Journal of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2015;(5):830-833
Objective To observe the effect of modified Bazhen Decoction ( MBD) on bone marrow fibroblast growth factor-1 ( FGF-1) in chronic aplastic anemia ( CAA) patients. Methods Sixty cases of CAA were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, 30 cases in each group. Both groups were given conventional western medicine such as oral use of Stanozolol and Ciclosporin, and additionally, the treatment group received oral use of MBD. Six months constituted one treatment course for both groups. After treatment, the clinical efficiency in western medicine field and on Chinese medical syndromes was evaluated in both groups. The changes of peripheral hemogram, adverse reaction, and FGF-1 in the bone marrow of both groups were also monitored. Results ( 1) Clinical efficacy in western medicine field was 80.0% in the treatment group, and was 66.7%in the control group (P<0.05). (2) The total effective rate on Chinese medical syndromes was 100.0% in the treatment group, and was 83.3%in the control group (P<0.05). (3) After treatment, the scores of symptoms were decreased in both groups (P<0.05 or P<0.01 compared with those before treatment), and the decrease in the treatment group was superior to that in the control group (P<0.05). (4) Peripheral white blood cell (WBC) count, hemoglobin (HGB) content and platelet (PLT) count as well as bone marrow FGF-1 were increased in both groups after treatment (P<0.01 compared with those before treatment), and the increase of WBC, HGB, PLT and FGF-1 in the treatment group was superior to that in the control group (P<0.05). (5) In the aspect of the adverse reaction, the treatment group had 2 cases of hepatic fucntion injury, and one case of acne and hairiness; the control group had 2 cases of gum hypertrophy, 5 cases of hepatic function injury, and 4 cases of acne and hairiness. The control group had higher incidence of adverse reaction ( P<0.05). Conclusion MBD exerts certain therapeutic effect for CAA, and one of the possible mechanisms is related with the regulation of FGF-1 level.
2.Neurobiological Mechanisms of Two Animal Models of Relapse
Acta Laboratorium Animalis Scientia Sinica 2010;18(1):81-86
Relapse is the reinstatement of drug-seeking and drug-taking behaviors following a period of abstinence. It is one of the main characteristics of drug addiction and is also the major problem requiring immediate action for the treatment of drug addiction. In this review,in order to offer new ideas to eventually treat drug addiction, efforts are made to describe the establishment of two animal models of relapse-the drug self-administration (SA) and extinctionreinstatement procedure, and the drug-conditioned place preference(CPP) and extinction-reactivation procedure. Then attention is given to assess the criterion validity of the animal models of relapse and to explore the neurobiological mechanisms involved in relapse.

Pulse-taking is the most specific diagnostic method of TCM.Its significance has been recognized by ancient and modern doctors. However,at present the application and spread of pulse-taking is limited. In this paper, the author made detailed explorations of literatures and studies the value of pulse condition in guiding syndrome differentiation of liver diseases. The study shows abnormal pulse in left guan and taut pulse in cunkou location both suggest the liver is disordered. We can judge the location of diseases through pulse condition. This exploration shows pulse-taking plays important role in syndrome differentiation. But there is one thing should be paid more attention, pulse condition should be integrated with other symptoms, that will be reliable in guiding diagnosis.

Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics 2006;0(09):-
Cell adhesion molecules(CAMs) play important roles in specifying cell-cell interactions during development, regeneration, and modification of synaptic activity. The close homolog of L1(CHL1) ,a recently identified member of the immunoglobulin superfamily of cell adhesion molecules,is localizably expressed in the nervous system.CHL1 interacts with like molecules(homophilic interaction) and non-like molecules(heterophilic interaction) on neighboring cells or the extracellular matrix to regulate axon outgrowth and fasciculation, neuronal migration and survival, synaptic plasticity and regeneration after trauma.

Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2011;31(6):784-8
This study examined the effects of a combined surgery of sleeve gastrectomy (SG) and modified jejunoileal bypass (JIB) on the body weight, food intake, and the plasma levels of active glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and total ghrelin of rats. Rats were divided into 3 groups in terms of different surgical protocol: SG-JIB (n=12), SG (n=12), JIB (n=12) and sham surgery groups (n=10). In SG-JIB group, rats was subjected to sleeve gastrectomy and end to side anastomosis of part of the jejunum (25 cm from the ligament of Treitz) to the ileum 25 cm proximal to the cecum. The body weight and food intake were evaluated during 10 consecutive weeks postoperatively. The levels of active GLP-1 and total ghrelin in the plasma of the rats were measured by ELISA assay. The results showed that the SG-JIB treated rats relative to SG- or JIB-treated ones produced a sustained reduction in food intake and weight gain. The level of active GLP-1 was elevated and total ghrelin level decreased in SG-JIB-treated rats as compared with SG- or JIB-treated ones. It was concluded that SG-JIB could efficiently reduce the body weight and food intake, alter obesity-related hormone levels of the rats, indicating that SG-JIB may be potentially used for the treatment of obesity.
