Objective To evaluate the effect of probucol on endothelium-dependent vasodilatation(i,e.flow- mediated dilation,FMD) function of the old patients with isolated systolic hypertension.Methods In this single- blind study,a total of 64 old pariems with isolated systolic hypertension were randomized to receive conventional an- tihypertensive therapy and probucol (0.5g twice daily,group A,n=33) or receive conventional antihyperrensive therapy(group B,n=31) for 12 weeks.The levels of blood lipid were measured and vascular endothelial function was assessed in the brachial artery by high-resolution ultrasound technique in form of endothelium-dependent vasodi- latation before and after treatment.Results After 12-week treatment,the levels of TC,LDL-C and HDL-C in group A were significantly reduced compared with those before treatment(all P0.05).Flow-mediated dilatation parameters in both groups were obviously improved compared with those before treatment( P

Objective To study the heart rate variability(HRV) and blood pressure variability(BPV) in patients with different grades of hypertension.Methods 120 cases of patients with hypertension,according to 1999 WHO/ISH hypertension diagnostic criteria are:1 hypertension in 40 cases,2 of hypertension in 40 cases,3 of hypertension in 40 cases and 40 cases of normal control group were detected heart rate variability and blood pressure variability.Results HRV was significantly different between the two groups(P <0.05 or p <0.01).The blood pressure increased and HRV tended to decrease.The BPV was significantly different(P < 0.01) between the two groups;the blood pressure increased and the BPV tended to increase.Conclusion The grade of hypertension is related to HRV and BPV.

Objective To provide references for rational clinical usage and purchase of TCM decoction pieces for blood-activating and stasis-removing. Methods Excel 2013 software was used to conduct statistical analysis on categories, consumption quantity, consumption sum and annual average growth rate of TCM decoction pieces for blood-activating and stasis-removing during 2011-2015 in TCM Hospital of Jiangsu Province (hereinafter refered to as our hospital). Results The consumption quantity and consumption sum of TCM decoction pieces for blood-activating and stasis-removing in our hospital increased year by year. Among all types of TCM decoction pieces for blood-activating and stasis-removing, TCM decoction pieces for activating blood and adjusting maridians occupied the largest amount, followed by TCM decoction pieces for activating blood and relieving pains, breaking up the static blood and eliminating masses, and blood-activating and wound - curing. The TCM decoction pieces with the biggest annual consumption quantity were Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, Chuanxiong Rhizoma, and Curcumae Radix, and the TCM decoction pieces with the biggest annual consumption sum were Notoginseng Radix et Rhizoma, Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, and Carthami Flos. Conclusion Both the consumption quantity and the consumption sum of the TCM decoction pieces for blood-activating and stasis-removing in our hospital have been increasing year by year. However, the proportion consumption quantity and the consumption sum of TCM decoction pieces and medicine utilization structure have kept stable, and in basically rational use.

Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of combination therapy with low-dose pravastatin and fenofibrate in patients with combined hyperlipidemia. Methods One hundred eighty nine patients with combined hyperlipidemia were randomly assigned to receive 10 mg pravastatin (n=64) or 200 mg fenofibrate (n=63), or a combination of 10 mg pravastatin and 200 mg fenofibrate (n=62) for 12 weeks. The patients in the monotherapy groups (n=35) whose lipid levels were not controlled after 12 weeks were randomly assigned to receive 20 mg pravastatin, or 200 mg fenofibrate, or a combination of 10 mg pravastatin and 200 mg fenofibrate for another 12 weeks. Using isoeugenol as the sole carbon source,a novel strain,producing high amounts of vanillin from isoeugenol,was isolated from soil.According to the physiological and biochemical characteristics and its 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis,it was identified as Bacillus fusiformis.The initial results showed that 4.20 g/L vanillin was obtained by bioconversion of 2% isoeugenol with Bacillus fusiformis.

Objective To investigate the chondrocyte proliferation and extracellular matrix biosynthesis of electrospun PCL scaffolds seeded with rabbit chondrocytes under flow perfusion culture in vitro.Methods Nonwoven PCL microfiber mats were fabricated,and contra-aperture cylindrical glass equipment as a perfusion bioreactor was designed and manufactured on our own.The experiment included peffusion culture group and static culture group.Primary chondrocytes were isolated from the knee joints of two-month-old New Zealand white rabbits and seeded into scaffolds.The scaffold-cell complexes were harvested at 3,7,and 14 days of culture for scanning electron micrograph (SEM) analysis,biochemical assay,real-time PCR and histology analysis.Results Electrospun PCL scaffolds were composed of microfibers with a diameter of 1.67±0.76 μm and pores with a diameter of 17.65±7.11 μm.SEM showed a better cell proliferation with typical morphology of chondrocytes under perfusion culture.At 7 days of culture,DNA content in perfusion culture group was higher than in static culture group.At 3,7 and 14 days of culture,compared with the static culture group,glycosaminoglycan (GAG) content and GAG/DNA ratio in perfusion culture group were higher,and the differences were statistically significant.At 14 days of culture,real-time PCR showed aggrecan and collagen type Ⅱ gene expression and collagen type Ⅱ to collagen type Ⅰ ratio were higher in perfusion culture group than in static culture group; HE and safranin O staining showed a significant cell proliferation,infiltration,as well as extracellular matrix biosynthesis in perfusion culture group.Conclusion Under flow perfusion culture,the electrospun PCL scaffolds seeded with rabbit chondrocytes can enhance chondrocyte proliferation and extracellular matrix biosynthesis,which is a promising method for cartilage tissue engineering.

