with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) are at the first step. High quality literatures are seldom. Methodology studies are required to provide evidences for preventing CAUTI, especially for high risk and special patients.

Metabolic regulation has been proven to play a critical role in T cell antitumor immunity. However, cholesterol metabolism as a key component of this regulation remains largely unexplored. Herein, we found that the low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR), which has been previously identified as a transporter for cholesterol, plays a pivotal role in regulating CD8
6.Correction to: Potentiating CD8+ T cell antitumor activity by inhibiting PCSK9 to promote LDLR-mediated TCR recycling and signaling.
