Objective To explore the relationship between depression and anxiety and peripheral blood cell counts ( white blood cell ( WBC) ,neutrophil ( NEU) ,lymphocyte ( LYM) ,red blood cell ( RBC) and hemoglobin ( HGB) ) of heroin?dependent patients receiving methadone maintenance treatment ( MMT) . Methods Two hundred and fifty?two MMT heroin addicts, who had received peripheral blood tests within the week prior to the study, were administered with a general information questionnaire,SDS and SAS. The results of blood tests of these patients were compared with those of 109 healthy people in physical examina?tion. Multiple linear regression was used to analyze associations between indicators of peripheral blood cell counts and depressive and anxiety symptoms. Results Compared with healthy controls,MMT patients had significantly higher proportions of elevated WBC(14.7%vs 3.7%),NEU(12.7% vs 2.8%) and LYM(9.9%vs 2.8%) counts (all P<0.05),and low RBC(10.3%vs 4.6%) counts and HGB(11.5%vs 4.6%) concentra?tion (both P<0.05). Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that blood cell counts of WBC ( β=0.261, P<0.01),NEU ( β=0.264, P<0.01),LYM ( β=0.196, P=0.003) and RBC ( β=-0.144, P=0.021) were independently associated with depression;and blood cell counts of WBC ( β=0.298, P<0.01) and LYM ( β=0.269, P<0.01) were independently associated with anxiety. Conclusion Improving the in?flammatory and malnutrition status may be helpful for reducing depressive and anxiety symptoms of MMT her?oin addicts.

Objective To study early diagnosis and treatment of Wernicke's encephalopathy(WE) in allogeneic peripheral blood stem cell transplantation recipients.Method A 17 years old patient with acute B-lymphocytic leukemia received HLA-matched nonrelative allogeneic peripheral blood stem cell transplantation after conditioning with total-body irradiation/idamycin/cyclophosphamide (TBI/IDA/Cy) regimen.CD25 monoclonal antibody and cyclosporine A+mycophenolate mofetil + methotrexate were administrated for graft versus host disease prophylaxis.Result On the day 8,the platelet was over 20 × 109/L; On the day 10,the neutrophile granulocyte was over 0.5 × 109/L; On the day 28,full engraftment was confirmed by a bone marrow medicolegal identification. The continued nausea and vomiting after HSCT resulted in deficiency of intake and malabsorption. On the day 54,illusion and tremor occurred, and the follow-up brain MRI suggested WE,but the patient died before thiamine replacing therapy. Conclusion WE is also a rare neurologic complication of HSCT,however,it can easily be overlooked. So early radiologic surveillance and treatment for patients with WE is very important to minimize central nervous system complications and unwanted mortality.

Hemolysins of Leptospira interragans have been shown to be the virulence factor in the pathogenesis of leptospirosis and 10 potential hemolysin genes were charecterized by genomic annotation of L.interrogans serovar.Lai strain 56601. In the present study, the LA0202 gene supposed to encode one of the new potential hemolysin was cloned and the protein encoded was purified. The purified protein was shown to have highly hemolytic activity as demonstrated on the sheep blood agar plate. It was also confirmed that the LA0202 protein-mediated hemolysis on sheep erythrocytes was osmotically protected by PEG6000. Meanwhile, this protein could induce pore formation on sheep erythrocytes and cause damages on the membrane of human L-02 liver cells. In addition, it could induce apoptosis of human L-02 liver cells after treatment of cells with this protein for 24 hours. It is evident that LA0202 protein acting as a pore-formong hemolysin can induce cytotoxic damage on mammalian cells.

OBJECTIVETo explore the effect of internal fixation with screw through femoral epiphyseal plate on growth in- hibition via an experimental study.
METHODSForty New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into 4 groups and 10 rabbits in each group. Epiphyseal plate was injured by penetrating of screws, and the size of damage area was controlled by changing the number of threads. Group A: blank group; group B: injury area accounted for 4% of the epiphyseal plate; group C: injury area accounted for 6%; group D: injury area accounted for 8%. The internal fixation was removed after 2 weeks, and the results were observed with X-ray film for 4 groups to judge the complications such as early closure of epiphyseal.
RESULTSIn each group, there were no statistical differences in the length of the femoral neck, the diameter of femoral neck, the diameter of the femoral head, and the epiphyseal plate closure time. The growth speed of the length and diameter of the femoral neck, as well as the diameter of femoral head, were quicker on the early phase, and the speed was slowest when the epiphyseal plate was being closed.
CONCLUSIONThe injury area of epiphyseal plate under 8% is safe for its growth. Because no evidences demonstrate the growth inhibition of epiphyseal plate, the screws can be used for rabbit epiphyseal plates.
