This article is to report our observation of the therapeutic effect of antihista-mine and anti-inflammation drugs on the early pulmonary edema in respiratory burns. Thirty-two dogs were employed in the experiment and divided into 4 groups: Group Ⅰconsisted of 8 dogs which were inflicted with respiratory tract burns without any treatment and served as the control.Group Ⅱ: 8 animals received H1H2 receptor antagonists of benadryl and cime-tidine after the burns.Group Ⅲ: 8 animals were treated with indomethacin after the burns.Group Ⅳ: 8 animals were treated with dexamethasome after the burns. It was found that under conventional light microscope the interstitial pulmonary edema in GroupⅡ was the mildest and the alveolar edema in both Groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ was milder than in the other two. The difference between Groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ was statistically significant(P

In order to investigate the impact of fulvic acid (FA) on the hydroxylysyl glycosylation in collagen bio-synthesis, 40 NMRI mice were divided into two groups (n = 20 in each group, consisting 10 females and 10 males). The animal was maintained for two generations by different diets: control group with normal water and food and study group with water containing 30 mg/L FA and normal food. The second generation of the animal was slaughtered, and the biochemical parameters of collagen content and the degree of collagen hydroxylysyl glycosylation in skin, rib and tibia were detected by biochemical methods. The mean value of collagen in the study group was increased slightly, and no significant difference between study group and control group was found (P > 0.05), but the content of glucose-glactose-hydroxylysine (GGH) was significantly decreased in the study group in comparison with the control group (P<0.01). It was suggested that through the decrease of GGH 30 mg/L FA could inhibit the activity of galactosyl-hydroxylysylglucosyl-transferase and further disturb the post-translational modification of collagen intracellularly.

Corneal opacity is one of the most commonly used parameters for estimating postmortem interval (PMI). This paper proposes a new method to study the relationship between changes of corneal opacity and PMI by processing and analyzing cornea images. Corneal regions were extracted from images of rabbits' eyes and described by color-based and texture-based features, which could represent the changes of cornea at different PMI. A KNN classifier was used to reveal the association of image features and PMI. The result of the classification showed that the new method was reliable and effective.

Objective:To develop an HPLC-DAD-ELSD method for the determination of nitidine chloride, 5-ethoxychelerythrine, bergeninum and ardisiacrispin A in Shangtong tinctures ( STD) . Methods: A Hypersil C18 column was used as the chromatographic column, the flow rate was 0. 8 ml·min-1 . For nitidine chloride and 5-ethoxychelerythrine, the mobile phase A consisted of acetoni-trile,the mobile phase B consisted of 0. 1% formic acid-triethylamine (pH 4. 5),and the DAD detection wavelength was at 273 nm. For bergeninum and ardisiacrispin A, the mobile phase consisted of methanol-water(25∶75), the temperature of drift tube was set at 95℃, and the gas flow (N2) was set at 2. 5 SLPM·min-1. Results:There was a good linear relationship between the concentration and peak area for nitidine chloride and 5-ethoxychelerythrine within the range of 0. 021-0. 426 μg (r=0. 999 5) and 0. 075-1. 494 μg (r=0. 999 8), respectively. The average recovery was 99. 22%(RSD=0. 64%) and 98. 61%(RSD=0. 46%), respectively. There was a good linear relationship between the concentration and peak area for bergeninum and ardisiacrispin A within the range of 0. 215-4. 304 μg(r=0. 999 3) and 0. 286-5. 728 μg(r=0. 999 7), respectively. The average recovery was 99. 15%(RSD=0. 77%) and 99. 25%(RSD=0. 56%) accordingly. Conclusion:The method is accurate, sensitive and reproducible, and can be used in the de-termination of nitidine chloride, 5-ethoxychelerythrine, bergeninum and ardisiacrispin A in STD.

Objective:To investigate the clinical characteristics and therapy of laryngeal neuroendocrine carcinoma(LNEC).Method:Ten cases of LNEC treated in our department were retrospectively analyzed.Result:Eight out of 10 cases were were atypical carcinoid:1 case treated as supraglottic horizontal partial laryngectomy died 22 months after operation; 1 case was lost;the other 6 cases were followed up for more than 2 years. Two cases were small cell type, one received supra-cricoid partial laryngectomy-cricohyoidopexy (SCPL-CHP) ,neck dissection, and radiotherapy, but died after 14 months;the other was receiving radiotherapy. Conclusion:LNEC is a rare malignant tumor and the diagnosis relies on clinical characteristics, histopathological and immunohistochemistry examination. The different types of LNEC should give different treatment protocols.

Objective To review the important points in the preoperative assessment and the surgical technique in precise hepatic pedicle dissection in anatomical hepatic segmentectomy. Methods 104 patients who underwent anatomical hepatic segmentectomy were divided into two groups according to the different surgical approaches adopted in a prospective and non-randomized manner:the precise hepatic pedicle dissection group (the precise group,n=44) and the conventional hepatectomy group (the conventional group,n=60).The perioperative and follow-up data were analyzed.Patients who had primary liver cancer, including hepatocellular carcinoma and intrahepatic cholangiocellular carcinoma, were analyzed separately. Results (1) There was no perioperative death in the two groups. There was no significant differences in blood loss and transfusion between the 2 groups of patients (P=0.069,0.208; t=1.844,1.266).There was a significantly higher rate of vascular inflow occlusion (P=0.001).There were significantly longer periods of vascular inflow occlusion and operative time (P=0.001,0.001; t=3.849,3.574) in the precise group. There was no significant difference in postoperative complications (P=0.988) and the duration of postoperative hospital stay (P=0.509;t=0.662) between the two groups.(2) In patients with primary liver cancer, there were no significant differences between the precise group (n=29) and the conventional group (n=41) in tumor margin positivity, vascular invasion and pathological staging (P=0.985,0.630,0.769).(3) All patients were followed up for two years. When compared with the conventional group, the disease-free survival (P=0.012),overall survival (P =0.006),and median survival (16.5 ± 4.5mo vs.7.8 ± 3.8mo)were significantly longer in the precise group. Conclusion Precise hepatic pedicle dissection had the same safety and efficacy as conventional method in partial hepatectomy. For primary liver cancer, precise hepatic pedicle dissection had better survival compared to the conventional method when the surgical margin was negative.

Objective To summarize the clinical data and laboratory features of vera polycythemia incorporated with hemolysis in one case. Methods The treatment and diagnosis of series of laboratory detection with conventional cytogenetics, mutation detection in JAK2V617F,BCR/ABL fusion gene were investigated with literature. Results JAK2V617F point mutation was detected positively,BCR/ABL fusion gene was negative and trisomic chromosome 8. The case was mend and discharged after successively treated with conventional treatment of dexamethasone, antiinfective, hepatoprotective and follow-up treatment of bloodletting, hydroxyurea and interferon. Conclusions The onset of vera polycythemia is latent which is difficult to find in the early phase.Allele-specific PCR (AS-PCR) of JAK2V617F mutation will be helpful to the diagnosis.
