1.Mechanisms of salicylates for ulcerative colitis
Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1998;0(S1):-
SASP, 5-ASA, 4ASA are effectivedrugs for ulcerative colitis. They contain the same structure, but their action modes are different. The precise mechanism of salicylates are unclear. SASP,5-ASA inhibit inflammatory mediators, but 4ASA has no effect on PG or LT. 5-ASA has a strong force to scavenge the reactive oxygen metabolites. 4-ASA is weak in this aspect. The salicylates influence the function of several cy-tokines at different degree, such as IL-1, IL-6, IL-2, INF-a, TNF-r, GM-CSF, etc, probably bypreventing the binding of cytokine and receptor, or decreasing some cytokine synthesis and liberation. SASP inhibits neutrophilial cell degrandulation, releases lysosome and other enzymes, and changes the activity of lymphacyte. The salicylates also effect nitric oxide synthesis, adhesion molecules and the intestine permeability.

Abstract
Spinal curvatures has emerged as the third major chronic condition seriously threatening the physical and mental health of Chinese children and adolescents, with significant regional differences. Its etiology is complex and diverse, and early prevention and treatment are feasible, whereas treatment in later stages entails considerable difficulty and economic burden. Currently, the prevention and control of student spinal curvatures has been elevated to a national health strategy. A series of policy documents have been successively issued, and it has greatly facilitated the institutionalization and normalization of national routine screening for student spinal curvatures. However, it is still inadequate considering current prevention and control system for spinal curvatures in children and adolescents. There is an urgent need to establish a closed loop model based on China s institutional advantages, comprising Initial Screening-Diagnosis-Treatment-Preventive Control-Followup Assessment, to strengthen the safeguarding of spinal health in children and adolescents.

7.Current status of regional school health work in Tianjin during 2019-2023
Chinese Journal of School Health 2024;45(5):620-625
Objective:
To explore the current status and progress of regional school health work to provide policy reference for school health improvement.
Methods:
Survey data on school health work in Tianjin from 2019, 2021 and 2023 was used. School health staff allocation and expenditure of the health administrative department, CDC and education department, as well as the annual implementation of health education, prevention and control of common diseases and infectious diseases, sports activities and food nutrition in primary and secondary schools were analyzed. Statistical analysis was conducted using KruskalWallis test, Chisquare test, and Fishers exact test.
Results:
The number of school health staff in the health commissions and education departments from 2019, 2021 and 2023 was relatively stable. Parttime staffs were often employed by health commissions while fulltime staffs were mainly employed by education departments. The number of school health staff at CDCs increased gradually (H=12.65, P<0.01). School health expenditure of administrative departments and schools in 2021 and 2023 increased significantly compared with that in 2019 (H=22.28, 23.75, P<0.05). More than 95% of schools set up clinics or health care rooms, and about 97% of schools had school health technicians or health teachers. More than 90% of schools had health education courses over 4 hours per semester. The rate of mental health education increased by year (86.87%, 89.91%, 96.30%, Z=2.40,P<0.05). Lack of courses regarded safety emergency and risk avoidance, growth and development, and adolescent health education. The provision rate of psychological counseling services (89.00%, 97.25%, 100.00%) and psychological problem prevention and control (56.12%, 71.56%, 81.48%) also increased by year (Z=3.83, 3.96, P<0.01). The implementation rates of prevention and control of poor vision, dental caries, overweight and obesity were all higher than 80%, and the prevention and control rate of abnormal spinal curvature showed an increasing trend (38.78%, 77.06%, 72.22%, Z=4.87, P<0.01). More than 90% of schools met the standard for physical education class hours, and the proportion of schools conducting at least 30 minutes of recess physical activities every day increased year by year (65.00%, 80.73%, 85.98%, Z=3.59, P<0.01). All schools did not have shops.
Conclusions
School health work in Tianjin is effective and constantly developing. It is necessary to continue to increase the investment of human resources and expenditure in school health, explore the approaches of cooccurrence and prevention of common diseases, and improve the school sports and nutrition environment.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2024;45(10):1505-1510
Objective:
To investigate the tendency of obesity and depressive symptoms in middle school students in Tianjin, so as to provide a reference for exploring the clustering patterns of health risk behaviors and their effects on obesity and depressive symptoms.
Methods:
A stratified cluster sampling method was used to investigate the obesity, depressive symptoms and health risk behaviors of middle school students from 16 counties of Tianjin from 2019 to 2023. The latent classes analysis was used to classify health risk behaviors. The χ 2 test and Logistic regression were used to analyze the effects of different categories on obesity and depression symptoms.
Results:
The obesity detection rate of middle school students in Tianjin from 2019 to 2023 first increased ( 20.90% in 2019, 23.35% in 2020) and then decreased and gradually stabilized (2021-2023:22.20%-22.69%), and the detection rate of depressive symptoms showed a decreasing trend (from 21.65% to 14.92%). The detection rate of comorbidity of obesity and depressive symptoms first increased (4.62% in 2019, 4.66% in 2020) and then gradually decreased to 3.43% in 2023, and the rate was higher in boys than in girls and higher in urban areas than in suburban areas. Latent category analysis classified health risk behaviors into four categories: lack of exercise group, poor behaviors such as sleep group, poor diet group and healthy group. After adjusting for demographic characteristics, the results of Logistic regression analysis showed that the co-occurrence risk of obesity and depression symptoms among the top three groups of middle school students were 1.35( OR=1.35, 95%CI =1.15-1.58), 4.20( OR=4.20, 95%CI =3.50-5.04), and 1.84( OR=1.84, 95%CI =1.40-2.38)times, compared to the healthy group ( P <0.05).
Conclusions
From 2019 to 2023, the comorbidity rate of obesity and depression among middle school students in Tianjin increased first and then decreased gradually. Interventions should be made in the aspects of exercise, diet, sleep and other behaviors.

