In the Jinsong district of Beijing,345 patients with dyslipidemia were selected for study.Health management was implemented for one year, during which time, monitoring, analysis, and evaluation of the health of individuals and groups was conducted; health advice and guidance were given with regard to health risk factors. After the one-year intervention, the average daily dietary intake of salt, oil, and meat was reduced by 2,4,and 18 g,respectively, and the average daily intake of vegetables increased by 45 g.The average levels of body mass index, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, total cholesterol, triglycerides, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol were reduced by 0.47 kg/m2,3.0 mm Hg ( 1 mm Hg =0.133 kPa),1.6 mm Hg,0.76 mmol/L,0.83 mmol/L,and 0.42 mmol/L,respectively,while the average level of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol increased by 0.05 mmol/L.All the differences were significant.

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of electroacupuncture in treating spastic paralysis following cerebral infarction. Methods: Sixty patients with spastic paralysis after cerebral infarction were randomly allocated into control group and treatment group, 30 cases each. The control group was treated with conventional acupuncture and the treatment group was treated with conventional acupuncture plus electroacupuncture according to the principle of antagonistic acupuncture. Both groups were given routine drugs and scalp acupuncture treatment. Results: Statistical analysis showed significant differences in NFI score and clinical curative effect score between pretreatment and posttreatment in the treatment and control groups and between the treatment and control groups. Conclusion: Both electroacupuncture and conventional acupuncture have clinical curative effect on spastic paralysis following cerebral infarction, but the curative effect of electroacupuncture is significantly superior to that of conventional acupuncture.

Objective To evaluate the application of microscopic extended transsphenoidal approach in surgery for clival chordomas. Methods Nine patients with clival chordomas were managed by microscopic extended transsphenoidal approach from August 2007 to March 2008 with the assistance of neuro-navigation. Among those, 3-D stereoscopic virtual reality images of 4 cases were reconstructed successfully, which could identify the relationship between the tumors and surrounding structures and conduced to the operations. Results Total removal was achieved in 3 cases, which was confirmed by the imaging-scopy after the operations, subtotal removal in 6 cases. Because of the invasion of the subdural space by the tumor,CSF leakage occurred in 2 cases after the tumors were removed, which was cured by the reconstruction of the cranial base with the fat tissue and albumin gel. Conclusion The microscopic extended trans spbenoidal approach is a viable, minimally invasive alternative for surgical treatment of clival tumors. By this approach, the clivus including the anterior skull base and cavernous sinus can be exposed conveniently.

Erythropoietin(EPO) has an anti-apoptotic effect, and promotes the proliferation and differentiation of erythroid progenitor cells. Several studies have indicated that EPO can protect photoreceptor cells from the lightinduced retinal degeneration ;protect retinal neurons from ischemia-reperfusion injury and retinal ganglion cells after acute and chronic ocular hypertension; promote ganglion cell survival and axonal regeneration after optic nerve transaction; attenuate inflammation in multiple sclerosis optic neuritis; reduce the permeability of the retinal barrier and protect retinal neurons in diabetic retinopathy; enhance the stability of hypoxic retinal vessels in retinopathy of prematurity. Herein,we review the distribution of EPO and its receptor in retina, their expression in animal model of retinal diseases, and their effects and mechanisms in protection of retinal neurons and optic nerve.

This study aimed to explore the cognitive dysfunction of and hippocampal neuron damage to Wistar rats with STZ-induced diabetes at different morbidity time. All Wistar rats in the tests received intraperitoneal injections of streptozotocin (STZ; 60 mg/kg) to induce type 1 diabetes. The concentration of blood glucose and the body weight were investigated, the cognitive ability of rats was assessed using a standardized Y-maze, and the apoptotic neurons in the CA1 of the hippocampus were also examined by using the HE staining. While the sickening time was prolonged, the blood glucose concentration of the experimental rats increased continuously and the body weight decreased. On the 70th day after STZ administration, the neuronal loss in the hippocampal CA1 region increased and the working errors increased in rats with the diabetes. The results showed that Wistar rats could complicate with diabetic encephalopathy in 70 days after injection of STZ for inducing the diabetes.

Objective To investigate the diagnosis and operation treatment of primary intrahepatic cholangiocelhlar carcinoma (PICC), for improving the level of diagnosis and treament of PICC. Methods The clinical data of 18 cases with PICC confirmed by operation were analyzed retrospectively. Results In the early stage, no specific symptoms was found in all the 18 cases, the positive cases of AFP, CEA, CA199 and live cirrhosis were 2, 4, 3 and 4. The diagnostic rates of ultrasound examination, CT and MRI were 11.1%(2/18), 42.9%(6/14) and 45.5% (5/11 ). Seven cases were diagnosed as suffering from PICC and the others were misdiagnosed. Of all the 18 patients, 8 cases underwent radical resection and 10 cases received palliative excision. Conclusions PICC patients lack clinical features and serum tumor marker, the rato of misdiagnosis is high, but that of radical resection is low. Knowing its clinicopathological features well. Radicalresection is the best way for treatment of PICC.
