Objective To study anti-radiation behavior of plasma sprayed boron carbide coatings. Methods The anti-radiation capacity of 16Mn steel which was coated with 0.1 mm plasma sprayed boron carbide were studied. The irradiation beams were 6,10,15 MY X-ray and 6,9,12,15 MeV electron emitted by accelerator, X-ray emitted by 60Co machine, fast neutron, and X-ray emitted by kilovoltage X-ray ma-chine. Results Anti-radiation capacity of plasma sprayed boron carbide coatings was not found for X-ray beams emitted by accelerator and 60Co machine. For electron beams, the anti-radiation capacity were found. The deeper of location, the stronger was anti-radiation. However, the anti-radiation capacity was not good. For fast neutron, the anti-radiation capacity was good. For X-ray emitted by kilovoltage X-ray machine, the anti-radiation was good, and only 0.1 nun plasma sprayed boron carbide had 15% attenuation. Conclusions The plasma sprayed boron carbide coatings have the anti-radiation capacity for X-ray emitted by kilovoltage X-ray machine in medical field.

Objective To investigate the effects of volatile organic compounds escaped from alkyd dope on neurotransmitter content in the brain of mice. Methods 56 BALB/c mice were randomly divided into 7 groups,8 in each and exposed to volatile organic compounds(30 mg/m3)escaped from alkyd dope by dynamic inhalation exposure. The neurotransmitters(cholines, monoamines, amino acids)in the brain were determined during the period of exposure and comeback. Results Compared with the control,DA,5-HT,NE and Glu significantly decreased and Gly,GABA significantly increased during the period of exposure, however NE still kept significant decrease during the period of comeback. Conclusion Volatile organic compounds escaped from alkyd dope may cause neurochemical change in mice.

Chinese Journal of Clinical Oncology 2016;43(15):679-682
Telomeres are protective caps located at the ends of human chromosomes. Telomeres shorten with each successive cell di-vision in normal human cells, whereas they are continuously elongated by human telomerase in over 85%of tumors. This simple and attractive difference steers the development of anticancer drugs targeting telomeres and telomerase. Many promising current telo-mere/telomerase-targeting agents, such as GRN163L and GV1001, showed good therapeutic effect both in preclinical studies and phaseⅠ/Ⅱclinical trials. These agents have even entered phaseⅢclinical trials in patients with various tumors. Most therapeutics are more effective when used in combination with standard chemotherapies. Moreover, pharmacological interference with tumor-cell telomere biology to reduce telomere length and/or telomere stability could enhance the effectiveness and safety of radiotherapy. Therapeutics targeting telomere/telomerase may play a key role in radiotherapy in the era of personalized medicine in the future.

BACKGROUND:Studies have shown that chitosan and other natural polysaccharides have heparin-like anticoagulant function after sulfonated modification. Sulfonated chitosan has good anticoagulant property because the sulfonate group formed by sulfonated chitosan is similar with the active group of heparin. OBJECTIVE: To prepare the anticoagulant chitosan nanoparticles and to detect its morphology, physical and chemical properties and biological security. METHODS: Chitosan nanoparticles were synthesized by emulsion-chemical cross link. Sulfonated chitosan nanoparticles were synthesized by sulfonation reaction. Its morphology was described by transmission electron microscope. The peak-value change of its specific groups was observed by infrared spectroscopy. (1) Coagulation experiment: Heparin, chitosan nanoparticles and 10, 30 and 50 mg of sulfonated chitosan nanoparticles were added into the blood of Spraque-Dawley rats. The coagulation indicators were detected. (2) Hemolysis experiment: deionized water, physiological saline and 10, 30, 50 g/L sulfonated chitosan nanoparticles extracts were added into 2% red blood cel suspension of rabbits. The hemolysis rate was detected. (3) Cytotoxicity experiments: DMEM medium containing fetal bovine serum and 10, 30, 50 g/L sulfonated chitosan nanoparticle extracts were used to culture human umbilical vein endothelial cels. Cel relative growth rate and toxicity grading were detected after 72 hours. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Scanning electron microscopy showed that sulfonated chitosan nanoparticles had good morphology, with a diameter of 50 nm. Infrared spectroscopy showed that the sulfonated replacement occurred. In vitro coagulation experiments showed that sulfonated chitosan nanoparticles had significant anticoagulant effects in a dose-dependent manner. Sulfonated chitosan nanoparticles meet the national safety standard for hemolysis rate of less than 5%, non-induced hemolysis property. Cytotoxicity assays showed that sulfonated chitosan nanoparticles extracts had no significant cytotoxicity, and its biological safety was in line with the national standards.

Objective To analyze the laboratory results and chest CT appearances of novel recombinant avian-origin influenza A (H7N9) in discharged patients for understanding the imaging changes. Methods The clinical and imaging data of 4 patients with novel recombinant avian-origin influenza A (H7N9) were collected. The imaging changes and laboratory results were analyzed. Results All patients underwent chest CT examination 2 to 5 times from admission to discharge. The lesions primarily presented as ground-glass opacity (GGO) and mainly located in the inferior lobe of the left lung in 3 cases,in the inferior lobe of the right lung in 1 case, alternating between absorption and progress.GGO was absorbed obviously in about 3 days after treatment and consolidation was progressed after treatment.Consolidation absorption was observed with continue treatment in 1 case. The pulmonary lesions were absorbed obviously in 1 case 7 days after discharge.Synchronous reduction of the absolute values of CD3,CD8,CD4,CD45 were observed in 3 cases and the ratio of CD4/CD8 was normal. Conclusions (1) The areas of pulmonary involvement are large and variable in H7N9.The lesion area and imaging patterns are important for disease prognosis.(2) H7N9 virus infection may causes immunosuppression, decrease of CRP value can predict the improvement of the disease.

Objective To explore the improving safety measures of colon interposition after esophagectomy .Methods From January 2003 to December 2014, 65 cases of colon interposition after esophagectomy were performed, and some improve-ments were made in the methods and procedures .Mainly including: Preoperative evaluation to first operation; Selection of co-lon segment; Simplify vascular anatomy;Cervical anastomosis was replaced by intrathoracic anastomosis;Modified anastomosis sequence; Strengthen preoperative preparation. Results There were no perioperative deaths.Only 2 patients with cervical fis-tula, due to malnutrition automatically discharged. The rate of anastomotic leakage on neck were 27.77%(10/36) and 6.89%(2/29) in the chest.2 cases were completed intestinal obstruction after jejunostomy , 1 cases of volvulus and 1 cases of intus-susception confirmed by reoperation. Conclusion Colon interposition after esophagectomy is a very important way of surgery. The operation process is complex, but as long as mastering the point of surgery, improving the surgical procedures, the good effect can be obtained and greatly improve the safety of the operation .
