2.Comparative analysis on composition principles of traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions for osteoporosis and osteoarthritis.
China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2014;39(16):3172-3175
This paper collected the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) prescriptions of osteoporosis and osteoarthritis from CNKI to set up database and used TCM inheritance system to analyze the composing principles in prescriptions. We collected 103 and 106 prescriptions for osteoporosis and osteoarthritis respectively, then analyzed inherent principles between herbs in prescriptions by using the TCM inheritance system, and obtained the frequency of each herb, and drug combinations of two diseases' prescriptions. The result showed that the principles in TCM prescriptions of osteoporosis and osteoarthritis are similarities, buch as tonifying kidney and invigorating the circulation of blood, but differences of the specific drugs. That is to say, tonifying kidney is the main method of osteoporosis treatment, however, invigorating the circulation of blood is the main method of osteoarthritis treatment.

Journal of Environment and Health 1992;0(02):-
Objective To investigate the mechanism of repression of testosterone biosynthesis in rats exposed to dibutyl phthalate (DBP). Methods Immature male rats were randomly divided into 5 groups involving 4 experimental groups and one control group. Animals were administered orally either corn oil only (vehicle control) or DBP (0.25, 0.50, 1.00, 2.00 g/kg) for 30 days. After 30 days exposure, the half of animals were sacrificed with testis, epididymis and adrenal selected and weighed. The ratio of organ to body weight were calculated and histopathological examination were examined. Testosterone (T), luteinizing hormone (LH), 17?-estradiol (17?-E2) and corticosterone (CORT) were detected by radioimmunoassay. After 15 days, the rest of animals were sacrificed and above-mentioned indexes were measured. Results The ratio of testis and epididymis to body weight reduced significantly at doses of 0.50 g/kg DBP and above. The testicle atrophy was observed, germinal epithelium became thin and the amount of reproductive cells obviously decreased. All of those were not repaired in convalescence stage. In above 1.00 g/kg DBP groups, the level of T, LH and 17?-E2 decreased (P

Microbiology 1992;0(05):-
Recombinant plasmids pHY-PA, pBBR-PA were constructed in which genes pdc and adhB were placed under the control of tac promoter, respectively, and had successfully expressed in Escherichia coli. Then these recombinant plasmids were electroporated into Lactobacillus strains for ethanol production. Preliminary ethanol fermentation using these Lactobacillus strains and their recombinants was carried out using 42℃ as fermentation temperature. The results indicated that introducing pdc and adhB, ethanologenic pathway was successfully constructed in L.plantanum CICIM B0080. 0.4% (V/V) ethanol was detected at the end of fermentation with 6.7% glucose, and that is 67-fold as the wild-type B0080. Two-fold of ethanol production was detected in L.amylovorus B0112 (pHY-PA) and L.acidophilus B0068 (pBBR-PA). Introducing both pdc and adhB, and meanwhile knock-outing the lactate dehydrogrnase gene may better convert carbon flux to ethanologenic direction.

Objective To explore the value of temporary cardiac pacemaker therapy on children with Adam-Stoke syndrome(ASS).Methods Nine children with ASS was implanted the emporary cardiac pacemaker under X-ray or blinding inserted beside bed. Results Seven children was successfully implanted the temporary cardiac pacemaker within 1-2 d of ASS attack, and two children was successfully implanted at 10 d and 20 d after ASS attack, respectively. Five patients was cured, two children was died, and two children was implanted the permanent cardiac pacemaker. During pacing, two patients had the electrode shifted, and one patient had the cardiac murmur, and one patient had the local skin infected. Conclusion Temporary cardiac pacemaker can successfully treat children with ASS attack;the earlier the implantation, the better the prognosis.
7. Improvement in post-partum uterine involution in rats treated with Apios americana
Journal of Zhejiang University. Science. B 2019;20(7):576-587
Objective: Apios americana, a plant used as a staple ingredient of native American diets, has various properties, including anti-cancer, anti-hyperglycemic, hypotensive, and anti-inflammatory activity. In Japan, Apios is used as a post-natal medication. After parturition, women undergo a period of recovery as they return to pre-pregnancy conditions. However, few health products that aid post-partum recovery are on the market. We explored whether Apios can accelerate the post-partum recovery process, in particular the involution of the uterus. Methods: Female rats kept in individual cages were mated with two male rats, with the exception of the control group (female rats without mating, on basal diet; n=6). After delivery, rats were divided into five groups based on their diet: basal diet (model; n=6); basal diet+oral intake at 5.4 g/kg of Chanfukang granules (a Chinese patent medicine preparation for post-partum lochia) (positive; n=6); basal diet containing 10% Apios powder (low; n=6); basal diet containing 20% Apios powder (medium; n=6); basal diet containing 40% Apios powder (high; n=6). Five days later, uteri and spleens were weighed. Uterus and spleen indices for each rat were calculated by dividing visceral weight by the total weight. Hormone and cytokine concentrations were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Histological analysis of uteri was completed using hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining. Expression of matrix metalloproteinases and inhibitors in uteri was measured by western blotting. Results: Our results showed that Apios treatment reduced the post-partum uterus index and regulated the hormone concentrations. Moreover, we found that the process of uterine involution was accelerated, based on morphological changes in the uterus. In addition, our results indicated that Apios alleviated the inflammatory response induced by the involution process. Transforming growth factor ß was also found to be regulated by Apios. There were significant downregulation of matrix metalloproteinases and upregulation of their inhibitors by Apios, which suggested that Apios increased the rate of the collagen clearance process. Conclusions: These results, based on experimental observations at the molecular and protein levels, verified our hypothesis that Apios can improve uterine involution, and demonstrated the potential application of Apios in post-partum care.
