Cellulase was produced by growing Penicillium sp. NXP25 in liquid medium consisted of 5% com cob powder, 3% wheat bran, 0.35% nitrogen source No 10 and 0.3% calcium chloride. The optimum culture conditions were initial pH 5.0, 10% mycelial inoculum, temperature 29℃, shaking speed 280r/min and cultivation time 72h. When determining enzyme activity at 50℃, endo-1, 4-?-glucanase activity, extro-1, 4-?-glucanase activity, ?-glucosidase activity and filter paper enzyme activity of the supernatant of the culture were 841u/mL, 13u/mL, 24u/mL and 46u/mL, respectively. The optimum pH and temperature for the action of the above enzymes were pH 4.8 and60℃, pH5.0 and 50℃, pH 4.5 and 70℃, pH 5.0 and 55℃, respectively. Stable pH range of the above enzymes were 3.0-7.0, 4.0~6.0, 4.0~7.0 and 4.0~6.0, respectively. After incubating the enzyme complex at 65C for 30min, 24% of endo-1, 4-?-glucanase activity, 7% of extro-1, 4-?-glucanase activity, 89%of ?-glucosidase activity and 8% of filter paper enzyme activity were remained, respctively.

Objective To improve the diagnosis and treatment of testicular masses associated with congenital adrenal hyperplasia(CAH).Methods A 25-year-old man presented with bilateral testicular nodules.Physical examination revealed palpable multiple nodules in the bilateral testes and epididymides as well as enlarged and hard right testis with uneven surface.Biochemical examination showed testosterone(T) of 18.7 nmol/L,17?-(OH)P＞20.0 ng/ml,positive results of rapid ACTH stimulation test and dexametha- sone suppression test.B-ultrasound demonstrated diffuse testicular lesions with nodules in parts of the bilater- al testes.Bilateral testicular nodules were biopsied,and pathological diagnosis was interstitial cell hyperplasi- a.Positive staining for?-inhibin was observed immunohistochemically.The clinical characteristics of testicular masses associated with CAH were reviewed in combination with the literature.Results Based on medical history,imaging,laboratory and pathologic examinations,the patient was diagnosed with testicular masses as- sociated with CAH.He received oral cortisol at dose of 40 mg daily for 2 weeks,and then at dose of 30 mg daily as maintenance therapy.After treatment of 8 months,B-ultrasound showed complete regression of the testicular tumors.Follow-up of 24 months showed no recurrence of the tumor.Conclusions For patient with bilateral testicular masses,endocrinological evaluation and clinical history taking are indicated to exclude testicular interstitial cell hyperplasia associated with CAH.By oral steroid replacement therapy,hormone-sen- sitive testicular masses can regress.

Aimed at the bottlenecks in the regulation and quality control of Chinese medicine, using Big Data technology to address the significant challenges in Chinese medicine industry is proposed. For quality standard refinements and internationalization of Chinese medicine, a technological innovation strategy encompassing its methodology, and the R&D direction of the subsequent core technology are also presented.

The viable but noncuturable (VBNC) state is a survival strategy when bacteria are exposed to en- vironment stress. The VBNC state is part of the life cycle of non-differentiating bacteria, and it has a far-reaching impact on traditional bacteriology. Cells in the VBNC state fail to grow on the routine bacterio- logical media, here its significance in human health and environment science are detailed. Cells entering the VBNC state exhibit dwarfing and a number of metabolic changes in respiration rates and macromolecular synthesis. This paper summarized the variations in DNA and protein comparing to the culturable cells. We also discussed the ability of cells to resuscitate from the VBNC state and return to an actively metabolizing and culturable form. Some new methods for monitoring the VBNC state were listed. Finally the future was suggested.

ObjectiveTo determine the source of IL-6 in detached retina and the change of IL-6 level in detached and reattached retina.MethodsRetinas of SD rat were examined after subretinal injection of 1.4% Healon GV at different period of time, and the level of IL-6 in detached and reattached retina were detected by radio-immune histochemistry method. Wax-embeded sections were labeled with IL-6 antibody to determine the location of IL-6.ResultsDetached retina with normal vitreous and inner limiting membrane could only induce the subretinal fibrosis. This kind of fibrosis reached to its peak at 10th day and then remolded with time. Retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cell, Muller cell, endothelial cell, glial cell were labled with IL-6, and the level of IL-6 in neuro-retina reached to its peak at 3rd-4th day and then downed to normal within a few days. The level of IL-6 in reattached retina was lower than in detached retina. The expression of IL-6 in RPE of detached area was stronger than in attached area.ConclusionIL-6 takes active part in wound healing process induced by the separation of RPE and neuro-retina. Reattachment can lower the expression of IL-6 in retina.
