Epmedii Folium is a commonly used traditional Chinese drug, and is beneficial for the "liver" and "kidney" s function in Chinese medicine. Recently, the origin of this drug is more complex. Most of the identification studies are emphasized on the species certified by the pharmacopoeia and other related species from the same genus of Epimedium, but few was emphasized on the counterfeit. In this paper, one counterfeit of Epmedii Folium, identified as the dried leaf of Quercus variabilis (Fam. Fagaceae), has been reported based on field investigation, comparing specimen of Epmedii Folium and Q. variabilis, using the macroscopic, microscopic and TmC methods. It is resulted that they could be identified clearly not only by the macroscopic features, such as the vein character and the tooth apex, but also by the microscopic features, such as the vascular bundles of the midrib, the non-glandular hair, the anticlinal wall of the epidermis cell and the calcium oxalate crystal. Furthermore their TLC chromatograms showed also difference. This study will give reference for the identification of Epmedii Folium and the related supervision and inspection work.

Objective To determine the feasibility and safety of transprostatic utricle seminal vesiculoscopy in the treatment of hemospermia. Methods Totally 11 patients with hemospermia, mean age of (46.6 ± 3.5) years, ranging from 38 to 68 years, for 3 months admitted from September 2012 to August 2015 were enrolled, Their main manifestations were hemospermia. Painful ejaculation was observed in 7 patients, and perineal and testicular pain occured in 4 patients. They all underwent transprostatic utricle seminal vesiculoscopy, and then were followed up for 3 to 6 months. Results Ten patients were operated successfully, but 1 patient failed. The operation revealed that the causes of hemospermia were seminal vesiculitis in 8 cases, seminal vesiculitis accompanied with seminal calculi in 2 cases, and ejaculatory duct cyst in 1 case. Operation time was (29.2 ± 3.2) min ( ranging from 25 to 37 min) , and hospital stay was 2 d ( from 2 to 4 d). Hemospermia disappeared in 10 patients within 1 month of surgery, and hemospermia recurrence was observed in 1 patient within 6 months. The patient was treated with transprostatic utricle Holmium laser incision, then hemospermia was dispeared,Two cases of postoperative epididymitis were cured after one week of antibiotic treatment. Conclusions Seminal vesiculoscopy is a safe and effective to treat hemaospermia.

Aim To make a research of rats with focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury on pathological changes in brain and the changes of AQP4 and related proteins, in order to explore the relationship between AQP4 and brain edema. Methods Adult male SD rats, weighting 250~300 g, were randomly divided in-to Sham group and cerebral ischemia/reperfusion ( I/R) injury model group. The I/R model group was di-vided into the I/R-6 h, 12 h, 24 h, 48 h-four time point groups. The animal model of the right MCA is-chemia/reperfusion was established by suture method in mature SD rats. The nerve symptom score was con-ducted in the corresponding time points. Then, the permeability of brain tissue was detected by EB stai-ning;TTC staining was conducted to observe the cere-bral infarction volume;the dry wet weight method was used to detect the changes of brain water content; im-munohistochemical( IHC) , WB and RT-PCR were ap-plied to detect the expression of AQP4 , and the related factors at different time points of the model rats after is-chemia-reperfusion around infarcts. Results Com-pared with the Sham group, then ever function score of the rats in I/R model groups were much higher. With the increase of the reperfusion time, the cerebral in-farction volume, brain tissue permeability and the brain water content were also increased. IHC results showed that AQP4 expression gradually rose with widen distribution. WB and RT-PCR results verified the in-creasing level of AQP4 expression. The detection of the related proteins expression showed apparent changes. The expression of MMP-9 was increased, while the Oc-cludin and JAM-1 expression showed a decreasing trend. The I/R-48 h model group showed the most ob-vious differences in the expression of the related pro-teins and mRNA ( P <0. 01 vs Sham, respectively ) . Conclusion Accompanied with the aggravating cere-bral injury after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion, the ex-pression of AQP4 and MMP-9 level were activated, while the degradation of TJPs, Occludin and JAM-1, was increased. These factors are combined to make the formation of brain edema. This study makes a further research on the formation mechanism of the early stage for cerebral edema on I/R model and offers a potential for intervention in the filed of looking for a reliable drug therapy on cerebral edema.

Objective To evaluate the automatic synthesis of 18F-labeled cyclic RGD peptide c(RGDyK)and its biological distribution in the tumor-bearing mice. Methods N-succinimidyl-4-18 F-fluorobenzoate (18F-SFB) was automatically synthesized and then re-dissolved in acetonitrile (MeCN). The cyclic RGD peptide c(RGDyK) was mixed with an hydrous DMSO and N, N-diisopropyl ethylamine (DIPEA). 18F-FBRGD was obtained by the reaction of peptide solution with 18 F-SFB. The final product was purified by HPLC gradient separation system and solid-phase extraction method. The biodistribution study and competition test of N-4-18F- fluorobenzoyl-RGD (18F-FB-RGD) in the tumor-bearing mice was performed. Results The labeling yield of 18 F-FB-RGD was (33.6 ± 3.5)%. The synthesis time was 110 min. The radiochemical purity was more than 98%. The tumor uptake of 18F-FB-RGD was (3.43 ±0.15), (2.61 ±0.14), (2.11 ±0.13), and (1.79 ±0.18) %ID/g, respectively, at 30, 60, 90 and 120 min after injection. The ratio of tumor to muscle activity ranged from 4.26 ±0.69 to 5.80 ±0.78. The tumor uptake decreased dramatically after RGD blockage. The uptake was (0.46 ±0.21) %ID/g and (2.87 ±0.59) %ID/g in the blocked and unblocked mice, respectively, at 60 min after blockage. Conclusions 18 F-FB-RGD can be automatically synthesized and it may become a promising tumor imaging agent.

Chinese Medical Journal 2003;116(5):767-771
OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of lactulose on intestinal bacterial overgrowth (IBO), bacterial translocation (BT), intestinal transit and permeability in cirrhotic rats.
METHODSBT in all animals was assessed by bacterial culture of mesenteric lymph node (MLN), liver and spleen, and IBO was assessed by a jejunal bacterial count of the specific organism. Intestinal permeability was determined by the 24-hour urinary (99m)Tc-diethylenetriamine pentaacetatic acid ((99m)Tc-DTPA) excretion, and intestinal transit was determined by measuring the distribution of (51)Cr in the intestine.
RESULTSBT and IBO were found in 48% and 80% of the cirrhotic rats, respectively, while not in the control rats. Cirrhotic rats with IBO had significantly higher levels of intestinal endotoxin higher rates of bacterial translocation, shorter intestinal transit time and higher intestinal permeability than those without IBO. It was also found that BT were closely associated with IBO and injury of the intestinal barrier. Compared with the placebo group, lactulose-treated rats had lower rates of BT and IBO, which were closely associated with increased intestinal transit and improved intestinal permeability by lactulose.
CONCLUSIONSOur study indicate that endotoxin and bacterial translocation in cirrhotic rats may attribute to IBO and increased intestinal permeability. Lactulose that accelerates intestinal transit and improves intestinal permeability might be helpful in preventing intestinal bacterial and endotoxin translocation.