Objective:To investigate the risk factors of dysplasia in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) in China. Methods:From March 1st, 2012 to December 30th, 2013, a total of 154 UC patients were prospectively enrolled from the following 11 hospitals, Xijing Hospital of Digestive Diseases, Ruijin Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Renji Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Nanfang Hospital affiliated to Southern Medical University, China-Japan Friendship Hospital, The Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University, West China Hospital affiliated to Sichuan University, The Seventh Medical Center of PLA General Hospital, Zhongshan Hospital affiliated to Xiamen University, and the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University. The patients were followed up till December 1st, 2017. All the UC patients underwent colon endoscopy and histopathological evaluation. T test and Chi-square test were used for statistical analysis. Cox proportional risk model was used for identifying the risk factors of dysplasia in UC patients. Results:Finally, 133 UC patients were enrolled, the age was (50.0±11.9) years, the diagnosis age was (35.5±11.6) years, the course of disease was (14.5±6.7) years, and the number of endoscopic examinations was (3.4±1.6) times. A total of 21 patients were detected with dysplasia. No patients were detected with colorectal cancer. The results of univariate analysis revealed that the diagnosis age (hazard ratio ( HR)=1.05, 95% confidence interval ( CI) 1.01 to 1.10, P=0.009) and extensive colitis ( HR=2.92, 95% CI 0.97 to 8.79, P=0.057) were factors with statistically significant difference. The results of multivariate analysis revealed that the old age at diagnosis ( HR=1.06, 95% CI 1.02 to 1.11, P=0.003) and extensive colitis ( HR=3.68, 95% CI 1.21 to 11.19, P=0.022) were independent risk factors of dysplasia in UC patients. The cumulative incidence of dysplasia of UC patients with extensive colitis was higher than that of patients with left-sided colitis (24.3%, 17/70 vs. 6.3%, 4/63), and the difference was statistically significant ( χ2=8.023, P=0.005). Conclusions:Extensive colitis and older age at diagnosis are two independent risk factors of dysplasia in UC patients of our country. The cancer monitoring should be strengthened in UC patients with long course of disease and extensive colitis.
