To explore the effect of high glucose on the NF-κB/IκB signal pathway in cultured rat glomerular mesangial cells. The results showed that high glucose increased the degradation of IκB-α and the translocation to nucleus of NF-κB. These changes could be reverted mostly by MG132, a proteasome inhibitor. It suggests that the activation of the NF-κB signal pathway by high glucose concentration may probably be via the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the expression of galectin-3 and galectin-9 in mice nasal mucosa, and to explore the role of galectin-3 and galectin-9 in allergic rhinitis (AR).
METHODSTwenty mice were randomly divided into AR group and control group, 10 mice in each group. Ten mice of BALB/c were sensitized intraperitoneally with 10 microg of ovalbumin(OVA) adsorbed onto 2 mg Al(OH)3 on day 1 and day 14. Mice was induced daily by intranasal daily administration of 10 microl of saline containing 100 microg of OVA from day 21 to day 28. OVA was replaced with saline in control group. Immunohistochemical staining was used to examine the expression of galectin-3 and galectin-9 in nasal mucosa. RT-PCR was performed to investigate the level of mRNA expression of complement galectin-3, galectin-9. The level of IL-4, IL-5 and IFN-gamma in peripheral blood were titrated by ELISA.
RESULTSGalectin-3 and galectin-9 were detected in both groups. Expression of galectin-3 and galectin-9 in group AR was higher than that in control group. Pearson correlation analysis demonstrated that the levels of galectin-3 and galectin-9 were positively correlated with the level of IL-4 and IL-5, but negatively correlated with the level of IFN-gamma.
CONCLUSIONSGalectin-3 and galectin-9 might play an important role in the pathogenesis of allergic rhinitis.

Objective To evaluate the impact of breathing motion on target volume and the factors influencing the set-up errors during tangential whole breast irradiation. Methods From Jan 2003 to Dec 2003,patients with early-stage breast cancer after breast conserving surgery, were selected to be eligible for the study. All patients were immobilized in treatment position by breast beard of Med-Tec 250.The motion of the breast treatment volume was observed on a fluoroscope in different directions under free breathing in 16 patients. The set-up errors in different dimensions during irradiation were measured by weekly portal films (PF) in comparison with digital reconstructed radiographs (DRR) in 11 patients. Results The central lung distance (CLD) variation during free breathing was (2.1?1.2) mm which is greater than the motion to- wards the other directions.By comparing the PF and DRR,the systemic error, random error and overall er- ror in the outer, inner and cranio-caudal directions was 1.9,1.6,2.5 and 2.4,1.7,3.1 and 2.6,2.3, 3.5 mm,respectively. In addition, the discrepancy of the treatment position in cranio-caudal direction and breast volume was most obvious at the beginning 2 weeks with the peak of breast volume at the second week. It decreased gradually during the following 3 weeks. Conclusions This study suggests that the mean value of the motion of the breast target volume during one breathing cycle is less than 2 mm.The set-up errors dur- ing irradiation is the greatest in cranio-caudal direction, suggesting that the fixing precision of the breast board should be further improved. The set-up error during irradiation are most obvious at the beginning two weeks, with the peak of the breast volume in the second week.

Objective To analyze the treatment outcome and related influencing factors of Tibet- an nationality new smear-positive pulmonary tuberculosis patients in Qinghai Province,so as to provide evidence for tuberculosis control and treatment among Tibetan population. Methods Statistical analysis was conducted on 5 564 Tibetan nationality new smear-positive pulmonary tuberculosis cases in Qinghai province who were reported in the China Tuberculosis Information Management System and approved to receive treatment from 2008 to 2017. The main influencing factors were detected by unconditional Logistic regression model analysis, dependent variable was successful treatment or not, independent variables were other factors related to the treatment outcome. Results The treatment success rate of Tibetan nationality new smear-positive pulmonary tuberculosis cases was 87. 1% ( 4 848 /5 564) ,and the adverse outcome rate was 12. 9% ( 716 /5 564) . Unconditional Logistic regression model analysis indicated that non-full- course supervision management, living in agricultural and pastoral area, having severe disease, floating population, and age older than 60 years were risk factors of adverse outcome. The odds ratio( OR) 95% confidence interval( CI) of the above risk factors were 13. 044( 10. 671-15. 944) ,2. 305( 1. 703-3. 119) ,
2. 090( 1. 346-3. 243) ,1. 967( 1. 443-2. 682) ,and 1. 909( 1. 410-2. 586) . Clinical consultation, farmers and herdsmen were protective factors. The OR( 95% CI) were 0. 451( 0. 375-0. 543) ,and 0. 786( 0. 627- 0. 985) . Conclusions Treatment success rate of Tibetan nationality new smear positive pulmonary tuberculosis cases was low. Therefore, the directly observed treatment short-course ( DOTS) strategy should be strictly implemented and the full-course supervision management should be strengthened to improve the treatment success rate. More attention should be paid to the elderly, severe, floating, agricultural and pastoral populations among the Tibetan population.

To investigate the urination-reducing effect and mechanism of Zhuangyao Jianshen Wan (ZYJCW). In this study, SI rats were subcutaneously injected with 150 mg · kg(-1) dose of D-galactose to prepare the sub-acute aging model and randomly divided into the model group, the Suoquan Wan group (1.17 g · kg(-1) · d(-1)), and ZYJCW high, medium and low dose groups (2.39, 1.20, 0.60 g · kg(-1) · d(-1)) , with normal rats in the blank group. They were continuously administered with drugs for eight weeks. The metabolic cage method was adopted to measure the 24 h urine volume and 5 h water load urine volume in rats. The automatic biochemistry analyzer was adopted to detect urine concentrations of Na+, Cl-, K+. The ELISA method was used to determine serum aldosterone (ALD) and antidiuretic hormone (ADH). The changes in P2X1 and P2X3 mRNA expressions in bladder tissues of rats were detected by RT-PCR. According to the results, both ZYJCW high and medium dose groups showed significant down-regulations in 24 h urine volume and 5 h water load urine volume in (P <0.05, P <0.01), declines in Na+ and Cl- concentrations in urine (P <0.01), notable rises in plasma ALD and ADH contents (P <0.05, P <0.01) and remarkable down-regulations in the P2X1 and P2X3 mRNA expressions in bladder tissues (P <0.01). The ZYJCW low dose group revealed obvious reductions in Na+ and Cl- concentrations in urine (P <0.01). The results indicated that ZYJCW may show the urination-reducing effect by down-regulating the P2X1 and P2X3 mRNA expressions in bladder tissues of rats with diuresis caused by kidney deficiency.
