Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2012;18(2):126-127
Objective To explore the effect of family support system on depression and the quality of life of stroke patients. Methods 64 stroke patients were divided into observation group (n=32) and control group (n=32). Both groups accepted neurological medicine and conventional rehabilitation, and the observation group received family support additionally. The depression condition and the quality of life were accessed with Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD) and The World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL)-100 respectively before and 2 weeks, 4 weeks and 8 weeks after treatment. Results The scores of HAMD were significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.01), the scores of WHOQOL-100 were significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group after treatment (P<0.01). Conclusion The family support system can alleviate the depression and improve the quality of life of stroke patients.
2.RAPD Analysis on farm cultivars of fruits of Trichosanthes kirilowii from Shandong Province
Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 1994;0(03):-
Objective To explore the genetic diversity and relationship of different cultivars of the fruits of Trichosantheis kirilowii, and determine them in molecular level. Methods Different fram cultivars and fruits in wild plant of T. kirilowii from Shandong Province and T. hupehensis were detected by randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers with 25 randomized primers. The Jaccard coefficient was worked out by using NTSYS-pc software, and a cluster dendrogram of different samples was established based on unweighed pair-group method with arithmetic mean (UPGMA). Results The 25 selected primers produced 266 bands among which 232 bands (87.2%) were polymorphic. In the cluster dendrogram, T. hupehensis was far from the different cultivars and fruits in wild plant of T. kirilowii, but there was closer genetic relationship between Niuxin Gualou and Ren Gualou, Da Gualou, and Baleng Gualou, as well as Xiao Guang-dan Gualou and wild sample. Conclusion RAPD Markers can be used to standardize, arrange, and determine farm cultivars of fruits of T. kirilowii in molecular level, and indicate the genetic relationship and background, then provide important information for seed breeding and resourse protection of T. kirilowii.

Virologica Sinica 2008;23(3):218-225
The epidemiological effects of native and mutated YMDD motif in the HBV genome under the selective pressure of lamivudine were investigated. YMDD wild and mutation motif in HBV genome were detected by flow through reverse dot blots (FT-RDB) with KaiPuTM DNA HybriMax Rapid Hybridization Machine based on the principle of "Flow-through hybridization" and by the traditional Reverse Dot Blot assay. Sera from 1021 suspected lamivudine-resistant chronic HBV carders after more than 8 months of lamivudine therapy and the corresponding archived sera were collected and assayed. We found 35.94% were single type infections with 8.03% YMDD, 7.93% YIDD and 19.98% YVDD. It was also found that 64.06% were mixed infections including 1.96% YMDD and YIDD, 51.62% YMDD and YVDD, 1.96% YIDD and YVDD, 8.52% YMDD, YIDD and YVDD. The levels of infections containing YVDD motif reached 82.08%. The pretreatment infectious status were: YMDD single infection was 36.93%; YIDD single infection was 6.07%; YVDD single infection was 17.04%; YMDD and YIDD mixed infection was 0.97%; YMDD and YVDD mixed infection was33.99%; YIDD and YVDD mixed infection was 0.98%; YMDD, YIDD and YVDD mixed infection was 4.02%. Infections containing YVDD motif were only 56.03%. The 34.32% mutation rate of YMDD motif to YVDD was significantly higher than the 10.97% of YMDD to YIDD (U=10.98, P<0.05), as estimated by Mann-Whitney U-test for non-parametric data. HBV containing YVDD motif might have an evolutionary ascendancy and become the dominant type under the selective pressure of lamivudine.

Objective] To explore teacher Zhou Zhiying’s clinical experience in treating tinnitus by using the electric acupuncture with Gongxue point to improve the blood flow of posterior circulation. [Method] By following teacher Zhou ’s clinical diagnosis and treatment as well as organizing previous clinical cases, to sum up teacher Zhou’s academic thoughts and clinical experience on tinnitus by acupuncture and moxibustion, and with proven cases. [Result] Teacher Zhou believes that the treatment of tinnitus must first clear etiology, discern the actual situation, and then find right selected acupuncture prescription with acupoints along meridians and sydrome differentiation. Teacher Zhou considers that tinnitus is related to the cerebral circulatory insufficiency. And Gongxue point has the effect of improving the brain circulation, therefore Teacher Zhou uses the methods of needling Gongxue point to improve posterior cerebral circulation in the clinical treatment of tinnitus, so it can improve inner ear microcirculation, and promote the recovery of neurological function and promote inflammation subsided. Coupled with electric acupuncture, moxibustion and acupuncture for reinforcing and reducing ,it will bring about a significant effect.[Conclusion] The clinical treatment by using the electric acupuncture with Gongxue point to improve the blood flow of posterior circulation for tinnitus curative effect is distinct. Teacher Zhou has unique clinical experience on tinnitus which is worthy our deep study and reference.

AIM: To study the effect of Liuwei Dihuang Wan (LWDHW) on the expression of immune-associated genes in the aged rats using cDNA microarray. METHODS: Forty 20-months-old rats were divided into two groups equally. One group was treated with LWDHW for 5 weeks, another was untreated as control. Some biochemical assays were used to confirm the physiological differences between two groups. The mRNA from the spleens of twenty 4-months-old young rats were extracted and divided equally into two parts. Each part was conjoined with mRNA from drug treated aged rats and that from untreated control aged rats, respectively, and two experimental combinations for reverse transcription and cDNA microarray were formed. By comparing two groups of data from two combinations, the effects of LWDHW on the expression of the associated genes were evaluated. RESULTS: 13 down-regulated genes and one up-regulated gene were identified in the untreated control old rats, whose expression did not change obviously in treated old rats compared with young rats. The expressions of another two sequence were up-regulated distinctly in treated old rats compared with young rats. CONCLUSIONS: 16 immune-associated genes expressions were affected markedly by LWDHW. It will be helpful for understanding the molecular mechanism of LWDHW in ageing.

AIM: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of rhBMP-2/collagen composite on bone regeneration during expansion of the interparietal suture in the rats. METHODS: 32 10-week old SD rats were divided into groups consisting of 8 rats each. They were comprised of normal control group, expansion control group and the treatment group, the two treatment groups were covered with atelo-typeⅠcollagen and rhBMP-2/collagen composite on the suture before subjected to the expansion force. The bone regeneration in the interparietal suture was estimated by histological method, the osteocalcin content was measured by radioimmonoassay and the calcium content was determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometer. RESULTS: The bone regeneration was more active in the suture after giving an expanding force than in the suture without any intervention. Even bone bridge was formed in the rhBMP-2/collagen composite group. Both the osteocalcin content and calcium content were much higher in the rhBMP-2/collagen composite group than in other three groups (P
