International Eye Science 2017;17(4):713-715
AIM:To investigate the curative effect of surgical resection combined with 100% concentration of autologous serum eye drops in the treatment of pterygium.
METHODS: Totally 120 cases of 120 eyes with pterygium from March 2015 to March 2016 in Zhongxiang People's Hospital were randomly divided into the control group and the experimental group. All patients were treated with tobramycin and dexamethasone ophthalmic ointment bandaged eyes postoperatively, and the next day tobramycin and dexamethasone eye drop were used, 2 drops, 6 times per day. The control group was treated with polyvinyl alcohol eye drops, 2 drops, 6 times per day, but the test group were treated with autologous blood concentration of 100% concentration of autologous serum eye drops, 2 drops, 6 times per day. The two groups were treated for 3wk. The curative effect was evaluated after operation of 3mo.
RESULTS: The preoperative general condition, ocular symptoms and signs score and Schirmer test of the two groups was no significant different(P>0.05). But there were significant differences of the two groups on ocular symptoms and signs score, corneal epithelium and/or matrix defect area and repair time, Schirmer test after the operation(P<0.05). In control group, the recurrence rate was 6.7%. And the experimental group were 3.3%. There was significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05).
CONCLUSION:The application of 100% concentration of autologous serum eyedrops after pterygium resection combined with autologous limbal stem cell transplantation of conjunctival flap was better for wound healing and ocular surface reconstruction postoperatively, and it achieved good curative effect.

Objective The risk for coronary artery bypass surgery is reported to be increased with age and associated with diabetes. We examined the outcomes of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in patients with diabetes who were older than 70 years of age and evaluate the effect of diabetes on CABG in those patients. Methods From March 2000 to March 2008, the data of 649 patients older than 70 years of age were collected retrospectively and divided into diabetic group or non-diabetic group based on pre-operative diagnosis. The blood glucose level of patients was maintained between 7.0 mmol/L ( 126mg/dl) and 10.0 mmoL/L ( 180 mg/dl) porioporatively. Stats 7.0 was used for statistical analysis. The t test and χ~2 test were used to determine the differences in the numerical variables and categorical variables respectively. Results No statistical differences were observed between the two groups in the baseline variables, such as age [ ( 74.78±3.67 ) years for diabetic group vs. ( 75.00±3.65 ) years for non-diabetic group, P = 0. 4877 ], female patients ( 34.76% vs. 29.22%, P =0. 1663 ), ejection fraction [ ( 57.02±10. 10 ) % vs. ( 58.49±10. 39 ) %, P = 0. 1004 ) ], myocardial infarction history (26.20% vs. 28.35%, P =0. 5795), though there were more left main diseases in the diabetic group (52.41% vs.26.41%, diabetic vs. non-diabetic, P = 0. 0000 ). The overall in-hospital mortality was 6.32% (8.02% in the diabetic group vs. 5.63% in the non-diabetic group, P = 0. 2571 ). The main causes of death were sudden respiratory and cardiac arrest, low cardiac output syndrome ( LCOS), malignant arrhythmia, respiratory failure, renal failure, central nervous system compli-cations, and multiple organ failure. Major post-operative complications were bleeding, atrial fibrillation, plural effusion and pulmonary infection. Post-operative variables, such as EF (0.59±0. 13 in the diabetic group vs. 0. 61±0.15 in the non-dia-betie group, P =0. 1807), re-revascularization due to bleeding (2. 14% vs. 4.76%, P = 0. 1232), blood transfusion (89.84% vs. 84.63%, P = 0.0820) and the administration of vasoactive agent (21.93% vs. 27.71%, P= 0. 1286),were found no significant difference between the two groups. Conclusion Conclusions The early outcomes of CABG in aged patients are acceptable. The surgical consequences in diabetic patients may be similar to those in non-diabetic patients.

Objective To evaluate the therapeutical effect of dopaminergic neurons induced by transplantation on Parkinson's disease (PD) rats. Methods Mesencephalic nerve stem cells (NSCs) were induced by striatal extracts to differentiate into tyroxine hydroxylase (TH) positive dopaminergic neurons. The differentiated cells were transplanted into the striatum of PD rats. The survived cells were detected by TH immunocytochemical staining. The therapeutical effect was observed using apomorphine induced rotation. Results Mesencephalic NSCs could be induced to differentiate into dopaminergic neurons which could survive in the host for long time after cell transplantation, and could improve the apomorphine induced rotation. Conclusion The induced mesencephalic NSCs have the obvious therapeutical effect on PD.

Objective To discuss the clinical value of interventional management before surgical therapy for massive gastrointestinal hemorrhage, and to compare the clinical efficacy and re-bleeding rate between hypophysin infusion group and embolization group. Methods During the period of June 1998-Apr.2009, 31 patients with massive gastrointestinal hemorrhage in our institution underwent preoperative interventional managements before they received surgical treatment. According to DSA manifestations, the patients underwent trunsarterial hypophysin infusion or transcatheter embolization as interventional management. The clinical efficacy of interventional procedures and its influence on the surgery were evaluated, and the hemostasis rate and re-bleeding rate were compared the two kind of intervention managements. The numeration data were analyzed with Fisher's exact test, and the SPSS 11.0 was used as statistical software. Results The interventional managements were successfully performed in all the 31patients, with a total hemostasis rate of 83.9% (26/31) and a total re-bleeding rate 30.7% (8/26). The hemostasis rate and re-bleeding rate of hypephysin infusion group and embolization group were 69.2% (9/13), 94.4% (17/18) and 44.4% (4/9), 23.7% (4/17), respectively. All the 31 patients received surgery after interventional therapy, of which selective operation was carried out in 20. Neither surgery-related or intervention-related serious complications nor death occurred. Conclusion Preoperative interventional managements can provide patients with massive gastrointestinal hemorrhage with valuable chance of a successful surgery, enable the physician to take a selective operation to replace an emergency one, as a result, the surgical risk will be greatly reduced. Therefore, it is worth popularizing the preoperative interventional managements in clinical practice.

Journal of Southern Medical University 2013;33(7):1093-1096
OBJECTIVETo investigate the mechanism of drug-induced torsade de pointes (Tdp) in dogs.
METHODSIn arterially perfused canine left ventricular wedge preparations, the action potential duration (APD) of the endocardial (Endo), midmyocardial (M) and epicardial (Epi) myocytes, and transmural electrocardiogram (ECG) were recorded simultaneously. The effects of different concentrations of D-Sotalol on APD, transmural dispersion of repolarization (TDR), early after depolarization (EAD) and Tdp were observed.
RESULTSD-Sotalol prolonged APD of the Endo, M and Epi cells in a concentration-dependent manner from 0-100 µmol/L, and increased TDR due to a preferential APD prolongation of the M cells relative to Epi and Endo cells. The application of D-Sotalol elicited EAD, R on T ventricular premature beats, transmural reentry and Tdp in the M cells.
CONCLUSIONEAD and R on T ventricular premature beats induced by D-Sotalol in M cells triggers Tdp, which is maintained by TDR increment and transmural reentry.
