World Science and Technology-Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2014;(9):1984-1988
The proceeding of syndrome differentiation and treatment of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is like a problem-solving process, operated by the steps-- what is it, why does it form, and how do I do. Before making a treatment decision, a doctor needs to recognize all symptoms. However, the cognitive process is influenced by the doctor's previous knowledge and experience. Because of experimental techniques involved, TCM doctors today can see and understand the phenomenon which ancient doctors could not know. Besides, the laboratory test indices which ancient doctors could not know arouse new thinking and more interpretations of the etiology and pathogenesis for TCM doctors today. This paper would discuss the experimental techniques involved in changes of TCM treatment of liver cirrhosis as an example. It found that there were some kind of differences in understanding these issues between ancient and modern doctors, what is liver cirrhosis, why does it form, and how do I treat it. The more doctors' under-standings close to the truth of what liver cirrhosis is and why it forms, the more efficaciously they resolve the prob-lem, how to treat the disease.

China Occupational Medicine 2022;49(2):171-175
Objective To analyze the mediating effect of mental resilience on the relationship between work stress and sleep
quality in psychiatrists. Methods A total of 221 front-line psychiatrists from four mental health centers in Shannxi Province
were selected as the study subjects using convenience sampling method. The questionnaires of Scale for Occupational Stressors
on Clinician,Chinese Version of Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Scale were used to
investigate the work stress, mental resilience and sleep quality of the psychiatrists. We conducted Bootstrap mediation test to
analyze the mediating effect of mental resilience using SPSS PROCESS V3.5 macro program. Results The total score of work
stress of psychiatrists was 97.0±17.5,and the medium(P25,P75)of mental resilience and sleep quality scores were 84.0(75.5,
94.0)and 6.0(5.0,9.0)respectively. The detection rate of sleep disorders among psychiatrists was 33.9%(75/221). The total
score of work stress of psychiatrists was negatively correlated with the total score of mental resilience [rank correlation
coefficient(rS
)=−0.34,P<0.01],and was positively correlated with the total score of sleep quality(rS
=0.48,P<0.01). The total
score of mental resilience was negatively correlated with that of sleep quality (rS
= − 0.39,P<0.01). The work stress of
psychiatrists had a positive predictive effect on sleep quality[standardized regression coefficient(β)=0.41.P<0.01],and a
negative predictive effect on mental resilience(β)=−0.38,P<0.01). Mental resilience had a negative predictive effect on sleep
quality(β)=−0.24,P<0.01. Mental resilience played a partial mediating role between work stress and sleep quality, and the
mediating effect accounted for 22.0% of the total effect. Conclusion Both work stress and mental resilience of psychiatrists can
directly affect their sleep quality, and the mental resilience has a partial mediating role in the effect of work stress on sleep
quality.

AIM: To study the molecular mechanism of EGCG on inhibiting the growth of hepatic carcinoma. METHODS: The proliferation of hepatic cell line HepG2 cultured with different doses of EGCG was studied by MTT and suspension/adherence methods. The effect of EGCG on the expression of HIF-1α/VEGF at mRNA and protein levels in vitro and in vivo was evaluated by RT-PCR and Western blotting, respectively. The inhibition of EGCG on the growth of tumor implanted into athymic nude mice was also observed. RESULTS: The proliferation of hepatic cell line HepG2 was inhibited by EGCG in a dose-dependent manner. The expression of HIF-1α/VEGF was suppressed markedly by EGCG at protein level. However, the inhibitory effect of EGCG on the mRNA expression was only observed on VEGF, not on HIF-1α. In the animal experiment, the implanted tumor growth was inhibited by 39.8%±5.1%. CONCLUSION: EGCG suppresses the hepatic carcinoma cell growth, and interrupts the HIF-1α/VEGF signaling pathway significantly, indicating a fundamental mechanism of EGCG for inhibiting tumor growth.

Chinese Journal of Analytical Chemistry 2010;38(1):91-94
In order to optimize the ~(18)O labeling method, two key aspects, peptide dispersion and trypsin deac tivation were discussed o The addition of Rapigest SF in H_2~('8)O and microwave heating enhanced labeling efficiency of α-casein digested peptides(~(18)O/~(16)O) ratio >99%).Chemical modification with tris(2-carboxyeth yl) phosphine (TCEP) and iodoacetamide (IAA) resulted in trypsin deactivated completely. No significant back-exchange from ~(18)O to ~(16)O was observed after labeling in 6 days. The experiment result with peptide mixture from showed that the improved method could be effectively used to label protein and peptide.
