Objective To investigate the psychological factors in the spasmodic torticollis (ST) patients and find the possible relationship between mental disorder and the pathogenesis of spasmodic torticollis. Methods All the 21 ST patients admitted were asked to complete the SCL-90. The result was compared with the norm of Chinese. Results Somatization (1.67 ±0.59) scores, anxiety (1.95 ±0.74) scores, phobic (1.63 ±0.59) scores and psychotic (1.56 ±0.60) scores in ST patients, they were higher significantly than the norm of Chinese [ ( 1.37 ± 0.48 ), ( 1.39 ± 0.43 ), ( 1.23 ± 0.41 ), ( 1.29 ± 0.42) scores](P ＜0.05). No significant differences were found the other factors between the ST patients and norm of Chinese. Conclusion Somatization,anxiety,phobic and psychotic are correlated with ST,they may likely contribute to the pathogenesis of ST.

Objective To investigate the effects of laser irradiation on intracellular ROS(reactive oxidant species),intracellular calcium concentration(_i,and cell membrane integrity in the process of live cell imaging with confocal laser scanning microscopy. Methods The effects of a given laser irradiation on ROS,intracellular calcium concentration(_i and cell viability were revealed respectively by stained ECV-304 with H_2DCFDA,Fluo-4AM and calcein-AM/PI,and visualized and analyzed using ultra view LCI(live cell image)confocal microscopy. Results The irradiation of 488nm laser induced fluorescent intensity of DCF to increase abruptly and attain the climax in about 80 seconds,afterwards the fluorescent intensity fell and returned to the baseline.In the 70 minutes of the irradiation,the fluorescent intensity of intracellular Fluo-4 kept a slightly ascending tendency.The fluorescent intensity of calcein decreased 15minutes after the irradiation,and serval cells were PI positively stained.Conclusion 488nm laser irradiation induces intracellular reactive oxidant species(ROS) and calcium concentration to increase,but there is no significant influence on cell membrane integrity.

Objective To investigate oxidative damage effect of the serum of severe preeclamptic patients on human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC).Methods (1) HUVEC were randomly divided into 4 groups according to the following:blank group as control,normal group added 20％ normal sera of pregnant women,group PE added 20％ sera of severe preeclamptic patients,and group PE + Cat added 20％ sera of severe preeclamptic patients plus 3 x 103 U/ml catalase.After cultured for 24 hours,the injury morphology and APO2.7 expression of HUVEC were detected by transmission electron microscopy and flow cytometry respectively.(2) Under the real-time scanning by laser scanning confocal microscopy,HUVEC were randomly divided into 4 groups according to the following:control group added 100 μmol/L H2O2 as positive control,normal group,group PE,and group PE + Cat.HUVEC of each group was scanned for 120 seconds to determine levels of reactive oxidative species (ROS),calcium homeostasis,and mitochondria membrane potential.Results (1) Obvious injury morphology of HUVEC was observed in group PE,and it was obviously improved by catalase in group PE + Cat.Percentage of HUVEC expressed APO2.7 was (37.8 ± 1.1) ％ in group PE,which was significantly higher than (13.4 ± 1.1) ％ in blank group or (13.5 ± 1.5) ％ in normal group,but significantly lower than (19.2 ± 1.6) ％ in group PE + Cat (all P ＜ 0.01).(2) The fluorescence intensity curves of intracellular ROS and calcium showed slowly rising in group PE,but no obvious changes in normal group and PE + Cat.The values of ROS and calcium in group PE (12.0±1.3,4.1 ±0.7) were higher than those in normal group (1.1 ±0.4,0.6 ±0.4),but lower than those in group PE + Cat (1.5 ± 0.5,0.9 ± 0.5 ; all P ＜ 0.01).Conclusion The serum of severe preeclamptic patients caused oxidative damage on HUVEC by increasing intracellular ROS generation,calcium overload,and decreasing mitochondrial membrane potential.

