Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of InterTAN (IT) and dynamic hip screw (DHS) in treatment of femoral intertrochanteric fractures. Methods From July 2008 to November 2011,the patients with femoral intertrochanteric fractures were treated by IT (IT group,21 patients) and DHS (DHS group,35 patients). The intraoperative data (operative time, intraoperative blood loss, incision length and hospitalization period),postoperative complications (wound infection, lower limb deep venous thrombosis, bedsore, urinary tract infection and pneumonia) and fracture healing (fracture healing time, femoral neck crispation, coxa vara and Harris scores) were compared. Results IT group was superior to DHS group in operative time, intraoperative blood loss, incision length and hospitalization period [(62.16 ± 15.26) min vs.(85.78 ± 19.50) min,(237.73 ± 108.51) ml vs.(490.87 ± 127.90) ml,(10.20 ±2.02) cm vs.(19.83 ± 2.98) cm and (10.23 ±5.52) d vs.(15.58 ±5.32) d,P <0.01].However,there was no significant difference in postoperative complications (P > 0.05).There was significant difference between IT group and DHS group in femoral neck crispation, coxa vara [9.52% (2/21)vs.28.57% (10/35),14.29% (3/21)vs.31.43% (11/35),P < 0.01].There was no significant difference in fracture healing time and Harris scores (P > 0.05).Conclusions Compared with DHS,IT has extensive application, shorter surgical time and reliable fixation effect. Therefore,IT is suitable to femoral intertrochanteric fractures.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the correlations on hepatitis B virus(HBV)preS1-antigen(preS1-Ag)and HBV-DNA,HBV markers in patients with hepatitis B.METHODS The markers,preS1-Ag and HBV-DNA were determined by ELISA and PCR in 406 patients with hepatitis B and 80 healthy persons.RESULTS The positive rates of preS1-Ag in 160 patients with HBsAg(+)and HBeAg(+)were 84.4%.The positive rates of preS1-Ag in 246 patients with HBsAg(+)and HBeAg(-)were 42.3%;the difference between them was significant(?2=70.9,P

Objective By detecting the mutations spectrum of phenylalanine hydroxylase(PAH)gene in phe-nylketonuria(PKU)patients and their parents. The researchers analyzed the gene mutation features and high - frequency mutations and determined the relationship between the genotype and the phenotype, which would provide a theoretical basis for the early diagnosis and genetic consultation of PKU children in the region. Methods In this study,13 exons and their flanking introns of the PAH gene in 32 PKU patients and their parents from Wuxi and Suqian in Jiangsu province were sequenced by using the next - generation sequencing(NGS)technology. Results Sixty - one mutant sites and 32 mutant genes were detected in 32 PKU patients, and the mutation detection rate was 95. 31%(61 / 64 cases). The variants at c. 721C ﹥ T,c. 1068C ﹥ A,c. 611A ﹥ G,c. 1197A ﹥ T,c. 728G ﹥ A,c. 331C ﹥ T and c. 442 -1G ﹥ A were common mutations in the region with mutation frequency over 5% . What's more,4 novel variants of c. 699C ﹥ G,c. 265C ﹥ T,c. 722G ﹥ A and c. 1194A ﹥ G were found. Of those,c. 699C ﹥ G was not recorded in the PAH variant database and HGMD database and. c. 265C ﹥ T,c. 722G ﹥ A,and c. 1194A ﹥ G were first reported in the Chi-nese population. Genotype - accurate biochemical phenotype correlation by using the Guldberg AV system revealed con-sistency rate of 38. 0%(8 / 21 cases),which the consistency rate between accurate biochemical phenotype and predic-tive phenotype of moderate to severe genotype was 92. 3%(12 / 13 cases),and mild genotype was 50. 0%(4 / 8 cases). Conclusions The PAH gene variants of PKU patients in Jiangsu province are distributed mainly in exons 7,of which the highest frequency gene mutation is c. 721 c ﹥ T. Moreover, one novel variant c. 699C ﹥ G was reported for the first time. The PKU children inherit the PAH mutation gene mainly from both parents. There are definite correlation between the genotypes and phenotypes.

In response to the Opinions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on Promoting the Inheritance, Innovation, and Development of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) and the spirit of the National Conference on TCM, Chinese Association of Chinese Medicine organized experts in Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery of traditional Chinese and western medicine to discuss the clinical advantages of TCM and integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine in the treatment of allergic rhinitis (AR) and they reached a basic consensus. In recent years, the prevalence of AR has been on the rise, threatening the quality of life of patients and giving rise to a heavy burden to both the patients and the society. AR is resulted from immune imbalance rather than reduced immunity or hyperimmunity, and the imbalance is similar to the Yin-yang disharmony in TCM. In the treatment of this disease, western medicine features rapid onset. However, it is cost-intensive and causes severe surgical trauma, and the recurrence is common. TCM boasts diverse methods for AR, which can be used in all stages of this disease. It has advantages in controlling symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose, or dysosmia in the attack stage, preventing recurrence in the remission stage, and treating refractory AR or steroid-resistant AR. In particular, acupuncture enjoys a reputation in treatment of AR, which has been supported by evidence-based medicine and recommended by guidelines. While treating local symptoms of AR, TCM regulates the psychosomatic conditions, which facilitates chronic disease management and long-term follow-up. We should integrate the advantages of TCM and western medicine, give full play to the unique nonnegligible and irreplaceable advantages of TCM, formulate a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment scheme for learning and promotion, and summarize the research outcomes to promote the theoretical innovation of TCM on AR from the perspective of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine.
