Objective To observe the effect of electroacupuncture on improvement of learning and memory ability and the expression of connective tissue growth factor(CTGF)mRNA and protein in hippocampus in diabetic rats with cognitive impairment. Methods The rat diabetes model was induced by injecting streptozotocin(20 g/L),and then the rats were randomly divided into three groups:electro-acupuncture group(EA),diabetes-mellitus-untreated group(DM)and control group(CN).After four weeks of electroacupuncture treatment, blood glucose level was determined and the effect of electroacupuncture on learning and memory was examined with the device of Morris water maze.RT-PCR was used to detect CTGF mRNA level, and immunohistochemistry was used to detect CTGF protein expression. Results Blood glucose level and the latency period in DM group were increased compared with those in EA and CN groups(P

ObjectiveTo evaluate the relationship between the level of thoracic complete spinal cord injury(SCI) and ambulatory function wearing Reciprocating Gait Orthosis(RGO) through three dimentional gait analysis, and to explore the quantitative indicators of reconstructing walking capacity of thoracic complete SCI patients.Methods10 patients with thoracic complete spinal cord injury of lesion level from T4 to T12 who had experienced RGO gait training for at least 3 months. Three dimentional gait analysis system of Vicon Nexus 1.2 was used to test and examine the gait speed, cadence, stride length, pelvic angle of rotation, hip range of motion(ROM), crutch force, angular velocity of hip flexion and extension phases, etc. Pearson's product moment correlation coefficient and Spearman rank correlation coefficient were used to examine the relationship between the level of spinal cord injury and the kinematic and kinetic values.ResultsThe mean cadence and stride length were (37.4±2.15) steps/min and (91.6±9.09) cm. The mean hip ROM, angular velocity of hip flexion and extension phases were (42.57 °±5.43 °), (20.88 °±2.18 °)/s and (124.75 °±9.31 °)/s respectively. The gait speed, stride length, peak crutch force, hip ROM, mean crutch force and angular velocity of hip extension phase all had significant pertinence with the level of spinal cord injury.ConclusionThe limitation of hip ROM and excessive load of upper limbs mainly result in ambulatory disorder in higher thoracic complete SCI patients who should be undertaken some rehabilitation training to reduce excessive physiological load in order to improve their ambulatory capacity.

Six crystalline components were isolated from the lipophilic fraction of Artemisia annua L. They have been identified as four sesquiterpenes, one flavonol and one coumarin. Qinghaosu I and III are new sesquiterpenes. Five main constituents, camphene, iso-artemisia ketone, 1-camphor, β-carophyllene, and β-pinene were identified from the volatile oil of this herb.

Objective To evaluate regional right ventricular function by ultrasonic strain rate imaging in postoperative children with conotruncal defects(CTD). Methods All 27 postoperative CTD children had magnetic resonance imaging evaluation of right ventricular end-diastolic volume and end-systolic volume to calculate right ventricular ejection fraction (RVEF). The ultrasonic parameters of peak systolic strain rate (SRs), peak early diastolic strain rate (SRe), peak late diastolic strain rate(SRa) and strain (S) were obtained at the basal, middle and apical segment in curve of right ventricular anterior wall in 27 postoperative CTD children and 27 normal children. The correlation between SRs,S and RVEF were evaluated. Results Compared with healthy children,SRs,S,SRe,SRa were significantly reduced in postoperative CTD children (P < 0.01 ), there were different distribution rules between postoperative CTD children and normal children, and all indexes had no statistical descrepancy among the basal, middle and apical segment ( P >0.05). SRs in basal segment of the right ventricular anterior wall correlated well with RVEF ( r = 0.89,P < 0. 01 ). Conclusions Regional right ventricular function still was reduced in postoperative CTD children, and could be accurately evaluated by ultrasonic strain rate imaging.

Objective:
To investigate the efficacy and adverse effects of sustained lung inflation (SLI) combined with pulmonary surfactant (PS) in the treatment of neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (NRDS).
Methods:
This prospective randomized controlled trial included 124 premature infants (gestational age <34 weeks and birth weight <2 000 g) diagnosed with NRDS and in need of PS treatment in Shenzhen Maternity & Child Healthcare Hospital affiliated to Southern Medical University from July 1, 2016 to October 31, 2018. They were randomly divided into experimental or control group, with 62 cases in each. Infants in the experimental group were treated with SLI using T-piece and intratracheal PS, while those in the control group were given PS only. Blood gas analysis and measurement of fraction of inspiration O2 (FiO2) and ratio of partial pressure of oxygen (PO2) over FiO2 were performed before and 1 h after PS injection. Results of the treatments and incidence of complications were compared. Paired samples

Objective:To construct a risk prediction and assessment system for incisional infection after spinal surgery. Methods:Based on the failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA), risk factors and assessment indicators of postoperative incisional infection in spinal surgery were sorted out through literature search followed by expert consultation using the Delphi expert consultation method. After three-level assessment indicators were selected according to their importance and expert opinions and assigned by different scores, a risk prediction and evaluation system was constructed for postoperative incisional infection after spinal surgery. Results:The 2 rounds of expert consultation questionnaire resulted in an effective response rate of 100%. The degree of expert consultation authority was 0.85, showing high reliability; the Kendall coordination coefficients of expert consultation ranged from 0.525 to 0.686, showing good coordination ( P<0.05). The three-level assessment indicators consisted of 3 primary, 18 secondary and 54 tertiary ones. After statistical analyses of the important risk indicators selected which consisted of 6 preoperative evaluation ones and 18 postoperative evaluation ones, 6 preoperative and 12 postoperative predictive indicators were obtained. The values of risk priority number (RPN) were calculated for high, medium and low risks for postoperative incisional infection using a semi-quantitative method. Conclusion:A self-designed system has been constructed for risk prediction and assessment of incisional infection after spinal surgery based on expert consultation and FMEA method.

Objective To compare the synergies between the transcutaneous needle electrodes and the ETT surface electrodes used for neurological surveillance in thyroidology, and explore how to identify and protect recurrent laryngeal nerve and vagus nerve when the patient is not suitable for oral plug or surface electrodes are failure. Methods To collect and analyze the clinical data of 32 patients undergoing surgical treatment for thyroid disease,a total of 40 neurons of the recurrent laryngeal nerves and vagus nerves were monitored, and the amplitude and latency were recorded using ETT surface electrodes and transcutaneous needle electrodes for nerve monitoring, respectively.SPSS 26.0 software was used for statistical analysis, paired t-tests were used to analyze and compare the latency periods, and the rank sum test was used to analyze whether there is a difference in the amplitude obtained from stimulation of transcutaneous needle electrodes and ETT surface electrodes. Results When the transcutaneous needle electrodes were used in thyroid surgery,we identified all the nerves, obtained two-phase electrical signals similar to the latency and amplitude of the ETT surface electrodes, and could effectively identify the recurrent laryngeal nerve and vagus nerve[(3.22±0.50)ms vs.(3.85±1.00)ms,P<0.05]through the incapacity period, with no obvious difference in the monitoring effect from the ETT surface electrodes[(3.04±0.58)ms vs.(3.89±1.07)ms,P<0.05].At the same time, the visualization and safety of transcutaneous needle electrodes were higher, with great advantages. Conclusion Transcutaneous needle electrodes can effectively assist in identifying and protecting the recurrent laryngeal nerve and vagus nerve, and thus are an important supplement to ETT surface electrodes.
