Objective To study the relationship between the MRI features and pathological types of intracranial meningiomas. Methods MRI findings of intracranial meningiomas in 63 cases proved by operation and pathology were analyzed retrospectively.Results Of 63 cases,62 cases were singular and one case was multiple lesions. The lesions were located in frontal,parietal and occipital regions nearby the convexity of the brain in 30 cases,in sellar region in 10,at sphenoidal crest in 8 , at olfactory sulcus in 5 and at other regions in 10. Isointense or slightly hypointense signal on T 1WI was found in 87.27% cases of meningiomas . On T 2WI, tumors had isointense or slightly hyperintense signal in 69.84%, obviously hyperintense signal in 19.05%,heterogenous texture signal in 7.94% and slightly low intense signal in 3.17%. Pathological type was included meningiomas meningothelial(n=29), meningiomas fibrous(n=11) , meningiomas psammomatous(n=8),angioblastic meningiomas (n=5) and meningiomas angiomatous(n=10). Conclusion It is great value in diagnosis of meningiomas with MRI. Meningiomas angiomatous show effecting of blood-vessel flowed empty with MR imaging.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the potential risk factors and management of excessive epistaxis after endoscopic endonasal surgery (EES). METHOD: Six hundred and forty-one patients who underwent EES in our hospital from December 2011 to December 2012 were reviewed retrospectively. Factors which potentially affect the incidence of excessive epistaxis after EES were analyzed with univariate and multivariate logistic regression model. RESULT: The incidence rate of excessive epistaxis after EES was 8.4% in our study. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that history of previous EES, along with other four factors, correlated significantly with the occurrence of excessive epistaxis after EES. CONCLUSIONS Previous EES, along with other three factors, may increase the chance of excessive epistaxis after EES, while pre-operative corticosteroid therapy may reduce the risk to some extent.

Objective To determine a suitable standard of hirsutism for Chinese polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS)patients living in Shandong region.Methods A total of 623 unbiased women from the general population in Jinan city,131 PCOS patients and 84 controls from outpatients in Shandong region were studied with questionnaires,physical and pelvic ultrasound examination,body hair on 11 sites were evaluated,and 9(lip,chin,arm,thigh,chest,upperbelly,lowerbelly,upperback,lowback)of them which were called hormone Ferriman-Gallwey(F-G)score and 2(forearm,leg)sites of indifferent hormone score were calculated according to the score system described by Ferriman and Gallwey.Results(1)Both body hair F-G score and indifferent hormone score distribution mode in the≤40 years old population were un-normal and both the 95th percentages of score were 2.(2)The hirsutism was significantly higher in PCOS patients[48.1%(63/131)]than in controls[4.8%(4/84)]by F-G score≥2(X~2=47.68,P

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the effect of milkvetch injection (MI) on immune function of children with tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) after radical operation.

METHODSForty-children with TOF were divided into two groups, the 20 in the control group treated with conventional treatment alone and the 20 in the treated group treated with conventional treatment plus 15 ml of MI every 12 hrs for 14 days. Changes of immunoglobulin, complements, lymphocyte phenotypes and cytokines were observed.

RESULTSIn the treated group, the abnormally increased levels of IgG, IgM, C3, C4, CD8+ and CD19+ began to lower at lst-2nd week after treatment, and basically restored to the levels of normal at 3rd-4th week; while the decreased levels of IgA, CD3+, CD4+, CD4+/CD8+ ratio, CD3+/HLA-DR+ and CD3+/CD16+ -CD56+ raised gradually from the 1st week and restored to normal range at 2nd-3rd week. The IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) levels in the plasma and supernatant, produced in vitro by peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) decreased gradually at 1st week and restored to the normal level at 3rd-4th weeks. The different value before and after treatment of the above-mentioned indexes in the treated group were superior to those in the control group (P<0.05 or P<0.01).

CONCLUSIONMI could significantly improve the immune function of children with TOF after radical operation.

16 and the distribution of severe trauma more than 2 anatomic parts.They were randomly divided into two groups:intensive insulin treatment group(n=31)and control group(n=31).Intensive insulin treatment group received insulin with insulin pump in order to maintain blood glucose levels at 4.0-6.1 mol/L,while the control group received routine insulin treatment in order to mmaintain blood glucose levels at 10.0- 11.0 mol/L.Plasma levels of TNF-?,IL-1,IL-6, CRP,APACHEⅡscores and cure rate were analyzed before and after the treatment.Data was expressed as mean?standard deviation.Two- tailed T test and ANOVA were used for comparison in SPSS 10.0,and changes were considered as statistically significant if P value was less than 0.05.Results After the intensive insulin treatment, patient's hemodynamic parameter apparently improved,APACHEⅡscores descended,and the levels of TNF-?, Ib-1,IL-6,CRP all declined,in comparison with control group,there were significant differences. Intensive insulin treatment might improve patient's general condition and decrease complications and mortality of severe multiple trauma.

