Objective To observe the effect of Naoling decoction on the expression of iNOS in hippocamal CA3 region in rats with Alzheimer's disease (AD), and to explore the potential mechanism. Methods Forty SD rats were classified into 5 groups: a normal group, a sham operated group, an AD group, a Naoling decoction group, and a Naofukang group. The Alzheimer's disease model was established by injecting Aβ1-42 into the hippocamal in the rats. Expression of iNOS in the CA3 region was measured with immunohistochemical staining. Results Compared with the normal group, the expression of iNOS protein in the hippocampal CA3 fields in the AD group increased (P<0.05). Naoling decoction decreased the iNOS expression. Conclusion Naoling decoction can significantly reduce the expression of iNOS in the AD model rats, suggesting that Naoling decoction can be used for AD rats.

Objective To observe the effect of Naoling decoction on hippocamal histomorphology and the expression of amyloid precursor protein (APP) in CA3 region in rats with Alzheimer's disease (AD), and to explore the therapeutical and the potential mechanism. Methods Forty SD rats were classified into 5 groups: a normal group, a sham-operated group, an AD group, a Naoling decoction group, and a Naofukang group. Alzheimer's disease model was established by Aβ1-42 injected into the hippocamal in the rats. The faculty of learning and memory was evaluated by Morris water maze. The changes of cell morphology were detected by HE staining. Expression of APP in CA3 region was mea-sured with immunohistochemical staining. Results Morris water maze experiment showed that the escape latency of hidden platform in the AD group were delayed significantly (P<0.05) and the average times of passing was decreased (P<0.05). In the hippocampal CA3 field of the AD rats, HE staining and immunohistochemical test showed that pyramidal cells disturbed, neurons decreased significantly and expression of APP protein increased (P<0.05). Naoling decoction treatment improved pyramidal cellular disorders and decreased APP expression. Conclusion Naoling decoction can distinctly improve the learning and memory ability, and reduce the expression of APP in the AD model rats, suggesting that Naoling decoction can be used for the treatment of AD in rats.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the characteristics and clinical application of alginate dressing to provide better biological dressing for clinical wound healing. METHODS: A computer-based online search of CNKI, Medline, Wanfang, Science Direct, and Ei databases was performed for related articles published between January 1960 and October 2009, with the key words "alginate, dressing, clinical application" in Chinese and English. Studies regarding characteristics and clinical application of alginate dressing were included. Repetitive and Meta analysis were excluded. In addition, related books were manually searched. RESULTS: A total of 65 articles were collected, 17 were included, and 48 repetitive or Meta analyses were excluded. Alginate is natural polysaccharide carbohydrate extracted from sea tangle, and alginate dressing is soft non-textile fiber refined from seaweed. It contains 85% natural alginate fiber and 15% sodium tvIose. It can absorb effusion, form gelate, and exchange Na~+/Ca~(2+) with effusion. Alginate dressing has been widely used in bedsore treatment, anal fistula nursing, stoma nursing, and diabetic foot nursing. Compared with traditional dressing, infection rate of alginate dressing is lower due to good impermeability, promotion of regional vessel proliferation and blood supply, as well as moist and slightly acidic environment which benefits neutrophil function enhances disinfection. Moreover, it can be used in wound healing following abdominal region operation and abscess incision drainage.CONCLUSION: Alginate dressing provides appropriate environment for wound growth, retains active materials in diffusion, promotes active material release, benefit necrotic tissue solution and cell proliferation and differentiation, as well as epithelial cell migration. Moreover, it maintains hypoxia state of wound, stimulates newly generated capillary growth, and promotes granulation tissue growth.

Objective To evaluate and compare the therapeutic effects of the open prostatectomy(OP)?transurethral electrovaporization ablation prostatectomy (TUEVAP) and interstitial laser coagulation(ILC) for the treatments of symptomatic BPH. Methods 282 symptomatic BPH patients randomly underwent OP (n=98)?TUEVAP(n=91) or ILC(n=93) respectively and the therapeutic effects were evaluated. Results There are significant improvements in symptoms and physical signs in each group after the procedure. The average catheterization time following OP?TUEVAP and ILC was 185 h?76 h and 362 h,the immediate morbidity rate being 28.9%?16.7%? 14.8 % and the retreatment rate 1.0%?6.6% and 16.1% respectively. OP group showed the longest average operative time and the most blood loss both of which were the least in ILC group. Conclusions OP is the most effective of the three procedures, but the trauma to the patient is the most. The therapeutic effect of TUEVAP is similar to OP's,with less injure.ILC is the easiest and safest procedure with the least side effects.

Objective To investigate and analyze the current situation of reference intervals and decision limits of reticulocyte count in China. Methods The information related to upper/lower limits, decision limits, data resources, method principles, instruments and reagents of reticulocyte count in 2014 was collected via the external quality assessment software system based on website. The participants were divided according to their methods and instruments. The SPSS 1 9.0 was used for conducting the data analysis and statistics of results for each group. Results There were 276 laboratories submitting the val-id results. The major resources for reference intervals came from national guide to clinical laboratory procedures (53.99%), instructions of instrument manufacturers (16.30%),textbook (9.78%),instructions of reagents manufacturers (9.06%) and others. The major resources for decision limits were national guide to clinical laboratory procedures (56.06%),instruc-tions of instrument manufacturers (16.67%),textbook (7.58),instructions of reagents manufacturers (7.58%)and others. The medians and averages of upper/lower limits and decision limits among subgroups were close, whereas the P2.5 and P97.5 were significant discrepancies.Only 45.65% and 48.48% of participant laboratories had verified reference intervals and deci-sion limits before clinic use.The lower limits and decision limits among subgroups had nostatistical difference (P>0.05), where as the upper limits of different instrument groups had significant differences (P<0.001).Conclusion The current situation of reference intervals and decision limits of reticulocyte count is unsatisfactory. It is certain to establish a uniformed reference interval and decision limits for reticulocyte count, which provides a reference for the standardization of reticulocyte count testing.
