OBJECTIVE:To analysis outcomes of patients with knee osteoarthritis treated by mini-incision knee replacement accompanied by early rehabilitation. METHODS:Outcomes of 28 knee osteoarthritis patients (46 knees) who were treated by joint replacement from 2005 June to August were retrospectively analyzed. Sixteen patients were served as experimental group, including 4 males and 12 females, aged 59-77 (65.3?5.3) years, and the course of disease was 10-15 (13.4?4.3) years. These patients were received mini-incision knee replacement, accompanied by specified early rehabilitation procedure. Early rehabilitation procedure comprised psychological treatment, training before knee replacement, muscle strength training after knee replacement, and correction of poor gait, joint position sense training and exercise for coordination after knee replacement, early quadriceps femoral muscle active extension knee exercises especially emphasized. Another 12 patients were served as control group, including 5 males and 7 females, aged 60-75 (67.5?4.7) years, with course of disease 8-18 (12.8?4.9) years, they were received normal knee replacement. Pain severity, joint motion ranges and functional situations were evaluated. RESULTS:Twenty-eight patients stayed in hospital for (13.2?2.7) days (ranging from 10 days to 16 days). All the patients were followed up 9 to 12 months. There were no significantly differences in pain severity, joint motion ranges and functional scores on admission between two groups. Pain, joint motion and joint functions were improved greatly after knee replacement. The joint motion ranges and functional scores were higher on discharge and the last follow-up in the experimental group than that of the control group. CONCLUSION:The program that consists of Mini-incision knee replacement, which protected quadricep muscle intactness and diminished surgical injury, accompanied by psychological treatment, preoperational preparation, postoperational training, correction of gait, training in articular position sensation and all the body coordination, can improve the outcomes of the knee osteoarthritis patients with knee replacement.

After 28 foreign species of AM fungi were inoculated in sterilized soil, the effects of the AM mycorrhizal colonization and the medicine quality of Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis were observed by combination of inoculation test in pot at room temperature and instrumental analysis. The results showed that, compared with control group (CK), the inoculation of foreign AM fungi in the soil influenced the spore density, mycorrhizal infection rate, and colonization intensity of AM fungi in root system of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis. The inoculation of foreign AM fungi enhanced the mycorrhiza viability of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis by increasing the activity of succinic dehydrogenase (SDH) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) in intraradical hyphae. The content of single steroid saponin in rhizome of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis showed variation after P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis was inoculated by different foreign species of AM fungi, which was beneficial for increasing the medicine quality; however, the kinds of steroid saponin showed no difference. In a degree, there was a selectivity of symbiosis between P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis and foreign AM fungi. And we found that the Claroideoglomus claroideum and Racocetra coralloidea were best foreign AM fungi species for cultivating P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis under field condition.

OBJECTIVETo identify the correlation of the volume of residual urine (VRU) with the severity of bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) and detrusor contractility in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
METHODSA total of 152 patients with clinically diagnosed BPH underwent ultrasonography for measurement of the prostate volume and RVU, free uroflowmetry, and urodynamic examination for the severity of BOO and detrusor contractility. Using the software SPSS20. 0, we analyzed the correlation between the ultrasonographic results and urodynamic parameters and compared the two sample means by the t-test.
RESULTSThe prostate volume was correlated positively with BOO severity (r = 0.432, P < 0.01) and detrusor contractility (r = 0.343 , P < 0.01) while Qmax negatively with BOO severity (r = 0.327, P < 0.01) but not significantly with detrusor contractility (r = 0.123, P > 0.05). VRU showed a significantly negative correlation with detrusor contractility when > 150 ml (r = -0.490, P < 0.01), even more significantly when > 300 ml (r = -0.717, P < 0.01), but exhibited no significant correlation with it when ≤ 150 ml (r = 0.041, P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONVRU can somehow predict the detrusor function. For patients with VRU > 150 ml, especially for those with VRU > 300 ml, the detrusor function should be evaluated and urodynamic examination is recommended for exact assessment of BOO severity and detrusor contractility.

Objective To explore the relationship between the rs1611115 and rs739398 polymorphism of dopamine-β-hydroxy-lase genes and violent behavior in adolescents .Methods Adolescent male offenders were divided into violent group (107 samples) and nonviolent group (107 samples) .Besides ,107 male adolescents in vocational school were served as normal controls .The rs1611115 and rs739398 polymorphisms of DβH gene were measured by used SNaPshot SNP technology in 321 samples .Chi-square test was used to compare the distribution difference between three groups of each gene type and the allele frequency distribution . Results There was statistically significant difference among violent group ,nonviolent group and normal control group in the geno-type and allele frequencies of DβH gene rs1611115 polymorphism(P<0 .05) ,but there was no statistically significant difference be-tween violent group and nonviolent group(P>0 .05) .There was no statistically significant difference among violent group ,nonvio-lent group and normal control group in the genotype and allele frequencies of rs739398 polymorphism(P>0 .05) .Conclusion No association was found between the rs739398 polymorphism of DβH gene and adolescents with violent behavior .But the rs1611115 polymorphism of DβH gene was related to adolescent criminals with violent and nonviolent behavior .

Objective To investigate the effect of songling xuemaikang(SL-xmk)pretreatment on the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9)after focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion in rats. Methods A total of 45 male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly allocated into SL-xmk pretreatment, sham operation, and normal saline control group.Preventive gavage was per-formed for 8 weeks in rats using SL-xmk(937.50 mg/kg)suspension in the SLxmk pretreatment group(n = 15);the preventive gavage was performed in rats using the equal volume of normal saline in the sham operation(n = 15)and normal saline control(n = 15)groups.At the end of the pretreatment process,a model of middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO)in rats was induced by suture method for 2 hours and reperfusion for 24 hours. The effects of SL-xmk pretreatment on the neurologic deficit scores after transient MCAO,brain water content, and infarct volume in rats were observed.Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the MMP-9 immunoreactive positive cells in ischemic brain tissue. Results The neurologjc deficit scores(1.21 ± 0.25 vs.2.37 ± 0.35,P = 0.000),the brain water content (76.24% ± 7.09% vs.88.78% ± 6.57%,P = 0.000),the percentage of infarct volume (22.62% ±2.17% vs.27.84% ±3.43%,P =0.000),and the numbers of MMP-9 positive cells(16.20 ± 2.17/mm vs.20.60 ± 2.71/mm,P = 0.000)were all significantly lower than those in the control group. Conclusions SL-xmk pretreatment may significantly inhibit the expression of MMP-9 in the brain tissue of focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion rats and reduce brain water content and infarct volume.
