Objective To explore a suitable method to estimate the quantity of removing skin in double-fold eyelid operation.Methods Upper eyelid skin gently pulled towards eyebrows was flattened with the eyelash being slightly curved,the double-fold eyelid line that was parallelled to blepharitis was marked at 6-7 mm far from blepharitis.Then opening eyelid and looking upwards,the suprapalpebral fold was formed,and several dots were marked on the fold margin. After slightly closing eyelid the suprapalpebral fold margin line was formed through connecting the dots.The skin between the two line was the quantity to remove in operation.If the two line overlaped,removing skin did not need.Results A total of 89 cases were enrolled in this study.The patients were followed up from three months to one year,and the results showed that 67 cases were satisfactory,22 cases were basically satisfatory,and no one was not satisfactory.Conclusions The designing method for removing skin according to double-fold eyelid line and suprapalpebral fold margin line is a good method to estimate the quantity of removing skin in double-fold eyelid operation.

Objective To investigate the effects of maternal behaviors in the rats with neuropathic pain (NP) on emotions of offspring rats and the relationship with DNA methylation in the amygdala.Methods Forty-eight healthy adult Sprague-Dawley rats (24 males and 24 females),weighing 200-250 g,were used in the study.Twelve female and 12 male rats were randomly selected,and NP was induced by chronic constriction injury (CCI).Each female rat was mated with one male rat at 10 days after CCI.Fortyeight F1 generation rats of maternal rats with NP were randomly divided into 2 groups (n =24 each) using a random number table:NP1 group and NP2 group.Forty-eight F1 generation rats of normal maternal rats were randomly divided into 2 groups (n=24 each) using a random number table:S1 group and S2 group.The F1 generation rats were cross-fed immediately after birth between group NP2 and group S2,and fed by their own mother rats in NP1 and S1 groups.All the offspring rats were fed to 21 days after birth by the maternal rats selected,and separately fed to 30 days after birth,and then subjected to behavioral testing.Retrieving and licking pups were recorded after delivery in maternal rats to evaluate the maternal behaviors.The mechanical and thermal paw withdrawal thresholds were measured in the offspring rats.Elevated plus maze and open field tests were conducted to detect anxiety and depression behaviors in the offspring rats.At 1 day after completion of behavioral testing,the expression of DNA methyltransferase 1 (DNMT1) and DNA methyltransferase 3a and 3b in the amygdala was detected by Western blot analysis.Results Compared with S1 or S2 groups,the latency to lick pups,latency to retrieve pups,and total retrieval time were significantly prolonged,and the total time spent licking pups was significantly shortened in NP1 group or NP2 group (P＜0.05 or 0.01).There was no significant difference in the mechanical and thermal paw withdrawal thresholds in the offspring rats between the four groups (P＞0.05).Compared with group S1,the ratios of time spent in the open arm to the closed arm and of time spent in the central square to the peripheral square were significantly decreased,DNMT1 expression in the amygdala was significantly up-regulated,and the total DNA methylation was increased in the offspring rats in S2 and NP1 groups (P＜0.05).Compared with group NP2,the ratios of time spent in the open arm to the closed arm and of time spent in the central square to the peripheral square were significantly decreased,DNMT1 expression in the amygdala was significantly up-regulated,and the total DNA methylation was increased in the offspring rats in S2 and NP1 groups (P＜0.05).Conclusion Decreased maternal behaviors in the rats with NP results in negative emotions including anxiety and depression in the offspring rats,and the mechanism is related to increased DNA methylation in the amygdala of the offspring rats.

Objective To understand the characteristics of malaria prevalence in Sichuan Province from 2012 to 2014,so as to provide evidences for improving the work of malaria elimination. Methods The epidemiological data of malaria cases in Si?chuan Province were collected from the Disease Surveillance Information Reporting System of Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention,and analyzed with the descriptive epidemiological method. Results A total of 690 imported malaria cases were reported in Sichuan Province from 2012 to 2014. In detail,54.49%(376/690)were falciparum malaria cases,42.03%(290/690)were vivax malaria cases,0.58%(4/690)were malariae malaria cases,1.88%(13/690)were ovale malaria cases,and 1.01%(7/690)were mixed infection cases with Plasmodium vivax and P. falciparum. Among them,five cases died. Totally 671 malaria cases were infected overseas,accounting for 97.25%of the total cases. Among which,517 patients returned from Africa and 138 patients returned from Southeast Asia. There were malaria cases reported in the whole year,and 185 cases were report?ed in May and June,accounting for 26.81%of the total cases. The cases distributed in 20 prefecture?level cities in the whole province,and there were 137 and 105 ones reported in Guangan and Chengdu,respectively,which accounted for 35.07%of the total cases. Conclusion The number of patients with overseas imported malaria in Sichuan Province increases year by year, and therefore effective measures should be carried out to control the overseas imported malaria.

Aim To study the apoptosis effect of cucurbitacin Ⅱa on non-small cell lung cancer cell lines NCI-H460 and A549 and its underlying mechanism.Methods Cell viability was assessed by CCK-8 assay.The apoptosis effect and cell cycle arrest were detected by Flow cytometry.Western blot was employed to detect the related protein.Results The proliferation of lung cancer cell lines NCI-H460 and A549 was inhibited by CuⅡa, which showed cytotoxic activity with IC50 values of 224.9 nmol·L-1 and 108.3 nmol·L-1 against NCI-H460 and A549 respectively.CuⅡa induced the cells apoptosis and cell cycle arrest at G2/M phase.The results of Western blot showed CuⅡa inhibited the phosphorylation of STAT3 and Cofilin in a dose-dependent manner.Further, CuⅡa inhibited the phosphorylation of Aurora A, in line with the important characteristics of anti-tumor effect of Aurora A kinase inhibitor with blocking cells in the G2/M phase.Conclusion CuⅡa has obvious anti-tumor effect against non-small cell lung cancer, which suggests its value as a lead compound for lung cell carcinoma.

