5.Residual Stones of Biliary Duct & Its Prevention
Journal of Third Military Medical University 1983;0(04):-
A total of 1,867 patients were admitted or readmitted to this department in the period from January 1976 to November 1982 and 1,081 of them underwent certain biliary surgery for the treatment of biliary lithiasis. The operations of 702 cases out of the 1,081 were performed on the biliary duct, either exlrahepatic or intrahepatic. In 333 cases out of the 702 who received extrahspatic biliary surgery, 20 cases were found to have postoperative residual biliary stones (6%); while in 369 cases out of the 702 who underwent intrahepatic biliary operations, 136 cases were found to have residual stones (36.85%). Altogether 156 cases out of the 702 operated cases suffered from postoperative residual biliary stones and the overall incidence was 22%.The predisposing, causes of the occurrence of residual stones were discussed-In order to prevent or reduce the occurrence of residual stones, the key, as suggested by the authors, is to perform every emergency or selected operation very carefully without leaving any hidden trouble.
6.Effects of Branched-Chain Amino Acid Supplementation on Blood Glucose,Alanine and Lactate of Rowers after Different Loads of Exercise
Chinese Journal of Sports Medicine 1982;0(02):-
Objective This study was to investigate the effects of branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) supplementation on the metabolism of glucose and gluconeogenesis. Methods 20 rowers were randomly assigned to supplemental group and control group. During 4 weeks of training, all athletes followed the same training program. After 4 weeks, tests were done on a rowing ergometer, which included an incremental test for 4 mmol/L lactate anaerobic threshold and 2km, 5km maximum intensity exercise. Blood samples were taken prior to, immediately post and 30min post exercise. Results The results showed that serum glucose, alanine values had no significant difference between BCAA group and control group in anaerobic threshold test. In 2km and 5km rowing ergometer exercise, serum glucose values in BCAA group were significant decreased immediately post exercise, but the values in control group were significant decreased both immediately post exercise and 30min post exercise. Serum alanine values in BCAA group were significant increased both immediately post exercise and 30min post exercise, but the values in control group were significant decreased immediately post exercise. Lactate concentrations increased in BCAA supplementation group and were significantly lower (P

9.Expression of Gpnmb in the acute ischemia-reperfusion injury and the relationship between Gpnmb and macrophage phenotypes
Chinese Journal of Nephrology 2013;29(7):509-514
Objective To observe the expression of glycoprotein non-metastatic melanoma protein B (Gpnmb) in the kidney and urine after ischemic-reperfusion injury (IRI),and explore the relationship between Gpnmb and macrophage phenotypes in the IRI kidney. Methods Male C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into control group (n =4),sham group (n =4) and IRI group (n =12).Both renal pedieles of mice in IRI group were identified and occluded with microvascular clamps for 30 min.Renal pathological injury was observed by PAS staining. The expression of Gpnmb was examined by real-time PCR and immunofluoresence staining. The location of Gpnmb was observed by flow cytometry and double immunofluoresence staining with F4/80.The mRNA expressions of Gpnmb,CD40,CRR7,CD163 and MMR were examined by real-time PCR.The expression of Gpnmb in the urine was examined by Western blotting and ELISA.Results PAS-stained IRI kidney section showed desquamative epithelia, necrosis debris and a large number of inflammatory cell infiltration.Real-time PCR results showed that there was little expression of Gpnmb in the kidney of control group and sham group. However, the Gpnmb mRNA level in IRI kidneys was highly up-regulated at day 1 and day 2 (both P < 0.01) and followed by a decrease that was similar to the control level at day 3.Double immunofluoresence staining of kidney sections from IRI mice revealed that Gpnmb was predominantly detected in F4/80 positive macrophages. The mRNA expression of Gpnmb was not correlated with M1 macrophage phenotypes CD40 and CCR7,but positively correlated with M2 macrophages phenotypes CD163 and MMR.Western blotting and ELISA result showed that there was significant increase of Gpnmb expression in the urine from IRI mice compared to those of the control group and the sham group (P < 0.01).Conclusions Gpnmb expression is up-regulated in IRI kidney and is associated to M2 macrophages. It may play a role in the process of acute kidney injury.Gpnmb expression is also increased in urine after IR injury and it may be a new biomarker to diagnose AKI.