Objective To detect systematic oxidative stress in preeclampsia.Methods (1)Morphological features of placenta hypoxia were observed by histological method ; (2) Level of granulocyte intracellular reactive oxygen species was monitored by dyeing full blood with 2' ,7'-dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate (H2DCFDA) ; (3) Level of H_2O_2 in sera was detected by special kits.Results Compared to normal pregnancy,placentas from preeclampsia showed distinct features of hypoxic stress injury,such as more syncytial knots formation,fibrosis emerged,vein in-jury and loss its normal configuration; Fluorescence values of ROS probe in neutrophils from different women were 45.61±12.20(n =49),51.02 ± 13.60(n =56,P <0.01)and 85.10 ± 16.30(n =47,P <0.01); Concentra-tions of H_2O_2were (24.57±5.17)μmol/L(n =49),(26.61±3.25)μmol/L(n =56,P 0.01) and (39.84±9.67)μmol/L(n=47,P<0.01) respectively.Conclusion With the help of histological method,flow cytometry and special kits,systematic oxidative stress can be detected through checking placentic tissues,netrophils and sera of preeclampsia.

AIM: To study the effect of VEGF on extracellular H2O2 production in HUVECs and the role of H2O2 in the VEGF-induced proliferation. METHODS: HUVECs was stimulated with 500 ?g/L VEGF. Products of extracellular H2O2 was detected by H2DCFDA staining. MTT method was used to value the influences of 3?106 U/L catalase and 5-20 mmol/L H2O2 to VEGF function. RESULTS: After treatment for 15 min with VEGF, HUVECs appeared fluorescence, and continued to become stronger, peaked at 45 min then decreased. HUVECs, which was treated simultaneity with VEGF and 3?106 U/L catalase, only appeared very faint fluorescence. The proliferation of HUVECs by VEGF was restrained when treated with 3?106 U/L catalase. The extrinsic H2O2 at concentration of 5-10 mmol/L promoted the proliferation of HUVECs but inhibited the proliferation effect of VEGF on HUVECs (P

Background:Acute gastroenteritis is the second largest public health problem in the world. Rotavirus(RV)is one of the pathogens of acute gastroenteritis in adults,researches focusing on RV infection may provide the basis for prevention and control of the disease. Aims:To determine the epidemiological characteristics of RV infection in adults with acute gastroenteritis in Shanghai,China. Methods:From Jun. 2010 to Dec. 2013,stool samples and clinical data in adults with acute gastroenteritis in a designated hospital in Shanghai Changning District were collected. ELISA and PCR were used to detect RV infection and its genotypes. Results:A total of 1 554 eligible stool samples from acute gastroenteritis patients were recruited,of them 691 were males and 863 were females,the mean age was(46. 19 ± 15. 59)years old. RV was detected in 189 patients with a detection rate of 12. 2% ,163(10. 5% )were categorized as group A RV and 26(1. 7% ) were group B/ C RV;the most common genotypes in group A RV were G9(30. 1% )and G1(25. 2% ). Watery stool and vomiting were more prevalent in RV-positive patients than in RV-negative patients(P < 0. 05). The detection rates in years 2010,2011,2012 and 2013 were 12. 2% ,14. 9% ,6. 8% and 16. 3% ,respectively. When analyzed by age group,the detection rate was significantly lower in 18-39 years group than those in 40-59,60-79,and ≥80 years groups(8. 7% vs. 14. 8% ,14. 2% ,and 17. 1% ,P < 0. 05). The peak of epidemic was from Nov. to next Feb. Conclusions:RV infection in adults with acute gastroenteritis is more popular in middle aged and elderly people and shows a winter seasonality in Shanghai,China. The most common genotypes of group A RV are G9 and G1.