Objective To find out the perception status of Kaschin-Beck disease(KBD)-related knowledge among residents in Aba KBD areas. Methods In 2009, hierarchical clustering random sampling method was used to select 13 villages as survey points in Aba KBD areas, general demographic characteristics, KBD prevalence and KBD-related knowledge of residents were investigated. Results Of the residents investigated, the understanding rate of KBD-related knowledge was 36.7% (7361/20 080), understanding rate among female [40.2% (4427/11012) ]was high than that of male[32.3%(2934/9084), x2 = 134.80, P ＜ 0.05];50-year group[42.5%(2789/6562] was higher than others;Tibetan [42.8% (6775/15829)] was higher than other nationals;residents in Semi-agricultural and semi-pastoral areas [47.2% (5777/12239)] was higher than people in other areas ;farmer [42.6% (4585/10762) ],people who lost labor ability [42.7% (1487/3482)] and the unemployed [42.8% (941/2199) ] was higher;married people[41.6%(6067/14584)] was higher;KBD patients[47.6%(4585/9632)] was higher[x2 = 92.41,148.04,578.56,116.35,36.96,371.29 respectively, all P ＜ 0.05]. Sixty three point nine persent (978/1530) acquired KBD knowledge through explaination by medical and health personnel. Conclusions The current situation of perception of KBD-related knowledge among residents in Aba KBD areas is not optimistic. Understanding rate among residents with different demographic characteristics is significantly different. Targeted health education strategies and measures should be developed among different population groups.

The aim of the research is to investigate the genetic characteristics of Legionella pneumophila serogroup1 (LP1)in Sichuan Province.The sequence-based typing (SBT) and multiple-locus VNTR analysis (MLVA) were used to describe the genetic polymorphism of 42 strains which were isolated from 1989-2016 in Sichuan Province,China.According to the reference,PCR was used to detect the 8-VNTR loci and 7 housekeeping genes respectively.The VNTR results were determined by using capillary electrophoresis,and the SBT results were sequenced and compared with the database of EWGLI.Results showed that totally 42 stains were divided into 8 MLVA types with the advantage types were M08 (47.6 ％) and M07 (23.8 ％).Twelve ST types were obtained with 3 main clonal complex and 2 singleton,including 2 novel ST types,among those,ST1 was the predominant type,accounting for 52.3 ％,following by ST630 (14.2 ％).In conclusion,our results demonstrated MLVA and SBT were both applied to the research for molecular epidemiological investigation of LP1 and showed the high genetic polymorphism and the regional specificity.The results also suggest that the isolates are a potential threat to the public,effective control and prevention strategies are urgently needed.

PURPOSETo investigate the potential correlation between two different types of hip fractures and serum calcium levels.

METHODSWe consecutively studied 101 cases of femoral neck fracture and 95 cases of femoral inter- trochanteric fracture between January 2011 and December 2013. Fasting blood samples were taken and serum calcium measurements were performed respectively in three periods: the time of admission, postoperation, and discharge. Creatinine, alkaline phosphatase and albumin were also analyzed.

RESULTSConsidering the levels of serum calcium between two groups at the time of admission, post- operation and discharge, there was significant difference at admission and discharge (p <0.05), while there was no significant difference at the time of postoperation (p > 0.05). The magnitude of serum calcium fluctuation was larger in femoral neck group than femoral intertrochanteric group. Concerning alkaline phosphatase and albumin levels at admission, there was no significant difference between two groups (p > 0.05).

CONCLUSIONThe capability of reservation and restoration of serum calcium in patients with femoral neck fracture is better than that in patients with femoral intertrochanteric fracture. A low serum calcium level may be susceptible to femoral intertrochanteric fracture.

The biological characters of Sindbis virus strain of Yunnan(YN87448 strain) were studied by the test of the filtration, acid-resistant, ether-resistant, CPE, susceptibility of animal, HA, plague, determination of virus titres, and the cross-HI, cross-IFAT and PRNT as well.The results indicated that YN87448 strain belongs to Sindbis virus, Alphavirus, Togaviridae. YN87448 strain virus was plaque purified(PYN87448). The biological character of PYN87448 strain virus was studied too. PYN87448 strain virus will be used in the molecule biological test.

In order to investigate the application of recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) vector containing Tet regulation system and HSVtk gene in cancer gene therapy, pAAV/TRE/HSVtk/Tet-On was constructed and identified with PCR and restriction enzyme digestion. Packaging cells HEK293 were cotransfected with plasmids pAAV/TRE/HSVtk/Tet-On, pAAV-RC and pAAV-helper to produce infectious rAAV, and CsCl2 densitygradient centrifugation method was performed for purification and concentration of rAAV. The viruses were then transduced into MCF-7 cells. The results of dot blot hybridization indicate that the rAAV can transfer the target gene into MCF-7 cells. MTT assay showed that GCV could kill AAV-infected MCF-7 cells under the induction of Dox. The data demonstrated that rAAV containing Tet regulation system and HSVtk gene was successfully obtained, and could be used for further investigation of in vivo and in vitro experiments.
