AIM: To establish the quality standard for Gubiling Capsules (Penis Et Testis Canis, Radix Noto ginseng, Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae, Herba Epimedii, Radix Aucklandiae, etc.). METHODS: Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae, Herba Epimedii, Radix Aucklandiae were identified by TLC, and the ginsenoside Rg 1 content was determined by HPLC. RESULTS: Ginsenoside Rg 1 showed a good linear relationship in the range of 1.2-6.0 ?g ( r = 1.00 0 ) and average recovery was 96.9%. RSD was 0.4%. CONCLUSION: These methods are simple, accurate and specific and can be used for the quality control for Gubiling Capsules.

Eight 1,6-O,O-diacetylbritannilactone (OABL) derivatives (compounds 1-8) were synthesized by esterification or reduction of 1-O-diacetylbritannilactone (ABL) isolated from Inula japonica.All derivatives were evaluated for their anti-inflammation activities through the determination of inhibition of nitric oxide (NO) production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced macrophages.As results,compounds 5-8 (IC50 ＜ 2 μmol/L) exhibited more potent inhibition of NO production activities than the lead compound OABL.

Objective　To explore the effect of hypoxia on the apoptosis of cultured human umbilical vein endothelial cells（HUVECs） and the role of vascular endothelial growth factor（VEGF） in inhibition of apoptosis． Methods　①Culture and identification of HUVECs．②Establishment of hypoxic model（0，12，24，48 h）in HUVECs．③Incubation of HUVECs with VEGF(0 ng, 100 ng) under hypoxic condition for 24 h. ④Detection of apoptosis of HUVECs with TUNEL method． Results　The percentages of apoptosis were different under different hypoxic conditions． The longer hypoxic time was，the higher apoptosis percentage was．VEGF reduced the apoptosis of HUVECs induced by hepoxia． Conclusion　Over-apoptosis EVCs in one of the important factors for the impairment of endothelial function. HEGF inhibits the apoptosis of HVCs and having a pretive function on them.

Objective: To study the coumarin from the seeds oil leavings of Xanthoceras sorbifolia. Methods: The chemical constituents were isolated and purified by combination of silica gel, macroporous resin, Sephadex LH-20, and ODS column chromatography. Their structures were elucidated by spectral and chemical methods. The cytotoxicity of the new compound against 10 selected human cancer cell lines was assayed. Results: Five comarins were isolated and identified as fraxetin-7-O-β-D-[6’-(3’'‑hydroxyl‑3’’- methylglutaryl)] glucopyranoside (1), fraxoside (2), fraxetin (3), scopoline (4), and esculetin (5), respectively. Conclusion: Compound 1 is a new compound. Unfortunately, this compound exhibited no cytotoxicity with tested cell lines.
