Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics 2006;0(05):-
Lipopolysaccharide(LPS) can induce cell inflammation through interacting with TLR4. Recent studies have revealed that MD-2 participate in the process of LPS induced signal transduction pathway by forming a complex with TLR4. After binding to the MD-2 of the TLR4/MD-2 complex, LPS can induce TLR4- oligomerization and activate the downstream signal pathway. After being synthesized, most MD-2 can bind to TLR4 at the endoplasmic reticulum /Golgi apparatus and expresse as TLR4/MD-2 complex at the cellular surface. Therefore MD-2 not only can regulate the distribution of TLR4 in the cytoplasm, but also help TLR4 to recognize LPS. Another part of MD-2 can be released into plasma as soluble MD-2(sMD-2). With the help of CD14, sMD-2 would interact with LPS in the plasma to constitute LPS-sMD-2 complex, helping cell who express only TLR4, to recognize LPS, however excessive expressed sMD-2 would repress the LPS signal transduction pathway. In conclusion, MD-2 plays a crucially modulating role in the process of TLR4 mediated endotoxin recognition and signal transduction.

Objective:To evaluate the influence of complete or incomplete revascularization on the life quality of elderly patients with multivessel coronary artery disease. Methods:The study retrospectively analyzed the clinical data and the quality of life assessment result in the elderly patients with multivessel coronary artery disease, who were over 60 years, underwent percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) procedure from June 2003 to December 2004 in our center, and followed-up for 2 years with the 36 items short form health survey(SF-36).Results:All domains, except that for mental health, assessed by the SF-36 showed significantly higher scores after revascularization by PCI,and the scores in completely revascularized patients were higher than those in incompletely revascularized patients. Conclusion:PCI can significantly improve the quality of life and the improvement is better with complete than with incomplete revascularization.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between anemia and severity of coronary artery lesions. Methods: A total of 227 consecutive patients with coronary artery disease(CAD) were studied.According to their hemoglobin levels, all patients identified positive by selective coronary angiography(CAG) were divided into two groups, anemic group and non-anemic group, their clinical types and severity of coronary artery lesions were compared. Results: The proportion of anemia in unstable angina and infarction group was higher than those in stable angina group, similarly the proportion of anemia was also high in severe stenosis, occlusion and three-branch stenosis groups than that in other groups. Conclusion: Anemia is possibly one of the predictive factors suggesting CAD's clinical types and deterioration of coronary artery stenosis.

Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2003;0(07):-
Objective: The main purpose of percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) is to improve patients' quality of life. Many studies focus on the efficacy of PCI for angina relief, but rarely on the improvement of quality of life after PCI.We aim to investigate the quality of life in patients with coronary heart disease(CHD) 2 years after coronary stent implantation. Methods: A total of 457 CHD patients underwent coronary stent implantation, their quality of life investigated with The Short Form 36 Health Survey Questionnaires(SF-36) before and 2 years after the operation. Results: The results of various dimensions of SF-36 before and 2 years after the operation were as follows: physical function(PF)(56.47?26.05 vs 68.20 ? 20.18,P 0.05).Conclusion: Coronary stent implantation could significantly improve the long-term(2-year) quality of life of patients with coronary heart disease.

To explore the effect of high glucose on the NF-κB/IκB signal pathway in cultured rat glomerular mesangial cells. The results showed that high glucose increased the degradation of IκB-α and the translocation to nucleus of NF-κB. These changes could be reverted mostly by MG132, a proteasome inhibitor. It suggests that the activation of the NF-κB signal pathway by high glucose concentration may probably be via the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway.

Objective To analyze the results of postoperative conventional radiotherapy supplemen- ted by stereotactic radiotherapy for glioma and with analysis of prognostic factors. Methods From Dec. 1998 to Dee.2004,143 patients with brain glioma were postoperatively treated with conventional radiotherapy supplemented by stereotactic radiotherapy.Steretactic radiotherapy of 5-7 Gy/fraction,to totally 5-7 fractions were added as boost to the GTV following the conventional radiotherapy. The conventional radiotherapy,ai- ming at the peri-tumoral subclinical micro-loci,was about 50 Gy.Results The KPS grades were 81?9, 71?9 in patients 3-6 month after treatment in contrast to that prior to operation (t=5.98,P<0.01 ).CR 39 patients (27.3%) ,PR 70 patients(49.0% ) ,NC 25 patients(17.5%),PD 9 patients(6.3%),with an effi- ciency rate of 76%.The 1-,3-,and 5-year survival rate was 56.6%,36.0% and 21.7%,respectively. Prognostic factor analysis showed that patients with low grade glioma had better survival time.Age,tumor site and dose, etc were unrelated to prognosis. Conclusion Stereotactic radiotherapy supplementing conven- tional radiotherapy is effective for postoperative brain glioma, which method not only shows excellence in physical dose distribution but strictly in accordance with the principle of radiobiology also.

China Biotechnology 2006;0(05):-
Adipose-tissue mesenchymal stem cells, is one kind of multipotent stem cells, can differentiate into adipogenic, osteogenic, chondrogenic, myogenic cells and so on in vitro and in vivo. Human adipose tissue is plentiful, easily harvested in large quantity with little patient discomfort. Adipose-tissue derived mesenchymal stem cells may be an alternative stem cell source for mesenchymal tissue regeneration and engineering without ethical consideration of embryonic stem cells and severe pain resulted by bone marrow procurement. The research work on adipose-tissue mesenchymal stem cells and future clinical perspectives were reviewed.