Objective To investigate the epidemiology of adults acute viral gastroenteritis in Shanghai Changning district. Methods All of 1 554 stool specimens of adults acute gastroenteritis in Shanghai Changning district from June 2010 to December 2013, and the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and multiple polymerase chain reaction was used to detecte different viruses. Results In all of 1 554 cases, the average age was (46.19 ± 15.59) years. Among them, 691 persons were male, 863 persons were female. Virus infection was detected in 407 cases, and the detection rate was 26.19%. Among them, 395 cases (97.05%) were single virus infection, and 12 cases (2.95%) were mixed infection. The peak of epidemic was from every November to next February. The incidence of watery diarrhea, vomiting and fever in virus positive group was significantly higher than that in virus negative group:95.09%(387/407) vs. 88.14%(1 011/1 147), 31.20%(127/407) vs. 18.83%(216/1 147), and 11.06%(45/407) vs. 7.59%(87/1147), P<0.01 or<0.05. Conclusions Rotavirus infection is common in adults with acute viral gastroenteritis. Patients with positive virus infection had a higher incidence of watery diarrhea, vomiting and fever. The peak of epidemic is winter.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the mechanism and effect of diallyl disulfide (DADS) on the bystander effect of herpes simplex virus kinase/ganciclovir (HSV-tk/GCV) suicide gene therapy system which was mediated by recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) in lens epithelial cells. METHODS: Immunohistochemistry method was used to determine the distribution of connexin 43 (Cx43) protein in cultured rabbit lens epithelial cells and rabbit lens epithelial cells transfected by HSV-tk suicide gene. Cx43 protein was measured and analyzed in cultured rabbit lens epithelial cells and rabbit lens epithelial cells transfected by HSV-tk suicide gene that was induced by various DADS. Cell survival was determined by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide method. RESULTS: DADS increased the Cx43 protein expression in cultured rabbit lens epithelial cells and rabbit lens epithelial cells transfected by HSV-tk suicide gene, and especially in 50 μmol/L DADS. After combining with DADS, the bystander effect was significantly improved (P<0.05). CONCLUSION DADS can elevate the expression of Cx43 protein and enhance the bystander effect of HSV-tk/GCV suicide gene therapy system.

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics of chronic invasive fungal rhinosinusitis.Methods Clinical features and outcomes of 46 proven cases of chronic invasive fungal rhinosinusitis admitted in Huashan Hospital,Fudan University from January 2009 to December 2016 were retrospectively reviewed.Results Of the 46 patients enrolled,left sphenoid sinus,ethmoid sinus and maxillary sinus were affected in 24,23 and 20 cases,respectively,while right maxillary sinus,ethmoid sinus and sphenoid sinus were affected in 18,16 and 15 eases,respectively.Left and right frontal sinus were affected in 9 and 6 cases,respectively.The central nervous system and orbit were the most commonly affected sites in external nasal involvements,noted in 22 cases respectively.Left sphenoid (17 cases) and ethmoid sinus (15 cases) involvements were most common in central nervous system affected patients.Left sphenoid (14 cases) and ethmoid sinus (13 cases) involvements were most common in orbit affected patients.Aspergillus species were the primary pathogens observed in 42 eases.Zygomycete,candida and dark filamentous fungus were observed in two,one and one case,respectively.Pathologically,37 of the cases were chronic nongranulomatous type and the left 9 were chronic granulomatous type who were all immunocompetent hosts.The initial symptoms usually included headache,dizziness and nasal discomforts including nasal obstruction and purulent secretion.The chief complaints usually included headache,dizziness,and visual disturbances including blurred vision,vision loss or even blindness.Antifungal treatment combined with surgical interventions for removal or drainage focus lesions achieved significant effect,and 42 patients were cured.Conclusions Chronic invasive fungal rhinosinusitis should be taken into consideration in the presence of nasal discomforts or nonspecific symptoms such as headache and dizziness.The possibility of chronic invasive fungal rhinosinusitis should be cautious after the emergence of vision abnormalities.

Objective:To evaluate the clinical effect of anterior clinoid process grinding in the treatment of ophthalmic / superior clinoid process aneurysms and sellar tumors.Methods:The clinical data of 16 patients who underwent anterior clinoid process grinding in Sanbo Brain Hospital, Capital Medical University from January 2015 to July 2021 were analyzed retrospectively. There were 1 patient with recurrent craniopharyngioma, 1 patient with recurrent pituitary adenoma, 13 patients with aneurysms, and 1 patient with suprasellar granulosa cell tumor combined with ophthalmic aneurysm of right internal carotid artery. The Modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score was used to evaluate the situation at discharge and in the medium-and-long term.Results:Sixteen patients underwent anterior clinoidprocess grinding. At discharge and the latest follow-up, the mRS scores of the patients were 0-2. A total of 15 aneurysms were treated, and there were no symptoms of visual loss or visual field defect after operation. No cerebrospinal fluid leakage occurred in all patients.Conclusions:The grinding of anterior clinoid process can effectively and fully stretch the optic nerve and internal carotid artery, and can observe the tumor neck at the lower end of pituitary stalk and the ocular segment/superior clinoid process of internal carotid artery under direct vision. It is one of the important auxiliary methods for the treatment of sellar lesions.
