To meet the need of cost-effective multi-biosignal monitoring devices nowadays, we designed a system based on super low power MCU. It can collect, record and transfer several signals including ECG, Oxygen saturation, thoracic and abdominal wall expansion, oronasal airflow signal. The data files can be stored on a flash chip and transferred to a computer by a USB module. In addition, the sensing data can be sent wirelessly in real time. Considering that long term work of wireless module consumes much energy, we present a low-power optimization method based on delay constraint. Lower energy consumption comes at the cost of little delay. Experimental results show that it can effectively decrease the energy consumption without changing wireless module and transfer protocol. Besides, our system is powered by two dry batteries and can work at least 8 hours throughout a whole night.

With the advent of the aging society, there will be a wide range of applications if novel intelligent multifunctional nursing beds can be developed for hospitals, bead houses and families at the same time. By listing and analyzing existing products, this paper summarized four function categories for multifunctional nursing beds, including security assurance, treatment aid, comfortability optimization, and human-machine interaction and communication. Finally, by comparing existing functions and potential user requirements, this paper proposed four function development trends, including physiological parameter monitoring, sleep aid, intelligent temperature control, and video communication.

Objective To identify the pathogen of an acute epidemic gastroenteritis outbreak in newborn room. Methods Forty five samples were collected from 38 newborn patients at the peak of a diarrhea outbreak, which happened in a newborn room in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region during December 2008 to February 2009. The presence of rotavirus antigen, Adeno-like virus antigen and Astrovirus antigen were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The presence of Astrovirus RNA were detected by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) with universal primer of Astrovirus. Thirteen samples positive for Astrovirus nucleic acid were analyzed by sequencing and phylogenetic tree. Four samples positive for both Astrovirus antigen and Astrovirus nucleic acid were observed by immune electron microscopy. Results Both rotavirus antigen and Adeno-like virus antigen were negative in 45 faecal samples. Thirty samples were positive for Astrovirus antigen when checked by ELISA, which resulted in a positive rate of 66.7%. Thirty-one samples were positive for Astrovirus RNA when check by RT-PCR, which resulted in a positive rate of 68.9%. The genotype results confirmed all patients were infected with genotype 1 Astrovirus. The gene sequences of thirteen samples were compared with reference strains of Astrovirus type 1 in GeneBank and the homology rate of nucleotide sequence was 90.9 %- 96.3 %. The homology rate of intra these thirteen sample was 94.7%-100.0%. Four positive samples were randomly selected and observed by immune electron microscopy and a large amount of Astrovirus particles were found in two of these samples. Conclusion Genotype 1 Astrovirus is the pathogen of this diarrhea outbreak in newborn.

Chinese Journal of Medical Instrumentation 2011;35(3):169-173
This paper presents a method of noninvasive and continuous measurement of blood pressure by pulse wave. The method is realized by extracting the characteristic parameters of human brachial artery pulse wave and developing the stepwise regression equation. The experiment results showed that blood pressure measured by this method was well correlated with which measured by mercury sphygmomanometer. The mean difference of blood pressure was smaller than 3 mmHg, and the standard deviation was smaller than 5 mmHg.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2002;19(1):80-83
Computed Tomography(CT) is one of the successful methods, in which mathematical theories are combined with engineering technology. Volume CT will replace the cross-sectional CT that has been widely used. In this paper two new cone vertex orbits, which are circle-and-arc and regular triangular pyramid lines, have been proposed and their complete conditions for exact reconstruction have been obtained. After having studied circle-and-n-line cone vertex orbit which is one of the important orbits in volume CT, we have given a better proof about the complete condition in circle-and-line and circle-and-2-line cone vertex orbit and have obtained some proper conclusions. Finally, we extend the above results to circle-and-n-line vertex orbit. These results will be useful for the design of direct volume imaging.

Nanoporous ZnO was used as a carrier to prepare drug solid dispersion, the mechanism of which to improve the drug dissolution was also studied. Nanoporous ZnO, obtained through chemical deposition method, was used as a carrier to prepare indomethacin and cilostazol solid dispersions by melt-quenching method, separately. The results of scanning electron microscope, surface area analyzer, fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimeter and X-ray diffraction showed that drugs were implanted into nanopores of ZnO by physical adsorption effect and highly dispersed into nanopores of ZnO in amorphous form, moreover, these nanopores strongly inhibited amorphous recrystallization in the condition of 45 degrees C and 75% RH. In addition, the results of the dissolution tested in vitro exhibited that the accumulated dissolutions of indomethacin and cilostazol solid dispersions achieved about 90% within 5 min and approximately 80% within 30 min. It was indicated in this study that the mechanism of drug dissolution improvement was associated with the effects of nanoporous ZnO carrier on increasing drug dispersion, controlling drug in nanopores as amorphous form and inhibiting amorphous recrystallization.
