Objective: To observe the effects of erigeron injection on the biochemical indicators of hepatotoxicity caused by ischemia and reperfusion of the mice intestine. Methods:A experimental model of liver lesion induced by ischemia-reperfusion of the mice intestine was set up. Serum was obtained after 20 minutes of ischemia followed by 1 hour of reperfusion. Contents of SOD and MDA in liver were measured. Results: The serum ALT significantly increased following ischemia and reperfusion, which was attenuated by the erigeron injection (P<0.01). Erigeron injection can also increase the contents of SOD and MDA in the mice liver (p<0.05 and 0.01, respectively). Conclusion: Erigeron injection can improve the biochemical indicators of liver lesion induced by ischemia and reperfusion of the mice intestine. It is indicated that the protective effects of erigeron injection was related to anti-oxidation mechanisms.

Chonnam Medical Journal 2019;55(3):127-135
Most differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) patients have an excellent prognosis. However, about one-third of DTC patients with recurrent or metastatic disease lose the hallmark of specific iodine uptake initially or gradually and acquire radioactive iodine-refractory DTC (RAIR-DTC) with poor prognosis. Due to the potentially severe complications from unnecessarily repeated RAI therapy and encouraging progress of multiple targeted drugs for advanced RAIR-DTC patients, it has become crucial to identify RAIR-DTC early. In this review, we focus on the progress and controversies regarding the defining of RAIR-DTC, further with subsistent approaches and promising molecular nuclear medicine imaging in identifying RAIR-DTC, which may shed light on the proper management methodsof such patients.

Objective: To compare the efficacy of different treatment protocols in treating transient synovitis of the hip (TSH) in children and to optimize the clinical treatment strategy for this condition. Methods: Ninety kids with TSH were divided into a control group, a chiropractic group and a chiropractic plus foot bath group using the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional traction; the chiropractic group was given chiropractic treatment based on the control group; the chiropractic plus foot bath group was given Chinese medicine foot bath based on the chiropractic group. Traction and foot bath were conducted once daily while chiropractic was done once every other day, all with 14 d as a treatment course for a total of two courses. Changes in the visual analog scale (VAS) score and range of motion (ROM) of the hip joint in the three groups were observed, and the efficacy was compared. Results: The total effective rate was 93.3% in the chiropractic plus foot bath group, versus 76.7% in the chiropractic group and 66.7% in the control group, and the total effective rate was notably higher in the chiropractic plus foot bath group than in the other two groups (both P<0.05). Respectively after the first and second treatment course, the VAS score decreased significantly in each of the three groups compared with that before treatment (all P<0.01), and the ROM of the hip joint in flexion increased significantly (all P<0.01). After two treatment courses, the VAS score was lower in the chiropractic plus foot bath group than in the other two groups (both P<0.05), and its ROM of the hip joint in flexion was larger than that in the other two groups (both P<0.05). Conclusion: Based on traction, chiropractic plus Chinese medicine foot bath can effectively reduce pain and improve motor function of the hip joint in treating TSH.

This study aims to construct a eukaryotic expression system for envelope gene of Jaagsiekte sheep retrovirus, observes its localization in 293T cells, and investigates the potential in inducing malignant transformation of NIH3T3 cells. By RT-PCR, the full-length cDNA of envelope gene of Jaagsiekte sheep retrovirus (exJSRV-env) was amplified from the extract of naturally infected sheep lung. The clone of target gene was sub-cloned into eukaryotic expression system pEGFP-C1, and validated by PCR, restriction endonuclease, and sequencing. Bioinformatic analysis concerning biological function and cellular localiza tion of exJSRV-env was also performed. The recombinant clone of exJSRV-env was transfected into 293T cells and NIH3T3 cells by Lipofectamine LTX. The expression and celluar localization in 293T cells were validated by confocal microscopy. Soft agar colony formation assay was employed to test the anchorage-independent growth of NIH3T3. DNA sequencing and restriction enzyme digestion with Kpn I and Hind III indicated the correct construction of the recombinant plasmid, which was named pEGFP-C1/exJSRV-env. Amino acid sequence alignment of exJSRV-env with reference sequences found 85%-100% homogeneity. A YRNM motif was discovered at the cytoplasmic tail of envelope gene, which is exclusively found in exogenous viruses. Phylogenetic tree analysis showed that our clone of exJSRV-env clustered closely with pathogenic exogenous Jaagsiekte sheep retroviruses. Fluorescence microscopy indicated typical membrane localization of exJSRV-env protein. NIH3T3 cells transfected with exJSRV-env lost contact inhibition, and acquired colony forming ability in soft agar. This study indicated that envelope protein of Jaagsiekte sheep retrovirus can induce malignant transformation of mouse fibroblast cell NIH3T3. Discoveries of this study provide a basis for further structural and functional research on Jaagsiekte sheep retrovirus envelope protein.