Objective To investigate the clinical features of Kawasaki disease.Methods A retrospective analysis was performed in 272 children diagnosed as Kawasaki disease from 2002 to 2006.Clinical data,laboratory findings and auxiliary examination results were collected for these patients.Results The male-to-female ratio Was 2.58:1.Onset ages between 1 to 3 years accounted for 59.2%of patients.Of these patients,100%had a fever for more than 5 days,76.1%transient polymorphous exanthema,74.6% bilateral conjunctival hyperemia,47.8%flare and fissure on the oral lip,58.5%strawberry tongue,22.8% firm swelling of hands and feet as well as flushing of palms and soles,3 1.2%subacute desquamation at the junctional site between nail bed and skin,36%cervical lymphadenopathy.Laboratory findings showed a significant increase in the count of peripheral blood leukocytes and pefipheral blood platelets as well as erythrocyte sedimentation rate in 80.5%,87.5%and 96.2% of Patients,respectively.Additionally,81.6%of these patients were positive for C reactive protein and the frequency of coronary aaery involvement was 54.3%.All patients were treated with aspirin,and high-dose intravenous immunoglobulin was given to 258 patients.Fever relieved and the condition was controlled in all patients with an average hospitalization period of 8.9 days.Conclusions Kawasaki disease should be suspected in Patients with exanthematous lesions,fever lasting for more than 5 days and poor response to antibiotic therapy.Peripheral blood platelet count and cardiac ultrasound are of great value in the diagnosis of Kawasaki disease.Aspirin iS the first choice in treating Kawasaki disease,and adjunctive high-dose intravennous immunoglobulin treatment may facilitate the quick control offever.

Objective To apply the techniques of CAD/CAM in the repair of defects and correction of deformity on the jaw bones so as to improve the accuracy and controllability of operations.Methods With CAD techniques,3D bone model was reconstructed based on CT images.Then,a repairing model was created with mirror operation on original model.The physical models of original model and repairing model were fabricated through rapid prototyping.Based on physical models,operation plan and model surgery with pre-forming plate could be designed.Results The designed operation plan and pre-forming plate techniques of CAD/CAM were successfully applied in eight patients,with satisfactory results.Conclusions With techniques of CAD/CAM,reconstructing and fabricating the original bone model and mirror repair model are very helpful for designing operation plan for maxillofacial surgery.It also can improve the surgery accuracy and save operation time obviously.

Objective To report our usage of a combined flap which is constituted of bilateral hallux nails, skins, bones to reconstruct a finger, and to introduce the method and outcome of this way. Methods Combine two halves of halluxes harvested from both feet to reform a fabricated finger and then transplant it to the finger stump to reconstruct the defect part of the finger. Plantar flaps or some other flaps near the donor sites were transposed to cover them. From June 2003 to June 2009, a total of 20 fingers (20 cases) which had defect degrees range from I to Ⅲunderwent reconstruction surgeries in this way. Results All the 20 fingers transplanted survived completely. Follow-ups 1 to 5 years after each surgery: all the fabricated fingers had very realistic configurations. The MP joints of the reconstructed thrumbs got to the normal range of motion, and the other reconstructed fingers' total ROM were 203 degree on average. All the reconstructed fingers had the sensation function above S3,and their two-point discriminations ranged from 6mm to 10mm. Both halluxes of each case were conserved major parts of nails and had nice, symmetric appearances. All the flaps for the donor halluxes survived completely, and none of the cases showed pains, ulcers or abrasions of their feet. All the cases showed normal gaits during follow-ups. Conclusion The combined flap by bilateral hallux nails, skins, bones is an ideal alteration for finger defect reconstruction for the important advantages of realistic configuration as well as minor destructions to donor sites.

ObjectiveTo explore the effect of osteoarthritis (OA) chondrocytes and normal chondrocytes on the chondrogenesis of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs) in self designed co-culture system. MethodsRabbit BMSCs and chondrocytes were isolated and expanded in vitro. OA chondrocytes were harvested from the rabbit of established osteoarthritis model. We made a BMSCs-low melting agarose constructs, then put it onto the self-made 6 well plates lattice assembly for co-culture with chondrocytes. The groups were divided into Normal P0-BMSCs, Normal P3-BMSCs, OA PO-BMSCs, OA P3-BMSCs and BMSCs (control) group. At 3, 7, 14 day culture, cultured cells in all groups were collected for real-time PCR, glycosaminoglycan (GAG) content, cytoactive detection, and histological observation. ResultsType Ⅱ collagen gene expression was up-regulated in group Normal PO-BMSCs, which showed 5.1-, 7.2-, 11.2-fold increase over that of control group at 3, 7, 14 days, respectively. Type Ⅰ, Ⅱ collagen and aggrecan gene expressions were not obviously up-regulated. In group OA P3-BMSCs, type Ⅰ collagen gene expression level lower than the control group in 3, 7, 14 day. In normal PO-BMSCs, GAG content showed 2.59-fold increase over that of the control group. GAG content of group OA PO-BMSCs and control group showed no significant differences.Others groups showed significant differences in comparison with the control group(P＜0.05). Alcian stain showed positive in all groups. The normal PO-BMSCs group showed the darkest blue-stained. Conclusion Rabbit normal PO chondrocytes and rabbit OA P0 chondrocytes significantly enhanced chondrogenic differentiation of rabbit BMSCs. The secreted morphogens of the rabbit normal P3 chondrocytes and rabbit OA P3 chondrocytes do not have a significant effect on chondrogenic differentiation of rabbit BMSCs.
