Objective To find a solution to the long-term storage of enormous amount of imaging data in hospital picture archiving communication system (PACS). Methods Medical imaging data collected by devices of Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine-3 (DICOM3) and non-DICOM3 were transformed into the storage format, metadata instance, and expression pattern of digital images standardized by DICOM3. Based on the requirements of data utilization and storage system and the optimal principle of function and value, the reasonable flow of imaging data in PACS network were scientifically allocated by application of on-line, near-line, and off-line storage patterns and by reasonable allocation of the volume and clusters of storage devices. Results The PACS storage system established by our method, characterized by super capacity of error tolerance, permanent unrestricted storage, quick in retrieval, and quick, convenient and reliable in storage and reading, could meet the requirements of long-term storage and management of enormous amount of medical imaging data. Conclusion Grading storage is the effective method for long-term storage of enormous amount of medical imaging data in PACS.

Objective To investigate the distribution and to analyze the immunological mechanism of HBV-infected serum-type in Kunming City,China. Methods We studied all the 98462 tests of the "HbsAg,anti-HBs,HbeAg,anti-Hbe,anti-HBc" in our lab since 2000,from which we selected 426 samples that contain all kinds of serum-types of the HBV infection and 50 health samples as a control group. The HBV-DNA levels of the 426 samples were detected by real-time quantitative PCR,and the activity of ALT and AST were also detected at the same time. Results Among the 98462 samples,we found 12 kinds of HBV-infected serum-types in all,4 of which were recently found and infrequent in Kunming City(the proportions were lower than the others,P

The basic principles of piezoelectric quartz crystal immunosensor are reviewed. Its characteristics and applications in biomedicine are summarized. The feasibility of its application in detecting cardiac troponin I (cTnI) is briefly analyzed. There's no need of any signs and segregation steps in the technique, so the instrument is simple and easily-operated. Besides, it has a bright application future for its merits of rapid detection and precise quantification.

Chinese Medical Equipment Journal 1993;0(06):-
Nano-materials are immensely applied in piezoelectric, electrochemical, optical, magnetic biosensors based on clearly unique nature of it. The important role of nano-materials in biosensors is expounded and the latest application of novel functional nano -materials in biosensor is introduced emphatically, such as nanoparticles, nanotubes, nanowires, quantum dots and nanofibers. The researches make clear that nano-materials can provide momentous value in enhancing performance of biosensors, such as sensitivity, detection range, and repetitiveness of biosensors, as immobilization materials or carriers.

Objective To observe the brain regions activated during calculation in patients with left temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) and in normal subjects. Methods Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) was applied.Sixteen right-handed persons with left TLE were selected as the left TLE group, and sixteen healthy volunteers were recruited as a control group. The fMRI data was collected as each subject performed simple additions, subtractions and abdication subtractions.Statistical parametric mapping was used to compare the activated brain regions between the two groups. Results The error rate in the calculations was significantly higher in the left TLE group, and their average reaction time was significantly longer. There were aslo significant differences between the two groups in terms of brain activation patterns.Compared with the control group, the left TLE group exhibited hypo-activity in regions such as the left paracentral lobule, the posterior central gyrus, the bilateral inferior parietal lobule, the left angular gyrus, the bilateral supramarginal gyrus, the left middle frontal gyrus, the left superior gyrus, and also in the bilateral posterior cingulate, insular lobule, superior and inferior temporal gyrus, right hippocampus, parahippocampal gyrus, thalamus and cerebellum. The TLE subjects exhibited hyper-activity in the bilateral superior parietal lobule, the bilateral anterior cingulate,as well as in the right, middle and inferior frontal gyrus. Conclusion Our results support a significant functional reorganization of calculation-related neuronal networks within and between the hemispheres in TLE patients. The frontal and parietal lobes may play a compensatory role in the reorganization of the calculation function.Task-related fMRI technology can provide useful information for non-invasive assessment of mathematical computing and cognitive function in TLE patients.

Journal of Third Military Medical University 1983;0(03):-
Objective To study the apoptosis-inducing effects and mechanisms of influenza virus A H_ 3 N_ 2 on a self-established endometrial adenocarcinoma cell line JEC. Methods JEC cells were infected with different concentrations of H_3N_2, the apoptosis were detected using the HE staining, DNA agarose gel electrophoresis and flow cytometry. The expressions of Fas, FasL and TGF-? were examined by immunocytochemical staining. Results After infection, the JEC cells showed the morphological apoptosis; DNA agarose electrophoresis demonstrated a ladder-like pattern of DNA fragments; FITC/PI stained FCM showed the apoptotic rate of JEC had been decreased along with the prolonging of infected time and elevated with the increase of the virus concentrations. Immunocytochemical staining showed that enhanced expression of Fas, attenuated expression of TGF-?, and no expression of FasL after H_3N_2 infection. Conclusion Influenza virus A H_3N_2 can induce JEC cells to apoptosis in time- and concentration- dependent manners, which may be related with the expressions of Fas and TGF-?.

OBJECTIVE:To observe the changes of heart type fatty binding protein (H-FABP) and brain natriuretic peptide (BNP)when carvedilol and bisoprolol in the treatment of elderly patients with chronic heart failure(CHF). METHODS:110 CHF patients were randomly assigned into carvedilol group and bisoprolol group (n=55). Carvedilol group was given carvedilol 3.125 mg,bid, doubling dose every 2 weeks to reach target dose 25mg or maximum tolerant dose;bisoprolol group was given bisoprolol 1.25 mg,qd,doubling dose every 2 weeks to reach target dose 10 mg or maximum tolerant dose. Treatment course lasted for 6 months. Clinical effective rate of 2 groups were observed after treatment. Echocardiography was used to measure the changes of LVEDD,LVEF,SBP and DBP before and after treatment. The plasma concentration of BNP and H-FABP were measured by radio-immunoassay. RESULTS:After treatment, total effective rate of carvedilol group(96.4%)was higher than that of bisoprolol group (89.2%),with statistical significance(P<0.05). Compared with before treatment, the levels of LVEDD,LVEF,BNP,H-FABP, SBP and DBP in 2 groups were all decreased significantly after treatment, with statistical significance (P<0.01 or P<0.05). CON-CLUSIONS:Both carvedilol and bisoprolol can significantly improve cardiac function, but carvedilol efficacy is more significant. At the same time, significant decrease of H-FABP before and after treatment indicate that H-FABP can be used as a reliable index of heart failure treatment effect.
