1.Evaluation methods of anterior chamber and angle structures after laser peripheral iridotomy
Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2011;29(2):174-178
Laser peripheral iridotomy ( LPI) is one of the main therapy for glaucoma due to its reliable efficacy of widening peripheral angle and therefore decreasing intraocular pressure by partially relieving pupillary block. The parameters of the anterior chamber angle following the LPI are the main evaluation indexes. At present, the detecting and diagnosis technique for the anterior chamber angle is deeply advancing, including gonioscopy, ultrasound biomicroscopy, anterior segment optical coherence tomography and Pentacam. These methods offer some useful parameters and also present with some limits in the application respectively in the evaluation of anterior chamber and angle structure. This review focuses on the application of Methods mentioned above and morphologic changes of anterior chamber and angle structure following the LPI.

Objective To investigate whether ultrasound-mediated microbubble destruction can effectively deliver pEGFP-N1 plasmid into human gingival fibroblasts (HGFs).Methods The primary cultured HGFs were divided into 4 groups, that is,plasmid, microbubble+plasmid, ultrasound+plasmid, and ultrasound+microbubble+plasmid groups.pEGFP-N1 plasmid was used to transfect to HGFs as a gene marker with ultrasound-mediated microbubble destruction. The last group was further divided into subgroups to optimize the transfection conditions. After 48 h,phase-contrast fluorescent microscopy was employed to evaluate the expression of green fluorescent protein (GFP).The cell vitality was measured by the MTT assay. Results The transfection efficiency of the ultrasound+microbubble+plasmid group was higher than other experiment groups.Optimal gene expression was found when ultrasound was radiated at 1.5 W/cm2 for 60 s,microbubble was at a concentration of 10% and plasmid was at a concentration of 6.67 ?g/ml,and the transfection efficiency was highest under this condition. Conclusion Under specific conditions, ultrasound mediated microbubble destruction enhances the reporter gene transfection and expression in HGFs.

Objective:To investigate the curative effect of early enteral nutrition support in patients with COPD complicated with respiratory failure. Methods: When mechanical ventilation began,63 patients in the acute phase of COPD complicated with respiratory failure were divided into two groups: the early enteral nutrition group(EEN group,n=32) or the delayed enteral nutrition group(DEN group,n=31).After two weeks, the nutritional indexes, the times of mechanical ventilation, the incidence of complication and the mortality were observed. Results: Two weeks later, there was significant difference between EEN group and DEN group in total protein, albumin, prealbumin and hemoglobin(P

Objective:To investigate whether hydroxytyrosol (HT) may ameliorate oxidative stress and nuclear factor kappa B (NF-?B) activation in the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated THP-1 cell line. Methods:The intracellular formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) was detected by 2,7-dichlorofluorescein diacetate (DCFH-DA) as a fluorescent probe.Intracellular glutathione (GSH) level was estimated by fluorometric methods;Nitric oxide (NO) production was measured as nitrite (a stable metabolite of NO) concentrations.Western blot analysis was used to detect the expressin level of NF-?B.Results:The results showed that treatment of THP-1 cells with HT significantly reduced LPS-stimulated NO production and ROS formation in a concentration-dependent manner.HT at 50 and 100 ?mol/L concentrations increased the GSH level. The specific DNA-binding activities of NF-?B in nuclear extracts from 50 and 100 ?mol/L HT treatments were significantly suppressed. The antioxidant N-acetylcysteine (NAC) also showed the same effects as HT on LPS-induced ROS and NO production, change of GSH level, and NF-?B activation. Conclusion:These findings suggest that HT has antioxidant activity by suppressing intracellular oxidative stress and NF-?B activation in THP-1 cells.

Journal of Environment and Health 2007;0(10):-
Objective To develop a sensitive, quick and convenient comet assay with Viciafaba root cells,so as to provide the reference for biomonitoring in situ. Methods The K_2CrO_7 and H_2O_2 were used as the positive control, the Viciafaba root cells isolated with mechanical and enzyme treatment respectively were exposed to the different concentrations of K_2CrO_7(1 nmol/L,10 nmol/L,100 nmol/L,1000 nmol/L)and H202(25 ? mol/L,50 ? mol/L,100 ?mol/L,200 ?mol/L).The effect of DNA damage was detected by using comet assay. Results The yield of Viciafaba root cells isolated from enzyme treatment were much higher than that from mechanical treatment.K_2CrO_7and H_2O_2 could cause DNA damage in Viciafaba root cells, there was significant difference between exposure group and control group(P

Purpose:To evaluate the immediate therapeutic effects and toxicities of intraperitoneal versus intravenous chemotherapy in advanced gastric cancer. Methods:Sixty one patients were treated with intravenous chemotherapy of leucovorin (CF) , fluorouracil ( 5 Fu) etoposide (Vp16) and intraperitoneal chemotherapy of cis platinum (DDP) in advanced gastric cancer. The short term effects and toxicities were observed. Results:The overall response rate was 57.4% and the complete response rate was 9.8% of the 61 patients .Leukopenia was observed in 95.1%, thrombocy topentia were observed in 27.8% of patients . Other side effects were uncommon. Conclusions:Intravenous chemotherapy of ELF and intraperitoneal chemotherapy of DDP were effective for advanced gastric cancer and are worthy to be further studied.

Objective To investigate the potential infectious of the new-Bunyavirus among the blood-donors in Guiyang area. Methods A total of 1 187 blood samples and the basic data were collected from the blood center of Guizhou. The new-Bunyavirus total antibody in serum was tested by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The samples were tested repeatedly by ELSIA,and general statistics description of the samples′ data was did by Excel2007,and the age, gender, occupation and collecting time of the samples were analyzed by SPSS19.0.Results The positive rate of new-Bunyavirus total antibody among blood-donors in Guiyang was 5.31%,and the new-Bunyavirus total antibody titers was 1∶20-1∶64.The positive were tested by PCR for identifying,PCR results of all positive samples were negative. The positive rates between different genders, ages, occupations, and nationalities were not statistically significant(P>0.05),but the difference of positive rates between epidemic period and later stages of the epidemic was statistically significant(χ2=4.623,P=0.032).Conclusion There are new-Bunyavirus total antibody positive samples in blood-donors,noticing that there is a possibility of potential infection among Guiyang blood-donors and even healthy people.