OBJECTIVETo facilitate early recognition of ominous clinical manifestations, to understand pathophysiology and assess treatment effects in patients with severe enterovirus 71 (EV71) associated hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD).

METHODA retrospective analysis was performed based on the clinical records, laboratory data and treatment effects which were collected from twelve severe EV71 infected cases from nine hospitals in 2008, in Hubei province, China.

RESULTOf the 12 severe cases, ten (83.3%) were male and two female. The median age was 1.96 yrs (8 m to 7 yrs). The mean hyperthermic duration was 6 days with the peak temperature over 38.5 degrees C, and mean rash duration was 7 days. Fever and rash emerged simultaneously in 4 of 5 cases with cardiopulmonary failure. The severe complications included encephalitis (10 cases), pulmonary edema or hemorrhage (5 cases). Eleven cases were checked with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and four cases showed characteristics of encephalitis or meningitis, two with images of naso sinusitis and ethmoid-mastoid inflammation. Chest X-ray examination showed with pulmonary edema on single or both sides (5 cases), bronchitis (4 cases), and normal image (3 cases). There was no specific finding in the cardiac ultrasound and electrocardiogram in any of the patients, as well as the white blood cell count, blood glucose, prothrombin time, partial thromboplastin time and D-dimer. Cerebrospinal fluid showed aseptic meningitis with the increase of cell count in 7 cases. All patients were treated with antibiotics and/or antivirals, such as cephalosporins, ribavirin etc. Eleven patients were treated with intravenous immunoglobulin (total dose 2 - 4.5 g/kg) for 2 - 5 days, and the highest blood concentration of immunoglobulin was detected increasing at 7 g/L. Seven cases were also treated with methylprednisolone 10 - 30 mg/(kg x d), four with dopamine, dobutamine, or digitalis. In addition, by using continuous positive airway pressure by nasal catheter and maintenance of circulation in the cases with cardiopulmonary failure could not relieve the symptoms of dyspnoea, and mechanical ventilation was required to maintain for a mean of 72 hrs (24 - 96 hrs). Except one case died of pulmonary edema in the early stage, others were cured without sequelae.

CONCLUSIONSevere EV71 infection is more common in children younger than 3 years old, in which the profound complications include encephalitis and pulmonary edema. The mechanical ventilation should be critically urged for child with complicating cardiopulmonary failure as soon.

OBJECTIVETo construct an eukaryotic expression vector carrying rat brain-derived neurotrophic factor receptor trkB gene.

METHODSUsing the total RNA isolated from rat brain as template, the trkB gene was amplified by reverse-transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) with a pair of specific primers which contained the restrictive sites of EcoR I and BamH I. The amplified fragment of trkB gene was digested with EcoR I and BamH I, and then subcloned into cloning vector pMD18-T and expression vector pEGFP-C2 respectively. The recombinant plasmids were identified by restriction endonuclease enzyme analysis and PCR.

RESULTSThe amplified DNA fragment was about 1461 bp in length. Enzyme digestion and PCR analysis showed that the gene of trkB had been successfully cloned into vector pMD18-T and pEGFP-C2.

CONCLUSIONSThe trkB gene of rat has been amplified and cloned into the eukaryotic expression vector pEGFP-C2.

Obiective To investigate the chemical constituents of Pothos chinensis.Methods Compounds were isolated by the silica gel and Sephadex LH-20,semi-PHPLC,preparative thin layer chromatography and recrystallization.Structures of the com-pounds were identified by the physicochemical properties as well as the 1H NMR,13C NMR and MS spectroscopic data.Results Six-teen compounds were isolated from the whole plant of P.chinensis and their structures were identified as liquiritigenin(1),p-hydroxy-benzoic acid(2),syringic acid(3),E-4-hydroxycinnamic acid(4),N-trans-p-coumaroyltyramine(5),N-trans-cinnamoyltyramine (6),N-trans-feruloyltyramine(7),(+)-epiloliolide(8),neoechinulin A(9),vitexin(10),berchemolide(11),(±)-syringaresinol (12),prunasin(13),4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde(14),β-sitosterol(15)and β-daucosterol(16),respectively.Conclu-sion Compounds 1 and 9-14 are isolated from the genus Pohos for the first time.

Objective To investigate the effect of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE) using As_2O_3 and Lipiodol on the growth and metastasis of the implanted hepatic tumor in rabbits and the correlation of metastasis with angiogenesis of the residual tumor.Methods Forty-eight New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into four groups and VX_2 carcinoma was implanted in the left lobes of the livers.Two weeks later,a catheter was inserted into the hepatic artery and infusion was performed via the hepatic artery using physiological saline(group A),Lipiodol(group B),ADM-Lipiodol(group C),and As_2O_3-Lipiodol(group D),respectively.One week after the treatment,the value of microvessel density (MVD)of tumors(samples got by biopsy)was examined by immunohistochemistry.Three weeks after the treatment,the volume and necrotic area of the implanted tumor were measured.The metastases in the liver, lungs and other organs were recorded.Results One week after the treatment,the value of MVD of the tumorswas(21.8?5.3),(23.4?3.9),(22.4?4.5),and(14.3?3.4)/400 power LM(F= 11.246,P=0.000).Three weeks after the treatment,the mean volume of the implanted tumor was (35.5?7.1),(21.2?8.3),(20.7?9.1),and(11.8?3.7)cm~3(F=21.203,P=0.0000)in groups A,B,C and D,respectively.There was significant difference between group D and group B(q= 4.398,P