Chinese Journal of Pancreatology 2010;10(5):309-311
Objective To investigate the relationship between alcohol and smoking and the development of pancreatic calcification in chronic pancreatitis (CP) in China. Methods The patients were divided into two groups according to the presence of pancreatic calcification at admission and the data were analyzed; furthermore, the discharged patients without pancreatic calcification were divided into two groups as newly diagnosed pancreatic calcification group and persistent non-pancreatic calcification group. Logistic regression and Cox proportional-hazards model was used for multivariate analysis of the risk factors for pancreatic calcification. Results From January1997 to July 2007, 449 patients with CP were enrolled and followed up successfully. 248 patients presented with pancreatic calcification at admission; among the 201 patients presented without pancreatic calcification, 13 patients developed pancreatic calcification after discharge. Patients with pancreatic calcification had a young age at onset, long CP history, higher incidence of diabetes mellitus and diarrhea. Age at onset ≤ 40, alcohol intake over 20 g/day, and diabetes mellitus and diarrhea were risk factors for pancreatic calcification. The only risk factor of development of pancreatic calcification after discharge was excessive alcohol intake (OR: 3.2). Conclusions Alcohol intake increased the risk of pancreatic calcifications, suggesting the patients abstain from alcohol intake. Further studies are necessary to clarify the role of smoking.

Objective To study the operative technique and effect of temporary balloon occlusion of the abdominal aorta for preventing intraoperative bleeding during cesarean for patients with pernicious placenta previa and placenta accreta. Methods Retrospective analysis was conducted on the intraoperative situation of forty-one cases and information of follow-up twenty-nine cases, which were pernicious placenta previa and placenta accreta and delivered in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from May 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014. Diagnosis was confirmed by line of color Doppler ultrasound and MRI for all patients before operations. An interventional physician performed right femoral artery puncture and preset the abdominal aortic balloon catheter in the digital subtraction angiography operation room before cesarean. At the same time of fetal delivery, 10 ml normal saline was injected into the balloon immediately, which results in filling of the balloon and blocking of the aorta. According to the area and depth of placenta implantation and implantation or penetration of the posterior bladder wall, placenta separation, partial resection of the uterine wall and partial bladder resection and repair were performed correspondingly. Meanwhile, saline in the balloon was pumped out gradually until empty. Condition of placenta implantation, blood loss and blood transfusion volume during the operation, intraoperative and postoperative complications, the duration and dose of fetal radiation exposure, and Apgar score of neonates were analyzed. Results Among the 41 cases, penetrative placenta and implanted placenta were observed in five cases and 36 cases, respectively. The latter 36 cases including 28 cases of bladder posterior wall accreta and eight cases of bladder posterior wall penetration. For all cases, the average operation time was (68.5±15.3) min, the mean blood loss in the operation was (1 058±960) ml, among which eight received blood transfusion with an average of (600±400) ml, and the mean hospital stay was (8.2±2.3) d. Uteruses were reserved in all cases. The mean duration and dose of fetal radiation exposure was (8.1±3.6) s and (5.2±2.9) mGy, and the Apgar score of neonates was 8.7±0.5 at 1 min and 9.5±0.3 at 5 min, respectively. The patients were followed up until October 31, 2014. Among them, six were lost, six were still in puerperium, 18 were breast-feeding, and the menses of 11 had returned. Conclusion Preset abdominal aortic balloon catheter in pernicious placenta previa and placenta accrete patients might effectively reduce the blood loss during cesarean section as well as the risk of hysterectomy through temporary occlusion of the abdominal aorta.

Chinese Journal of Stomatology 2002;37(2):106-108
OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of transforming growth factor beta(1) (TGF-beta(1)) and bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2) combined with heparin on odontoblast differentiation.
METHODSTrypsin-isolated dental papillae from day 17 mandibular first molar were cultured in semisolid-agar medium for 6d. Recombinant human TGF-beta(1) and BMP2 combined with heparin were added to the medium.
RESULTSTGF-beta(1) and BMP2 combined with heparin induced differentiation of odontoblasts and promoted matrix secretion. Odontoblast differentiation never occurred when TGF-beta(1) or BMP2 were added alone to the medium, whereas an increase in extracellular matrix production was observed.
CONCLUSIONThese results demonstrate that both TGF-beta(1) and BMP2 stimulate the cytological and functional differentiation of preodontoblasts, and that heparin might play important role as a substrate.
