Objective To know the expression of 47 kD protein of orientia tsutsugamushi(Ot) Karp strain and test its immunogenicity and antigenicity. Methods Forty-seven kD protein gene that code the whole mat peptide was amplified from the genomic DNA of Ot.Karp strain by PCR and constructed to a recombinant plasmid pGEX-47.The E. coli cells BL21 were transformed with pGEX-47,then the transformants were induced to express the recombinant 47 kD protein by IPTG. The antigenicity and immunogeni-(city) were identified by Dot Blot method and the experiment of immunizing mice respectively. Results 1. The PCR product of 47 kD protein gene of Ot.Karp strain was obtained and its sequence was the same as the published 47 kD protein gene.2. The E.coli expression plasmid pGEX-47 constructed was identified containing the 47 kD protein gene fragment by restrication analysis and PCR identification, and an expression band about 47 kD was detected by SDS-PAGE of the purified product from GST-fusson protein expressed by pGEX-47. 3.Dot Blot analysis and the experiment of immunizing mice testified its antigenicity and immunogenicity. Conclusions The 47 kD protein gene of Ot Karp strain is amplified that code the whole mat peptide, which can be expressed in prokaryotic cells and the expressed protein has antigenicity and immunogenicity.

Objective To study the mechanisms of Curcumin-induced apoptosis on human gastric cancer cell line SGC-7901.Methods SC,C-7901 cells were treated with various concentrations of Curcumin and the growth inhibition rates of it were accessed by MTT method.Apoptosis of gastric cancer cells were in- spected by flow cytometry. The expression of Fas and survivin in gastric cancer cells were evaluated by west- ern blot. Results Curcumin could effectively inhibit the growth of gastric cancer cells in dose-dependent and time-dependent manners, the sub-peak appeared and the apoptotic rate was increased. The expressions of Fas was higher in Western blot, meanwhile, the expressions of survivin was decreased. Conclusion Curcumin could significantly inhibit the growth and induce apoptosis of gastric cancer cells(SGC-7901),Curcumin could probably through up-regulating Fas and down-regulating surviving to induce apoptosis.

Objective To explore the changed status of the intestinal flora microecology in the model infant rats with irritable bowel syndrome(IBS) by integrative method. Methods To establish 20 infant rats model with IBS.The IBS rats were randomly divided into the treatment group A with bifico and positive control group B,and another 10 infant rats which grew up regularly were taken as negative control group C.The feces smear staining and intestinal flora detection was performed in the 3 groups respectively, meanwhile the dry and wet weight of each group rats feces and the content of water in the feces were compared. Results The intestinal flora imbalance rate of infant rats IBS group(A+B) was 70%,and there was 30% in the control group C,the difference between model group and group C was very significantly(?~2=4.34 P

OBJECTIVETo explore correlation between lung and large intestine and the two meridians under pathological condition in the view of meridian theory.
METHODSNinety-six cases of bronchial asthma were applied palpation at the running course of 12 regular meridians under the elbow and knees and back-shu points. And abnormal reactions were recorded, the affected meridians and back-shu points were discovered.
RESULTSThe abnormal reactions most frequently appeared on the Lung Meridian, followed by the Large Intestine Meridian, the Spleen Meridian, the Liver Meridian, the Stomach Meridian and the Triple Energizer Meridian. And the unusual reaction of the back-shu points most frequently appeared on Feishu (BL 13), and Dachangshu (BL 25) and Pishu (BL 21) followed as the next two.
CONCLUSIONThe existence of correlation between the Lung Meridian and the Large Intestine Meridians under pathological condition can be proved through meridian and acupoint palpation on bronchial asthma patients.

Advance on chemical constituents and pharmacological activities of Stellera plants have been conducted. The chemical constituents include terpenes, coumarins, flavonoids, lignans, volatile oils, and other compounds. Pharmacological studies showed that diterpenoids and biflavones showed strong activities, such as antitumor, anti-HIV, and immune regulations. This review hopes to provide a scientific basis for further research and explorations of the medicinal values of the genus.

Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 1994;0(04):-
Objective To explore the effect of bergamots volatile oil on relieving cough, asthma and eliminating phlegm in asthmatic rats and guinea-pig.Methods Bergamot essential oil was extracted by steam distillation, and the experimental guinea-pigs and mice were divi-ded into 3 groups with high, moderate and low doses of bergamot essential oil respectively(1.080,0.540,0.108 g?kg-1for guinea pig,1.753,0.877,0.175 g?kg-1 for mice). The other group were pre-treated with normal saline as model control group, and animals were fed with acute-brochisis-syrup,aminophylline,and xianzhuli oral-liquid as positive drug control groups. After the medication, the guinea pigs were sprayed with citric acid or histamine in a confined glass to induce cough or asthma, while the latent period of cough or asthma attack was detected. The mice were injected phenol red solution through the abdominal cavity, and the tracheal phenol red secretion volume was measured. Results The latent period of cough in high, moderate and low dose of bergamot volatile oil groups and acute-brochisis-syrup group were significantly longer than that of the model control group(Pa
